Chapter 7 – A Third of Her

1680 Words
To make sure that Nakisha did not meet up with another man behind his back again, Michal arranged for a new car and a driver for her. He could tell when she was about to leave the house this morning, Monday, she was less then impressed when Ms June told her the arrangements he had made. They had been sitting at the dinning table, in silence the whole morning as they had breakfast, and he saw the way she looked up at him and glared. He just glared right back at her. It was clear she was not a silly girl, she understood the meaning of him getting her a car and a driver. It meant he was keeping a very close watch on her and she disliked it. Yet for him to trust her, and to keep her safe, he needed to make sure she did not meet with anyone else without his consent. After Nakisha left the house for University, Michal got in the car with Ben and they went straight to the office where he was the CEO, the boss, the owner. It was a large building, thirty two stories high and his office was on the top floor. The reception and cafe were on the ground floor, some meeting rooms on the first and second floor. Offices all the way up and ten more meeting rooms on the thirtieth and thirty first floors. On the top floor with him were the offices for the higher positioned staff. The moment Michal came up from the under ground paring lot, staff would stop and bow to him in greeting. They all showed respect, they all knew he was the boss and regardless of his physical situation, they all knew he was powerful and dangerous. Ben pushed him into the office elevators and they went all the way up the top level. Entering his office, Michal felt at peace. This was where he belonged, managing a large multi billion empire. Not at home babysitting a silly little girl. She was twenty, eight years young then him, she technically was a woman now, yet she still had a young, fresh innocent air about her. Letting out a sigh, he could not even believe that right now, it was her that was on his mind like that. Shifting from the wheelchair, to his high back office chair, Michal gave Ben a nod who put the wheelchair away into a cupboard and then left Michal to his own, to go through the pile of paperwork on his desk. An hour after his sat down, Jamie arrived, bringing him his morning coffee. A double shot latte with one sugar and a teaspoon full of vanilla chi. It was a combination that many thought was strange, but it was very soothing for him. It was rich in strength, but smooth on the taste. It was how he had always liked his coffee, ever since he was in his late teen years. If it was not done right, he would know, so that was why Jamie always made sure to go to the same speciality coffee shop that made it, before she would enter his office to deliver the mail. Thanking her with a grunt, she left the office and Michal sat back, taking a sip of the coffee, enjoying it. Yes, he drank coffee at home, which was always a basic flat white. While it was not the way he liked his coffee, Ms June always made it with care for him, so he never complained. After all, he did have an Aunty-Nepthew like respectful relationship with his head maid. She had been a part of the Goodford family since before he was born and when he shifted from the main house to his privet residence, she followed, to continue working for him and the family, hoping one day, she would be able to look after his own children. Children... It was something all of his family wanted. He knew a number of people doubted he would even be able to perform well enough to have children, but they were foolish. He just had never been interested in anyone enough to go so far as to do that. No, he was not a virgin, he had in fact had intercourse before, but he was not a kiss and tell kind of guy. That situation, was difficult and there had been no strings attached as far as he was concerned, so he did not think anything would come back to bite him on the rear about it. In that, he knew very well he could perform well. He just, was not sure how he felt about having children. They were cute, but they were also annoying. He did not know how he would feel if he was to have his own, but now he was married... He was going to have to do something. There was a knock on the door and with a strong acceptance of entry, the door opened and glancing up, he saw his assistant Christian walking in. The tall man walked gracefully across the room, did not say anything, but dropped a thin folder down onto the desk in front of Michal and then took a seat on the lunge, lazing back and crossing a leg. They did not need to speak to know what each were thinking. Michal picked up the folder and looked through it, knowing it was information on Nakisha. Unfortunately, it was a lot less then he had wanted to receive, however, it was at least something, more then his Grandmother had told him. Nakisha Shaw was a twenty year old University student. She is the daughter and only child of Jackson and Emma Shaw. Emma Shaw passed away from cancer when Nakisha was only five years old. When she was ten years old Jackson Shaw married Linda Scott, who had a daughter Cindy Scott who was now twenty two years old. The same year Jackson and Linda married, Linda had a son, named Jack, who was ten now. When Nakisha was fifteen years old, her father passed away from a heart attack. Presently, Linda Shaw claimed ownership of Shaw Enterprise, which had been Jackson’s own company. This confused Michal. Linda was a second wife, if anyone should own Shaw Enterprise it would be the first born and that was Nakisha. Second in line would be the son, Jack. So for the second wife to own it, did not sit very well Michal at all. “Christian, investigate why Linda Shaw is the owner of Shaw Enterprises.” Michal stated. “In progress, I felt you would ask that.” Christian spoke with a smirk. “Good.” Michal replied. He looked down, studying the information further. Nakisha was enrolled in University, studying Performing Arts. Michal frowned, not liking the idea that she was at University doing something so... Boring. So many performers had approached him and he had never been interested. He always hated those type of people. They were always so full of themselves, expecting so much and always being in the media for scandals. He did not like the idea of Nakisha bringing his family name down. Why did his grandmother think a Performing Artist would be a good suit for the family? It made no sense to him. Shaking his head he continued to read through, though he did not get far before he stopped and paused at a detail. He went back to the information he had been reading before and then flipped again to the details he had been reading. There were two things he did not understand and he looked up at Christian with a deep frown. “She has an IQ of one hundred and sixty two!” Michal stated. “Yeah, seems like she is two points higher then you my friend.” Christian smirked teasing. “Who cares about that.” Michal complained. “Why is a twenty year old who has an IQ of one hundred and sixty two only studying Performing Arts! It is a wasted talent of the brain!” “Didn’t you say she went to University yesterday, to do a make up class because she missed her Saturday class.” Christian stated. “Yeah.” Michal said with a nod. “So take a look at the Performing Arts schedule.” Christian stated. “I did, which is why I am confused.” Michal said feeling annoyed and angry. “She must have lied to me. There is no Saturday classes for Performing Arts. It is only a part time subject schedule. She has a high IQ, she can act. She has tried to fool me. I bet she went there and then left again. I bet she knew all along I did not trust her and I would follow her!” “Either way, something strange is going on with that woman.” Christian stated. “I want you to keep digging, find me everything you can, even if you have to ask my grandmother for information.” Michal stated. “Can I meet this cheeky little sneaky wife of yours?” Christian asked. “Forget it!” Michal growled. “I wont let her meet my friends if I can not trust her.” “Aww. I was hoping to have a little fun figuring her out.” Christian complained. “She is not that simple to handle.” Michal grumbled. “Spoil sport,” Christian huffed. Michal simply gave him a dangerous look and then went back to the documents. There was not much more information. What Christian had provided was more a public grab of information, something anyone could find. He knew he would have to wait a little longer to get more information, which frustrated him, but he had to simply play along with her game until the information came. Once he knew what she really was up to, then he would make her pay for lying to him and making him out to be a fool.
