Chapter 9: Jealous

"What?! Are you going with him? What were you thinking, Chleo? Do you think your father will allow you to go with him?" Dred's forehead creased when Chleo told him that she was going with Kirko to another place. "As if he could stop me. And besides, he is too busy to even bother about me." Chleo raised her brows. Dred just shook his head. She was packing her things when Dred knocked on her door at the hotel. "Your dad is concerned and cares about you, Chleo. He is just too busy with business, but he sees to it that he has time to ask me about you." Dred tried to convince Chleo. But knowing Chleo, she didn't listen to anyone. "Can you just help me instead of arguing with me?" Chleo utters as she throws some of her clothes at Dred. Dred has no choice but to get those clothes and place them neatly in Chleo's luggage. "Make sure to always update me, okay? Whenever you feel unusual or in danger, call me immediately." "You are one of the executives in the hotel, Dred. You are not my bodyguard. So, don't bother yourself too much about me." Chleo closes his luggage and opens the door to go out. But Dred stops him when she is about to go out of that room. "I'm just concerned about you, Chleo. I don't want anything bad to happen to you, and that guy might put you in danger," Dred sincerely told Chleo. Chleo heaved a heavy sigh before responding, "Thank you for your concern, Dred. But you have your own life. So, try to get a life. And stop babysitting me for my father, okay? You are a good person and still young. You deserve to enjoy life." "How can I enjoy life knowing your life is in danger? Just let me care for you, okay?" Dred held Chleo's hand and smiled at her. When suddenly they heard a gentle cough. Then they noticed Kirko there, his brows furrowed as he looked at them. "Mr. Hanasawa, how long have you been there?" Dred asked Kirko as he let go of Chleo's hand. "I just got here," Kirko replied, his eyes on Chleo. "Are you done? We have to go. The car is ready." He informs her. Chleo was about to speak, but Dred interrupted. "Can you assure me of Chleo's safety if she goes with you?" Dred inquired, making Kirko's forehead crease. "I don't want to be rude, Mr. Hanasawa. Forgive me if I sounded like that. But I just want to make sure that she will be okay there." "I can assure you of that. I have lots of bodyguards to protect us, so you don't have to worry about her," Kirko answered. He then glanced at Chleo. "Can we go, now?" "Yeah. We are going now. I'll call you once we arrive there. Goodnight, Dred." Chleo gave him a hug, then pulled her luggage and was about to push Kirko's wheelchair, but Dred stopped her. "Let me help you," Dred offered, then pushed Kirko's wheelchair. ***** In the basement parking area, Kirko's bodyguards are waiting for them. They immediately transfer Kirko to the van while scanning the area for possible threats. "Update me once you get there, okay?" Dred told Chleo. Chleo gave him a bored look and said, "Get a life, Dred. I will be fine there. You know that I can handle myself." "Hop in. We have to go," Kirko says, opening the van door and interrupting. "I have to go. Bye, Dred." Chleo gives him a hug and enters the van. Escorted by so many bodyguards, Dred watches them as they go. On their way to the place where Kirko will stay, the two do not talk to each other. But Kirko can't stop glancing at Chleo. "Staring is bad," Chleo utters all of a sudden, making Kirko startled and look in the other direction. But he couldn't help staring back at Chleo's face. "I'm going to take a nap. Just wake me up when we reach the place. Don't dare take advantage of me while I'm sleeping. I have my syringe with me," Chleo warns Kirko as she leans down to sleep. "H-hey! What do you think of me? A maniac?" Kirko exclaimed. He can't believe what he just heard. "The way you look at me, I'm starting to believe that you are." Chleo looks at Kirko, then closes her eyes to take a nap. "What?! Hah!" Kirko let out a loud breath. He is about to scold Chleo, but when he looks at her face with her eyes closed, he is mesmerized once again. He couldn't help but smile as he shook his head. "She looks like an angel as she sleeps." "I can hear you," Chleo mumbled. "Psh! Just sleep." Kirko simply let himself enjoy the moment as he observed Chleo soundly snoozing while they were traveling. But when they reach the place where he is going to stay with his nurse, Chleo, Kirko frowns when Chleo receives a call from Dred. "Yes, Dred. We are already here, and we are safe. You don't have to worry about me, okay? I have to hang up now. Bye. Just tell Mikuru that I will update her and the hospital about Mr. Hanasawa's condition. Thank you." She ended the call, and her brow furrowed when she saw Kirko's expression. "What's the matter? Did your legs hurt?" she asked. With that question, an idea popped into Kirko's mind. "Uhm. Yeah. I felt a little pain here," he replied, pointing at his leg. "Alright. Let me take you to your room. I will massage your legs." Chleo pushed Kirko's wheelchair to his room. She was unable to see Kirko's expression. She wasn't aware that Kirko was unable to contain the triumphant smile on his face. Chleo took Kirko into his room in that resthouse. Instead of staying at a hotel, Kirko decided to transfer to a rented resthouse. No one knows that they are in that place, and they are surrounded by bodyguards for their safety. ***** "What is that?" Chleo's forehead wringled as she looked at the paper bag that Kirko gave her. "A phone?" Kirko answered. "I know this is a phone. What I mean is, why are you giving me this?" Chleo is standing in front of Kirko, her hand at her waist. "You have to turn off your other phone and use it. That way they are not going to trace our location," Kirko explained. "Fine. But can I still call myself Dred or Mikuru?" Hearing Dred's name, Kirko's brow furrows. "Our safety is more important than doing some chitchat with your boyfriend," Kirko said grumpily. "Dred is not my boyfriend. Why do you sound like a grumpy, jealous boyfriend? Do I have a possessive patient here?" Chleo inquired, raising her brow. Kirko choked when he heard what Chleo said. "Hey! Are you okay?" Chleo gently taps Kirko's back. Then he gave him a glass of water. "Here, drink this." "T-thank you," Kirko utters after drinking the water. "It's your fault. Can you stay away from me?" Kirko felt uncomfortable, which is why he was dismissing Chleo. "I'm your nurse; what did I do to you? And how can I stay away from you if I have to monitor you and take care of you?" Chleo looked puzzled. "Yeah. Come to think of it, you have to monitor my condition and take care of me because you are my private nurse. That's why from now on you are not allowed to talk to that guy," Kirko declared. "What?! Just because I'm your private nurse, I'm not allowed to talk to my friend anymore?" Chleo's forehead creased. "Yeah. Hand me your phone. I have to confiscate it. To make sure of our safety." He extended his hand to Chleo. Asking for her phone. But Chleo just gives Kirko a smirk, then turns around to walk out. "Get it if you can." Despite being in a wheelchair, Kirko was able to react quickly and grip Chleo's arm. Because of that, Chleo landed in his lap. They both gasped in shock. Kirko's eyes widened, realizing their faces were inches away from each other. Their hearts are both racing. And when Kirko's eyes landed on Chleo's pinkish, luscious plump lips, he felt an urge to kiss her. But before he could do what he was thinking. . . "Don't you dare do whatever you are planning to do," Chleo warned him, showing him the syringe she was holding.
