16 Golden sunlight streamed over the museum, falling upon Welman plaza with the promise of a brand-new day. A day that was already tainted by death and destruction. Broken bodies were scattered among the ruins of scorched drones. Men and women in gray uniforms and heavy vests, all dead. The sight of it turned Anna’s stomach, to say nothing of the smell. The stench of blood and burnt plastic filled the air. She gagged, clapping a hand over her mouth, bending double as if to empty her stomach.
