Chapter Five Part Two

“Then why is Milly attracted to her. She has to be dark somehow.” Matt said.

“Maybe it’s because she’s too kind or too nice. She’s literally always been nice to others besides assholes. She helped her own bully today. She helped fix his foot, hummed a song to him and waited with him until the ambulance came. I don’t think Bella has a vicious bone in her body. She acts it, but she’s a softie.” Logan said.

“You should keep an eye on her, she’s on my radar too now. Milly loves violent people.” Matt said.

Logan nodded. He sat back down with Matt. They saw the food being brought out. Matt paid close attention, Bella was more focused on helping Milly with her food. Reaching across to get things for Milly. Even Kieran and Logan noticed it. Why was she helping Milly?

“Bella, can you please reach the mashed potato?” Milly asked sweetly.

Bella lifted her head to look for it. Logan leaned forward to reach it for her and smiled. Bella smiled and mouthed a thank you to him. She helped Milly put some on her plate until Milly said stop. Bella then helped her pour the gravy on her plate after cutting her steak and Milly was enjoying it. She was loving Bella being there.

“Make sure to get some food yourself Bella.” Matt said.

“I will.” Bella said.

“So, how long have you known Bella?” Stacey asked.

“Who are you asking?” Matt asked.

“Everyone.” Stacey said.

“I met Bella yesterday, Kieran met her this morning. And dad met her this afternoon at his office. But Milly met her at the front door before. When I met Bella, I was an asshole and she called me out on it. So, dad wanted to invite her to show we aren’t all assholes.” Logan said.

Bella reached for some potato, corn on a cob. A bit of bread, butter, some chicken, some rice and Bella grabbed some of the bacon. They looked at her with a confused expression.

“Hang on, you met Milly tonight and she acts like she’s superglued to you?” Stacey asked.

“Tread lightly.” Bella warned.

“Why? What are you going to do?” Stacey asked.

“The rules are that people can bully only me on the school grounds. We aren’t on the school grounds. Which means I will fight back. And you won’t like the outcome.” Bella said.

Bella gave Stacey a cold glare.

“Bella, why do you add such a strange little amount of food on your plate?” Matt asked.

“Trying something.” Bella said.

Milly looked as they watched Bella slowly roll rice into the bacon with potato and torn bits of bread. They all looked at her curiously. She took a bite and then another bite to finish it.

“I don’t even regret trying that.” Bella said.

Logan tried it with Kieran and Matt. Milly wanted to try it, Bella made it for Milly. And she loved it.

“I love you.” Milly said.

“I was thinking that when I ate it too.” Bella said.

“No silly, I mean you. I love you, Bella.” Milly giggled.

Bella’s eyes went wide.

“You can love lots in the world. I am honoured to be part of the love you have.” Bella said.

She gave Milly a hug as the adults at the other end thought it was cute.

“You two are really adorable. Is she your sister?” Nico asked.

“No, she will be one day.” Milly said.

Bella, Logan, Kieran and Matt dropped their forks on their plate.

“Milly, don’t exaggerate.” Matt said.

“What do you mean?” Nico asked.

“Both my brothers like her. So, one of them will marry her and she will be my sister.” Milly said proudly.

Bella hid her face between her hands.

“Calm down Milly, they only have a crush. They will stop feeling this way in a short time.” Matt said.

“Then I will marry her.” Milly said.

Bella was turning red. Logan leaned close to Bella’s ear.

“Try to ignore her. She gets excited and rambles. If you show a reaction, she continues.” Logan whispered.

Bella nodded.

Bella slowly lowered her hands to the table. Her right hand was next to Logan’s. He was almost holding hers. But she had hers mostly closed. Kieran noticed and did a slight smirk. Bella noticed Kieran’s gaze on their hands, she saw Kieran trying to tease Logan.

And after Logan tried to comfort her when he whispered to her. Bella wanted to help him. She put her hand on his, startling him for a moment and then making Logan smile. Kieran was rendered speechless. Meanwhile Matt noticed the reaction between them and knew Bella was stirring trouble. Stacey noticed Kieran’s face and rolled her eyes.

“Bella, would you accompany me in the study later on? You can choose to bring Logan with you. I have to ask you something.” Matt said.

Bella nodded as she looked at him.

“Are you asking if we can keep her? Please let us keep her dad.” Milly pleaded.

Matt laughed.

“Stop asking me that.” Matt said.

“Milly, Bella has family. She has step sisters and a father and step mother.” Stacey said.

Matt noticed the slight shiver in Bella as the words were said. How her face dropped from a smile to a blank and cold stare. Bella looked down and ate with her fork in her left hand. Logan noticed and held her hand tighter. Matt noticed him squeeze her hand tighter.

“Who cares. Step mothers are evil. And step sisters always are evil. Bella is loved here, she belongs with us. With me.” Milly said.

“Please, can we just eat.” Bella said softly.

“I’m sorry if I upset you, Bella.” Milly said.

Matt, Kieran and Logan looked at Milly with a shocked look. Bella ate slowly.

Milly grabbed her napkin and wiped Bella’s cheek. That’s when Kieran and Matt noticed she was crying. Logan had quickly wiped her other cheek when he noticed.

“Would you like to eat somewhere else with me and Milly alone?” Logan asked.

“Would I be allowed to?” Bella asked.

Logan looked at his father.

“You and Bella can, Milly can stay here for now.” Matt said.

Bella hugged Milly.

“I’ll bring your plate.” Logan said.

Bella nodded and walked out of the room.

“Daddy, I want to go as well.” Milly said.

“It’s okay, she’s not upset with you. Just give her a moment.” Logan said softly to Milly.

Matt heard him. Why was Logan being sweet? Logan added a bit more food to Bella’s plate and to his before taking off.

“Can you ask them to send some drinks to us? We will sit near the coffee table in the parlour.” Logan said.

Matt nodded.

Logan carried their plates out and escorted Bella to the parlour.

“I added a bit more to our plates. I know that family is a sad subject, I’m sorry if Milly upset you. She really didn’t mean to.” Logan said.

Bella shook her head.

“Milly didn’t.” Bella said.

Logan looked at her confused.

“What made you upset? I won’t tell anyone.” Logan said.

“Stacey knows my living situation. She’s actually one of my step sisters.” Bella said.

Logan stayed quiet for a moment. Before he could speak, he heard a noise.

“We have your drinks for you.” The servant said.
