Chapter 7: Investigated

1076 Words
"So, she is Cleopatra Santillan? She is the illegitimate daughter of the owner of this hotel, and she is not on good terms with her stepmother and stepsister." Kirko is talking to his private investigator on the other hand. "Yes, sir. And based on the information I gather, there have been several attempts on her life," the private investigator added. "And her stepmother and sister are behind those attempts?" Kirko inquired. "Yes, sir. But there is no concrete evidence, which is why they have nothing to do with them yet," the private investigator notified. "Do you think those assassination attempts were for her, not me?" Kirko asked his private investigator. "We are not sure about that, sir. They killed the assassin who entered your hotel room. Maybe they killed him so that no one will know who was behind that assault." "Update me if you find out something about that again." Then Kirko ended the call. He leans on the couch, thinking as he murmurs to himself, "It means there's a possibility that she is the target of those assassination attempts, not me." "So, you had me investigate, huh?" Kirko's eyes widened when he heard Chleo's voice. He got up from leaning on the couch to look at her. "Don't you really know how to knock? I'm going to have a heart attack because of you," Kirko complains, caressing his chest. "Psh! You really get startled easily. Are you still not used to me? And besides, you are an athlete; you supposedly have strong reflexes and senses." Chleo rolled her eyes as she approached Kirko. "Are you insulting me? And what are you doing here? I didn't ask you to come here." Kirko grumpily responds to Chleo. "You're not answering my question. Did you have me investigated?" Chleo is now standing in front of Kirko. "Yes. I have to do that to be sure of my safety. And I guess it's not safe to be with you," Kirko said, looking straight at Chleo. Kirko is not expecting what Chleo will do next. She leans down, placing her arms at Kirko's side and cornering him on the couch. "H-hey! What are you doing?" Kirko asked, stuttering. "You had me investigated because you thought that you were not safe with me, huh? What are you planning, then? You want to replace me? With whom? To those girls who are fangirling you: Or, fantasizing about you?" Chleo utters those words. Her face is an inch away from Kirkos's. "Of course not..." Kirko was almost holding his breath. His heart was racing too. "Would you please get away from me?" "Why? Are you afraid of me?" Chleo asked, smirking. "Tsk! Why would I? It should be you who are frightened of me." It was Kirko's turn to smirk at Chleo. Then he placed his arms around Chleo's waist. Making Chleo's smirk fade. Her expression became serious as she tried to distance herself from Kirko. "Get your hand off me," Chleo hissed. "What will you do if I don't do that?" Kirko inquired, challenging Chleo. "I'll make sure that you're going to regret not doing what I asked you to do," Chleo replied. The two looked at each other for almost a minute. No one wants to give up. Until Kirko notices something in Chleo's hands, "What is that?" He quickly distanced himself from Chleo. "What? This?" Chleo showed Kirko what she was holding. And Kirko's hunch is right. Chleo is holding a syringe. "A syringe again?" Kirko exclaimed. "Are you even allowed to have that anywhere you go?" "Why not? This is just a tranquilizer." Chleo shrugged her shoulders as she stood up straight, looking at the syringe. "Don't dare use that on me. I will sue you, I swear." Kirko warned Chleo. "Why should I do that? Unless you provoked me to use this against you," Chleo answered. "Why are you like that? You are supposedly taking care of me. But you are stressing me out. I really need to talk to your head nurse. I want you to be replaced. I'm willing to pay no matter how much it costs," Kirko declared. "Well, if that is the case, you have to prepare yourself to be with those women who are dying to get near you. I can recommend many, actually. Do you want me to call the hospital for you?" Chleo asked Kirko sarcastically. "Tsk! Okay, I'd rather be with an eccentric nurse like you. Then to lose my privacy because of those women. But am I safe with you knowing that there's a threat in your life too?" Kirko inquired, looking at Chleo. "Well, to be honest, I'm not sure about that. But don't worry. I will try to revive you, no matter what happens. In case you get injured while you are with me," Chleo gave Kirko a menacing smile. "What? Hah! You are extremely impossible!" Kirko made a frustrated remark. "Whatever! Take your medicine. After that, I'm going to massage your legs. Your therapist won't be able to come here today. But your doctor asked me to give your legs a massage," Chleo explained as she opened the bag she placed on the table. "You're the one who's going to massage my leg?" Kirko asked in disbelief. "I study reflexology as well. Do not worry that I might break your leg or damage your muscles. On second thought, I can do that because you just invaded my privacy by having me investigated." Chleo started by removing Kirko's slipper, and then she lifted his pajamas up to his knees. Kirko tried to get up, but he still couldn't move his legs. "H-hey! Don't you dare touch me." He felt uneasy. Chleo didn't mind him and started the massage on Kirko's ankle. After a while, Kirko started to relax, and he felt his muscles relax. After a while, Kirko started to relax, and he felt his muscles relax because of the massage therapy Chleo was doing to his legs. And he couldn't help but stare at the beauty in front of him. But his imagination was ruined when Chleo talked. "Don't you know that it was bad to stare?" Chleo uttered it without looking at Kirko. "I'm not staring at you. Why should I?" He then turned his gaze in another direction. But he couldn't help but return his gaze to Chleo's face. But again, Kirko was interrupted when they suddenly heard a knock on the door.
