Chapter 5 – The next day

1823 Words
With a knock at the door, Nakisha knew a new day had started. She was already up and dressed, bag packed and ready and when she opened the door to find Ms June standing there. It was clear to see the surprise in her eyes, seeing Nakisha so awake. She had come to wake her, and advise her breakfast was ready down in the dinning room. Nakisha nodded and followed the woman out of the room and down the stairs to the dinning room. She froze for a moment, seeing the man sitting at the head of the table, reading some papers, drinking a coffee and looked all dressed and ready for the day. When Nakisha had stood across from him, as the minister commenced the ceremony, she could see the indifferent look on his face, the way he watched her, like he was expecting her to be an evil little nasty slut who was just after his money. Nakisha was anything but that, and she wanted to just live peacefully. That was why she offered to help out, so he would not think everything about her was so bad and he would not cause her problems. However, almost right away on the first night, things turned upside down. She was scared the moment he pulled her onto the bed. For a man in a wheelchair, she was shocked at how strong he was, as he pinned her down. Yes, when she first saw him, Nakisha did think to herself how despite the fact that he was in a wheelchair and had a long scar on his face, he was very hansom, his grey eyes that could read somebody easily, a strong jaw line. She could tell he was meant to be a tall man, even if he was in a sitting position, he was still imposing and frightening. Afraid of what he was going to do to her, Nakisha freaked out, pushing at him, to get him off her. He had torn the dress, hurt her, but she escaped, rushing out of the room. She had not known where to go in the house, so she went down the stairs, too look for a sitting room of some sort. She ran into Ms June, who noticed how freaked out she was, how messed her dress, hair and makeup was. She was worried, but Nakisha did not say anything. Instead, Ms June showed Nakisha to a spare room, advising her that they already had some outfits prepared for her from her previous home. Nakisha was worried when she heard somebody had gone to the Shaw Manor and retrieved some of her things. Ms June must have seen her worry, and gave her a kind and understanding smile. Nakisha did not live the easiest life, however, she did not want other people knowing anything about her life there, so she was worried with somebody going there, they would start asking questions and find out things she did not want known. Even so, all she did was thank Ms June for showing her to the room. She quickly got out of the stupidly expensive ruined dress and found the bathroom attached to the room. After a shower, she found some clothing in the wardrobe, indeed some items from her own previously small collection. She got into some pyjamas and then went to the bed, setting an alarm that was on the bedside and falling asleep instantly. That was why the moment she saw him, Michal, her new husband, sitting at the table that morning, she almost freaked out, remembering the way he acted the night before. She was trembling, saw a bowl of fruit in the middle of the table and quickly grabbed an apple and banana, and turned, to head out of the dinning room. She already had her bag with her, so she figured she would just head out straight away. “And where are you going.” a firm cold voice asked. Freezing in place, Nakisha was scared, worried, hoping he was not going to try anything on her again. They may have gotten married, but she did not even know him, she did not trust him and she did not want to do anything with him. Slowly she turned around, taking a deep breath and looking him right in the eye, clearing her tone, so it was steady and strong. “I have school.” Nakisha stated. “I have an extra class on the weekends and since I missed the class yesterday, I have to make up for it today.” “School...” Michal asked like it was a joke. “How old are you. Sixteen?” “Twenty... Unless you like being a pervert.” she replied coldly, feeling insulted by his tone. “Oh and it is called school because it is a University, a place where smart people go to study, which i guess you missed out on.” “What do you study?” he asked in a tight tone with clenched teeth. “Wow, and here I thought your family would have researched everything there was to know about me, before dragging me into such a mess.” Nakisha spat back. “Are you trying to piss me off?” Michal asked dangerously. “Because it is working.” “Not trying to.” Nakisha stated, “But, if it offends you, I apologize in advance. I just don’t care to be bossed around and told what to do.” “You are married now.” Michal stated getting angry with her. “So you expect me to be a good little house wife? I thought you would have rather a wife who would work hard and earn her own living, to not muse off your hard earn work.” she replied. She saw the way he looked at her, the shock on his face. She was sure that he had never experienced anyone speak to him in that way before, but she was not going to be a little push over either. She could see that Ms June was shocked too, a hand over her mouth in surprise, eyes wide, but Nakisha did not care. Until that man acted polite and reasonable with her, she was not going to be respectful and fair to him. Turning around again, she took her steps to the front door and headed out. The car was there, Ben sitting inside on his phone. He looked up seeing her come out the door, but said nothing, just watched as she made her way down the long driveway, to the gates and then they were all out of her sight. With a deep sigh, she pulled out the phone from her backpack. At least who ever went and grabbed her stuff was smart enough to grab her school stuff and phone, after all she had not grabbed all of that before going to the wedding hall. She had intended to collect it sooner or later, but now she did not have to. With the phone, Nakisha dialled a number, putting in a call and kept walking. It was as she got ten minutes down the road her phone rang again. She agreed to a meeting spot, outside of the large estate gates. It was after all a specially privet area and only those that lived in the estate were allowed access unless advised otherwise as a guest. Maybe that was what made the estate such a safe place for the residents, because they did not need to worry about strangers suddenly coming in and doing harm. Reaching the gates, she spoke some words to the guard there, he looked at some papers, told her that her name and image was down as a resident already and explained to her how to gain access back in, giving her a swipe card as well. Nakisha thanked him, knowing it would make things better when she returned later that day. Walking a short distance down the road, she saw the car waiting for her. Going to the rear passenger door, she opened it and got in, putting her belt on and then looked around to the older man that was sitting in the other seat behind the driver. “Did Linda buy a new house!” the man asked. “No...” Nakisha replied looking down at her lap. “Do not tell me you have given in to her idea to please for money!” he gasped at her. “Not... Quite.” Nakisha stated, feeling sad. “Kisha!” he gasped. “Please, it is not what you are thinking.” Nakisha stressed. “Look, maybe in a few months time, I’ll be able to stand on my own two feet and you can stop worrying.” “Ok... I trust you.” he replied. “Just as long, as things we plan, do not get messed up.” “No.” Nakisha said with a heavy sigh. “This wont affect that.” “Ok. Good.” he replied with a smile. “Am I dropping you at the University?” “Yes.” she replied with a nod. “I have to do a catch up lesson.” “I thought the Performing Arts was only part time.” he commented. “It is. I am going there for the other stuff.” she replied. “Ok.” he nodded. “Do you need a lift back later?” “I will manage. I will call if not.” she replied. Nakisha gave him a small smile and he nodded at her smiling back. She watched as he leaned back into the seat, pulled out some papers from the case he had at his feet and was running through them with a pen. She just sat in silence, looking out the window, thinking about everything that took place the day before, hoping that she could come up with some way to support herself so she could leave the situation she was in. She may be married now, but she did not want to be in a loveless relationship. When the car pulled up in front of the University, Nakisha thanked the driver, thanked the man for picking her up with a quick hug and then got out, making her way in through the gates of the University. She saw a few students wondering around, chatting laughing. She let out a sigh, missing her best friend. She felt lonely, even with people around her like the step mother and step sister, her younger brother, the man in the car. She still felt very alone. She did not get close to people, she hated losing people, so she always was distant with anyone that came into her life, so at University she kept her head down, studied hard and did not get too involved in anything outside of the classroom.
