Chapter Sixteen - The Crazy Plan

“The accident?” The doctor asked.

The nurse walked back in with a small jug filled of cold water and a cup. She poured Bella a cup and put a straw in it.

Putting the drink close to Bella's mouth.

Bella grabbed the drink and was drinking it slowly.

Clearing her throat slowly, Bella started to talk. Her voice was weak at first, but got back to her regular voice after talking a bit.

“I remember the accident, I remember waking up chained in my dad’s basement. I remember crawling through his sewers and breaking the chain off my ankle, which it cut my ankle. I remember running until I reached the water to try to wash as much sh*t off of me. And then climbing out and laying down to catch my breath. I remember seeing Logan. I remember being carried and Logan was helping wash me clean. Then I woke up here.” Bella strained to say.

The doctor looked at her confused.

“Why would your father kidnap you?” The doctor asked.

Bella gestured for a pencil.

“She either needs to write it or you need to give her more water because you won’t believe me if I tell you it. I already tried.” Logan said.

Bella looked at Logan then back at the doctor. The doctor was refilling her water with the jug.

Bella drank it and looked at him.

“My father is almost broke. He wants to sell my virginity. He also wants to sell me as a slave. He has until my 18th to sell my virginity. There’s a buyer asking for it, they are willing to pay nearly $1 billion for it. Then he wants to sell me to be a slave. But I refuse. That’s one of the reasons why I don’t live at home.” Bella said.

The doctor looked at Logan and Bella.

“Told you.” Logan said.

“Are you a couple?” The doctor asked.

“No.” Bella said.

“Well, if you were married. Or if you slept together, then he wouldn’t be after you.” The doctor said.

“What does being a couple have to do with it?” Bella asked.

Logan looked at Bella as she stared at the doctor confused.

Matt walked in as the doctor was talking to them.

“Well, if you are being hunted, what if you enter a fake marriage until you were both 18? Have adult and guardian signatures approving it. That way your father can’t force you to be a slave and can’t sell you.” The doctor said.

“I’m not even looking at a relationship, I’m not going to be jumping over a relationship and into a marriage.” Bella said.

“I mean, the doctor isn’t wrong. Your dad is after you. We can do this until your 18th birthday then get a divorce.” Logan said.

“No, because I don’t want to lie in front of people and tell them I am in love when I don’t even think I am able to handle those feelings.” Bella said.

Logan sighed and shook his head. He looked at Milly who was snoring quietly in his lap.

“Do it for Milly.” Logan said.

Bella looked at Logan with a serious stare.

Matt watched from the corner of the room, they hadn’t noticed him yet.

“I know you did not just try to use your little sister as a bargaining chip.” Bella said.

“I know you love Milly, and she loves you. She reminds you of a younger you. So why not do it? There won’t be any s*x involved. It’s a fake marriage. All that’s involved is sharing a bed. Hell we can even have our own blankets wrapped around us. But that way if Kieran invited a girl for the night and she knows Stacey, or is from school. Then they can say that we shared the room. Then there won’t be any ill words. Everything will look legit.” Logan said.

“How the hell are you considering this? How are you processing this? How are you even wanting to do this?” Bella asked.

The heart monitor started beeping faster and Milly was stirring. Logan held her tighter.

“I’ll even write a contract to state I will not force you in any way, we can have a prenup and everything. You will be protected in every way.” Logan said.

Bella shook her head.

“No.” Bella said.

“It kind of makes sense.” Matt said.

Bella and Logan looked towards Matt with a shocked expression.

“No it doesn’t, I lose my freedom, I don’t get to live the life I want. I won’t be able to hang out with Drew without people assuming I am cheating. Not unless Logan tags along and Drew already hates him. I know because I heard Drew whisper to himself about how he dislikes how Logan carried me that way, when we were in the woods.” Bella said.

“Bella, relax. I will make sure everything is legal and above board. And if you ever need a break from him, he can sleep in his old room again. There will be spare bedding for him. You will go to a courthouse for a wedding to get married. I have a judge, we will explain that it’s to protect you. It will legally change your last name so your father can’t try to sell you. The doctor is right, it’s the best option.” Matt said.

Bella looked at Matt in shock.

“I can’t just jump into a marriage.” Bella said.

Milly stirred and heard the word marriage. Milly sat up quickly.

“Who’s getting married?” Milly asked with a tired voice.

“Bella might be.” Matt said.

“What?” Milly asked.

“Relax, it’s a fake marriage for now. Her father tried hurting her. The doctor suggested a fake marriage so her father can’t kidnap her. When she’s 18, I will divorce her.” Logan said.

“So, you will marry Logan?” Milly asked.

The happiest grin on her face.

Bella threw her head back and made a groan of annoyance.

“Just give her a bit, she’s worried about it.” Matt said.

Milly nodded.

Milly walked over and held Bella's hand.

“No matter what, even if you don’t. I will still love you.” Milly said.

Bella slowly turned her head and looked at Milly.

“You can climb up and cuddle with me.” Bella said.

Logan smiled as he watched them.

Bella and Milly laid next to each other.

Matt walk out and rang his friend who was a judge, the judge came out with a lawyer and they spoke to the doctor who admitted to her confession and to Logan’s confession. The judge said they can take care of it if she gives her permission. Bella looked between them as they whispered in the corner of the room.

“Bella, trust Logan. He won’t hurt you. He isn’t Kieran.” Milly whispered.

Bella looked at Milly and saw Milly looking at her with the cutest face.

“If I agree, you have to add a few clauses. Like I can have my freedom. Obviously I am not going to be dating anyone. So, I am going to be faithful. I expect the person I am married to, to be faithful. And I want the freedom so I can hang out at band practice and the gym and with my friend Drew. He’s my friend who taught me self defence. He’s the one who saved my life when I was 10. If you agree to let me do those, and let me go to work, without constantly being watched. Then I will agree to it.” Bella said.

“I’ll agree, but you have to share a room. Which means you have to move some clothes into my room. Because my room has built in wardrobes and you can put clothes away. And all I ask is if you will be working late, a heads up. So, that if you go missing, we know quickly.” Logan said.

“Deal.” Bella said.

“And I promise, i won't pressure you.” Logan said.

“Good boy. And…” Bella said slowly.

“And no fighting Kieran.” Logan said.

“Good boy.” Bella said.

“But if he says something rude again, I will raise my voice, just not my fist.” Logan said.

Bella sighed in annoyance.

“Put up with it, he’s going to be your husband.” Milly said.

“We can’t tell Kieran it’s fake. He will blab it to everyone. He told Stacey that you were living with us.” Logan said.

“So, we lie to Kieran when we lie to everyone else?” Bella asked.

“Only us in the room will know.” Matt said.

“Come to my office when Bella is discharged, I will have a marriage certificate ready. And all we need is for the lawyer to write the contract before they sign it.” The judge said.

Matt nodded and walked them out.

The doctor left while Milly laid next to Bella still.

“I am kind of happy that I can attend Logan’s fake wedding.” Milly said.

“Kieran’s going to know it’s fake.” Bella said.

“Not if we say that the man at the church married us. We can tell dad to make up a lie and we will go along with it.” Logan said.

“Dad is good at coming up with lies.” Milly said.

Bella looked at them.

“Should I be concerned?” Bella asked.

“Not really.” Logan said.

“Too late.” Bella said.

Logan stood up and moved his chair closer.

“Looks like I have to go ring shopping. You will have to go with me.” Logan said.

“Can I come?” Milly asked.

“Ask dad.” Logan said.

They stayed there bored, as they waited for Bella to be discharged.

Logan got the all clear and helped Bella to the wheelchair as she was told to sit until they got her out.

Milly held the chair until he drove the chair up close. Bella was put into the front while Milly climbed into the back. Logan took her to her bank first.

Bella went in and explained about how she’s getting married soon. She showed her wallet and ID.

They also had her ID on file. They let her take a large amount out. Bella was given a large amount in a bag and she smiled as she walked out.

“What’s with the bag?” Logan asked.

“I’m going to buy a new ride soon.” Bella said.

“You just got into an accident.” Logan said.

“I know, and I still need a way to get to work.” Bella said.

“I’ll give you a lift.” Logan said.

“No, I like feeling independent. You just agreed to let me. Unless you want to not be married.” Bella said.
