The green grasses were touching my palm, little sunlight and cool air touching my skin. I am sitting behind the tree where I can see the pond from far away. Anne went home early because she's worried that Tita will be mad at her. Well, me? I'm already used it.
I have nothing important to do at home so I spent my time building a small house using the branches that I saw everywhere.
"That's a cool tree house," narinig kong sabi ni Kendrick sa likod.
"Does it look like-" lumingon ako sa direksyon kung saan ko narinig ang boses na iyon.
Who are you? I thought he was Kendrick.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Did I scare you?" naglakad siya papunta sa harap at sinuri ang maliit na bahay na ginawa ko kanina, "By the way, I'm Deux."
"Where are you from? Are you the new orphan?" I asked him while cleaning the mess all around the house that I built earlier.
"Actually... no," he's also helping me to clean it, "You don't know me? Are you serious?"
"I'm sorry, I don't know you," umupo na ako pagtapos kong maglinis.
Is he famous or something? Well, I guess I'm outdated from the news.
"I'm Deux FERNSBY," he really emphasized his surname like I care. I don't even know that that surname exists.
"And? Why are you here?"
"Is this an interview of something?" umupo na rin siya sa tabi ko kaya umusog ako ng kaunti para makaupo rin siya nang maayos. "Tell me about yourself."
"Why?" I simply asked.
The person that I only trust is myself. Sometimes I can't even trust myself. I don't know if this person is trustworthy or not.
Should I say something?
"My name is Skye Vermont," he looked at me when he heard what I said. Nagtataka rin akong napatingin sa kaniya, "What? Is... there something wrong?"
"Skye," napatingin siya sa langit na parang may inaalala, "It's just.. it's familiar but I'm not sure if it's you or not."
"Haven't you read my name from somewhere, have you?"
"Sa Pagkakatanda ko, hindi ko iyon nabasa eh. Narinig ko lang," he whispered.
Oh, he thought that I couldn't understand that language. I also thought that he couldn't speak Tagalog. D*mn, I made an effort to speak and understand him.
"So, bakit at paano ka napunta rito?" halatang nagulat siya dahil sa sinabi ko.
Napatingin siya sa bagay na nasa kamay niya. It's like a clock na makikita sa bahay pero maliit yung sa kaniya.
"What's that-" hindi ko na natapos ang sasabihin ko dahil bigla rin siyang nagsalita.
"Oh, I think I need to go now. See you when I see you!" tumakbo siya papunta sa kaliwang direksyon. That direction looks familiar tho'.
Napagdedisyunan ko na rin umuwi dahil malapit na maglunch. Hahanapin at sesermonan na naman ako ni Tita Meng. I ran as fast as I can, then huminto ako sa tapat ng bahay ay tinanggal ang pawis na tumulo sa sentido ko. I felt my birthmark.
Before entering the house, I catch my breath so that Tita Meng will not notice that I left the house without permission again.
While putting my shoes quietly back in the shoe rack, I heard some noise behind. "You left without me? Aw," nagulat ako sa biglang pagsulpot ni Kendrick. Lagi na lang 'to sumusulpot na parang kabute.
"Am I supposed to be always with you? Are you like my father or something?" pagtataray ko.
"Ang sungit mo naman. Sumbong kita kay Tita na umalis ka na naman eh."
"Hey! I'm just joking. Hindi ka naman mabiro," I akwardly laugh.
Naglakad na kami papunta sa silid kainan para makakain na. Kompleto kaming kumain doon at masayang nagkwekwentuhan.
After we ate lunch, busy na naman sila sa pagsasagot ng kung ano-ano sa kanilang kwaderno.
As usual, lalabas ulit ako para panoorin ang paglubog ng araw. I feel a little bit of joy and sadness every time I look at it that's why it becomes my hobby now.
"Can I come?" tanong ni Kendrick habang sinusuot ko ang sapatos ko.
"No," pagtapos kong magsuot ng sapatos, tumayo na ako ang handa na akong pihitin ang hawakan ng pinto.
"Okay," he simply said. "Tita Me-" mabilis kong tinakpan ang bibig niya.
"Panira ka talaga eh 'no. You know my weaknesses," I said.
He smiled widely to tease me. Nagsimula na siyang magsuot ng sapatos at nauna nang magbukas ng pinto.
"Alam mo Skye, you don't have to tell me. I know na interesado ka rin sa mga sinasabi ko kahapon. So, do you want to know more?" he asked.
Hindi ko siya sinagot at patuloy lang sa paglalakad. Plano kong panoorin ang paglubog ng araw malapit sa maliit na bahay na ginawa ko kanina.
"Do you know what's going on sa mundo ngayon? I conducted some research earlier about it and I'm surprised because of what I learned. Alam mo ba na-"
"Hindi ko pa alam."
I heard him chuckled because of what I said. "You'll regret not listening to me soon," binigyan niya ako ng tipid na ngiti pagtapos niyang sabihin sa akin iyon.
"Look, I'm sorry pero wala talaga akong pakielam sa mga trivias or topics na sinasabi mo. I'll forget about it soon kaya wala ring kwenta kapag sinabi mo iyan sa akin. I'm not good at memorization because my mind and I are lazy to think," I seriously explained to him.
"Isn't you and your mind the same?" he asked while kicking all the stones in front of him.
"I guess...?"
Nang makita ko na ang maliit na bahay na ginawa ko kanina, umupo na ako at tinignan kung matibay ba ang pagkakagawa ko.
"You did this?" umupo na rin siya sa tabi ko at sinuri ang ginawa ko.
"Siguro yung mga langgam gumawa nito," I joked.
"I hate you."
"I hate you more."
The sun is slowly falling down, a cold breeze starting to hug me, the remaining light from the sun is reflecting on the pond. Hindi ko na tinignan nang matagal ang araw dahil nakakasilaw. Instead, I look directly at Kendrick's eyes to admire the beauty of it.
Umiwas ako ng tingin nang tumingin siya sa akin. Tnanaw ko na lang ang lawa mula sa malayo pero nakatingin pa rin siya sa akin.
I faced him and said "What?".
"You're ugly."
"I know."
The grasses here are so green. It is greener then the leaves of the trees.I really love the nature because it is natural. Napaisip tuloy ako kung totoo ba yung sinabi sa akin ni Anne na posibleng kayang gawin ng mga tao ang kalikasan. How can someone copy these ?
