My First Shift

May 28th the last day of high school and two weeks til my birthday! I am so ready to hang out with Tasha and Hailey, my best friends, and start working for the National Park as a trail guide! My mom and dad along with Tasha and Hailey's parents are throwing us an end of the school year party (also known as our parents like to party) tonight at our house. We live beside the Sumter National Forrest and have a beautiful view of the forest from our backyard. We invited everyone tonight, but I'm excited to see if Reid comes tonight. I sometimes catch him looking at me, but I'm not sure if he likes me or doesn't like me. We decided to get ready at Tasha's house so that everything will be a surprise tonight. Since it's May and the nights get cool I decided to wear my favorite jeans, the one my mom says have more holes than material, and a lit shirt I got at the mall last week. I think this shirt makes me look hot, I hope Reid thinks so. Tasha and Hailey think Reid likes me, but I don't know, he confuses me by the way he looks at me, sometimes he looks p****d! *Reid's thoughts Last month I noticed a girl at school that I'm drawn to, she isn't pack but I can smell her wolf. Taylor is beautiful, she is short and has all the curves! But her smell is what's driving me and Rainer(my wolf) crazy, she smells like vanilla and lavendar, I feel the need to wrap her up in my arms and never let her go. Miles, my best friend and the next Alpha of our pack, knows I'm drawn to Taylor and likes to bust my balls about her. My packs Alpha, Sage, thinks that Taylor may be adopted and that she isn't aware that she's a wolf because her parents aren't wolves, we would've known if there were adult shifters nearby. It's just unusual for a shifter to meet their wolf so late, Taylor must be almost 18 since she's graduating, but Alpha thinks she hasn't shifted because she doesn't know that she can. Which is weird because I've always felt Rainer, even before I shifted. * Reids last day of high school Today I was approached by Tasha, she's cute but not my type, she asked me if I was coming to the party tonight. My Alpha approved Miles and I to go to the party, we aren't normally allowed to go to "human" parties, our parents don't like us hanging around with them anymore than we have to. I'm also not allowed to tell Taylor about her wolf, just thinking about her has my hands sweating. "Get it together bro" Miles laughs. "We might show up" I tell Tasha, that seems to tick her off, which makes me grin. "Now why did you go and do that? Do you want her friends to hate you? You need allies man not enemies!" Miles informs me. Gah! Taylor is making me crazy, I'm not normally such a jerk. "Bruh, I'm not sure how much more I can deal with this and not do something! Even Rainer is loosing it, he is pushing me to mark her as mine!" Miles tries to talk me down "You know you can't do that yet man, she doesn't even know what she is, yet." I suddenly feel the need to get away from everyone and take off for the forest behind our school, screw the last day! *Taylor Tasha asked Reid today if he was coming tonight and he blew her off! She was so mad at him and told me that maybe he's not the guy for me. I don't know though, there's something about him that attracts me. It's strange I never really thought about him before, I mean he's hot, but I just always thought he was out of my league. Then all of a sudden I can't keep my eyes off him or my mind from thinking about him. I don't really know much about him, he's always with his friends Miles and Trevor, but they don't hang out with anyone else from our school. I've never seen Reid with a girl at school, other than his cousin Corie, but I know a lot of girls have tried to date him and his friends. Oh well, I just have to hope that he'll be at the party tonight and I don't make myself look like freak staring at him! THE PARTY When we get to my house the party is just starting, our parents have went over the top! They hired a FREAKING Band! The backyard looks amazing with lights twinkling in the nearby trees. "OMG, they did it again!" Tasha squeals, she loves a good party and our parents like to go a little nuts when they get to have a party for us. I catch myself searching for Reid, but I haven't found him yet. Hailey notices me looking depressed and calls me out, "Taylor, you don't even know him! Don't let him ruin our party because he's not here! But look who's coming now, Matt!" Great just the guy I've been trying to avoid for the last two weeks, I broke up with him around the same time I started noticing Reid. I never really thought our relationship was going anywhere, but Matt sure did and now he is relentless! "Taylor you look hot!" Matt leers at me and tries to pull me into a kiss. Geez when did he become such a sleazeball! "Matt, I told you we aren't together anymore. Please don't touch me again!" Just then dad walked up, "Is there a problem Matt?". "No sir, I was just telling Taylor how great she looks" Matt lied. But my dad's not an i***t and can see that I am upset, he gets in Matt's face "If I ever see you touch her again, I will make you regret it!" Matt looks white as a ghost, stutters "Yes sir" and rushes out the gate just as Reid walks in. I swear everything stops as he takes in the party, its as if he is looking for something or someone, and then his eyes land on me. *Reid I think my heart just stopped, she is breathtakingly beautiful. Her long dark brown hair hangs to her waist, with just a little wave, I bet its soft. And her eyes, her eyes are my favorite color of green with just a little gold mixed in, man I could just stare into them all night! I hear someone clear their throat and chuckle behind me, Miles. I just know he's going to give me a hard time about this, he hasn't found his mate and thinks its funny how miserable I've been. Yes, I've realized that Taylor is my Mate and now I have to wait til she meets her wolf before I can have her. My Alpha and parents are happy for me, but they are concerned because we don't know her family or if they know shifters exist. When I'm near her I can barely keep it together, I'm so drawn to her and Rainer is not helping, he's loosing his mind because he desires our Mate and wants to mark her as ours. I've decided I'm going to talk to Taylor tonight, wish me luck! *Taylor OMG! Reids here and he's looking straight at me, what do I do?! Hailey looks at me and then to where I'm staring and laughs, "Girl you've got it bad" What a great friend she is, lol, just kidding she's the greatest. Anyway, back to my current situation, what am I supposed to do? Should I walk up to him and say "Hi", no I'm to nervous. Maybe I should act like I didn't notice him here, play hard to get. Yeah thats what I'm going to do, wait why is he smiling? It's like he can read my mind, well that's creepy! Oh gosh, here he comes! *Reid She's cute when she's flustered. She seemed upset when I got here, but now she seems really nervous. Do I have the same effect on her that she has on me? I feel sorry for her if she does, because she doesn't even know why she feels the way she does and her life is about to change dramatically.
