Rachel's P.O.V
After waking up on Sunday morning to an empty bed and a note
Wild nights - Wild nights! Were I with thee Wild nights should be Our luxury! Futile - the winds - To a Heart in port - Done with the Compass - Done with the Chart! Rowing in Eden - Ah - the Sea! Might I but moor - tonight - In thee! ~Mia
I caught a bus back home and not long after walking through the door I was met with my mother. Who pushed a hot cup of coffee towards me on the counter and gestured to the seat in front of her. "Do you want to talk about it?" My mothers voice questioned after a few minutes of pause. "I can't remember the last time someone called me princess." My voice was barely over a whisper but I knew she heard me and I knew she understood me. "You were 9." She responded equally as quite as me. "Your father use to love to call you his little princess." She smiled at the memories. "The last thing he said before he left the house was." She paused for a moment before she let out a sad laugh as tears started to fill her eyes. "He said I'll see you later my princess." I slid out of my chair to walk to my mother's side. Then wrapped my arms around her as she began to sob. I've only seen my mother cry once before and that was at the end of The Notebook. Every time she brings up dad though she did everything but cry. She smiled, laughed, and occasionally cringed at the memories of him but she never cried. That was love. Love was everything from smiles to laughs to the cringe worthy and the teary eyed. Love shouldn't just be one thing it shouldn't just be desire and wanting from one side. Love should be infinite between two hearts, ever expanding ever-changing form.
"His princess was so young and unafraid While her princess is old and petrified by fate His princess wears pigtails smiles with a gap and dances to old jazz But her princess cut her hair 3 years ago got brace's to fix her gap and only dances with her back to an unnamed front Princesses grow in order to become queens on the way they loose what made them great leaving a girl covered in leather and mistakes His princess was buried by her queen"
I strummed the guitar for a few seconds before ending the song. The Sunday night crowd was completely different then the Friday night crowd. This one was much smaller and filled with way more drunk people. But they clapped their hands and swayed anyway. "So you're the famous Friday night tweety I've heard so much about." The girl behind the bar approached me once I returned back to my barstool. Her dark brown hair was cut into a pixie hairstyle. While black eyeliner made a winged tip on both ends of her eyes that made her pink colored eye contacts stand out more. "Yeah I guess that's me." I smiled at her as she put a glass of water in front of me. "I'm Elizabeth but most just call me lizard." she reached her hand out to me. "I'm Rachel but most just call me tweety as you know." I gave her hand a shake "that's a pretty intense song" she leaned over the bar resting on her breast to talk to me. Since everyone who needed a drink already had one and anyone who didn't need a drink were already passed out. "Yeah I guess it is." I responded before taking a sip of my water. "How did that come about?" She stared at me curious. "You want the long story or the short one?" Lizard let out a little laugh before responding. "How about the short answer for now you can save the long one for when you're accepting your Grammy." A smile took over my face at the thought of holding my own statue with my name engraved on it. "Well the song is basically about change. Changing from the innocent you where to the not so innocent you are now and dealing with it." "Have you been changing a lot lately?" "Aren't we all changing? All the time" I question. "Yeah but something had to change pretty drastically for something like that to come out of it." She shot back. "Well" I paused "if you must know... very recently I began to see that maybe I've been accepting something beneath what I dissevered, because I wanted to hold on to a dream so the song" I shrugged "is just me saying I lost my crown for while but I'm trying to get it back" "So" she paused for a moment to collect her thoughts "in other words there was a girl?" she replied, I chuckled at the retort and downed the last bit of my water
"Theirs always a girl isn't there?"
