The next morning Ariyah awoke to the smell of more food cooking. She quickly dressed and headed down for breakfast. Everyone from last night was there. They were all just chit chatting with each other until she came in the room and sat in the chair she occupied last night.
Violet said, "We're taking you to the library today to start your mission. The faster you get this done the better off everyone else will be. My contacts are telling me the unrest in our world is getting worse by the day especially since I'm assuming your brothers have all been dethroned and just waiting for your father to pass. They aren't locked up in dungeon cells, but some type of magical device keeps them from shifting. The wolves are starting to mobilize in larger combined packs waiting for their time to attack or to better protect themselves as well. It's a mess out there."
"Wait, so my family is no longer the rulers? If that's true, then who's ruling right now?" She asked.
Carman answered her, "A dragon named Zayden, I believe, and his half blood mate."
Ariyah knew exactly who she was talking about and wondered if she could possibly look in on them through her looking glass. She doubted it worked like that for her. She knew she could contact the witches, but not her family. Right now she was feeling stuck. The last supernatural war ended with alot of species dying out and numbers dwindling to almost nothing. That's why the dragons took over handling the government. Was it right? She now saw it wasn't. There needed to be a democracy of some sort. A council with someone on it representing each faction.
"I know who you're talking about. I've watched them through my Aunts looking glass. One of the last days I was there Zayden brought the girl saying she was a half blood and his mate and that she could help. My brothers were willing to give him control because of my father's health. I don't understand why he'd want it all." She said shaking her head.
Child, he's power hungry and I can guarantee that girl who's been in the human world alot longer has him wrapped around her finger. I feel there is something off going on. Carman, can fae glamor themselves into looking and possibly smelling like another species?" Moxie asked.
Carman thought for a few moments and said, "I've never heard of someone doing it. They usually only glamor to look human. I'm not even sure if the fae are capable of such a thing, but there was a faction of fae that were rumored to be some type of hybrid between vampire and fae. They'd feed off blood and regular food and also have the magic, but from what I understand they were all murdered because they were considered monsters. Then there are the dark fae, but I don't know much about them because they have their own realm away from all others." She shrugged and said, "I'm sorry I wish I knew more. I'd have to be close to her to find out and I don't think that's going to happen any time soon."
Moxie loaded everyone up with snacks and drinks. They all had notebooks and plenty of writing utensils to get through the day. Ariyah thought her learning was over, but there was still so much work to be done. At least she had help with these four other people who are just wanting the same thing she does. Peace.
Moxie led them to what was the central building of the town that conducted all government activities and the library which apparently was underground.
Moxie led them to a back room that appeared to be an office and pulled a book out of a bookcase that opened. A hidden door. This library must really be secret. She led them down the spiral metal stairs into a very large brightly lit room with shelves upon shelves of books. Then there were glass cases of books which must be the ones that were extremely old and needed the most protection. This was absolutely amazing.
When she finally stopped looking around the room right there in the middle at a table already seated was Ryker. What the hell was he doing here and already reading?
She decided to squash this right now and stomped right up to him placing her hands on her hips and tapping her foot until he looked up at her. His eyes were so beautiful she could get lost in them if she truly wanted to. She mentally shook herself and demanded, "What are you doing here?"
He finally looked up at her with a crooked grin, "I'm here to help of course and I'm also your body guard little dragon. Plus to sooner you figure this out the sooner we can all go back to business as usual. Since you've came to town there's been way too much unrest. Especially with the other dragons."
She sighed and just stared down at him for a long moment trying to figure out the right thing to say. She finally decided the truth was the best. "As you know I'm the dragon princess thought dead. I'm also part of the cure for the dragon virus. I have to save our people from extinction. Weather or not you understand that is on you. So if your actually here to help, I need all the information possible on the half bloods. Especially the clan in the states."
He raised his eyebrows at her and just shook his pretty head. "I'll help you. I just wanted the honest truth. I appreciate you sharing that. Now, most of the supernatural world knows you're alive. So, the people in this room have been hand selected by Moxie, Reign, and Emerald. Our mission is to make sure you complete yours and to keep you safe and alive of course. In this library you'll find everything you need to know. We've also set up a lab to run tests on you and find out how to make the cure. This is going to take some time. I'm trying to keep an eye on the situation with your family. It's not easy because of the new regime in place. The girl that came in has now brought in all of the half bloods in the states. She's trying to say that the cure is in them because of how human they are and they're mortality rate is higher once sick than the dragons. She's really just there stalling for time. I believe that somehow the half bloods figured out how to make a virus and have spread it far and wide for revenge against the dragons who cast them out a long time ago. I know from personal experience that like knows like even if we don't realize it and after a few generations of good breeding, half bloods become a very powerful hybrid. Any questions princess?"
"Nope, I believe you covered it all. Now we just need to figure out how they created the virus." Ariyah answered.
"I have a theory on that as well. Human illnesses like cancer, heart issues, lung issues. Anything that can impair the human system will eventually take down a mighty dragon. You add magic to it make it even more powerful to affect the dragon side as well then they're as good as dead. Now I have contacts in the states that are trying to get their hands on the original virus. I'm currently waiting for a report back." Ryker said.
After some discussion on where to look first they separated and started their research. At some point Moxie came in and called Ariyah back to a steril white room with shelves, cabinets, medical supplies and equipment. She had her sit in the chair and she pulled over a tray with a bunch of odd looking things on it.
"What is all this and what are you about to do to me?" Ariyah asked. She was feeling a bit nervous.
"I'm just going to run some blood tests first. Analyze all the data. Then I'll take Ryker's blood and a pure blood dragons blood and compare them all and see why yours is any different. If your different at all. I'm also under the impression a package will be delivered here in the next couple days." Moxie answered.
Ariyah just nodded her head and she watched in fascination as Moxie took her blood in several vials and staffed some away, then took the others into a side room. She got up from the chair and followed her.
This room had more machinery in it along with microscopes and other things she couldn't place a name on. There was a rather large machine in the room with a bed in it.
Moxie motioned for her to come closer to that scarry machine. "This is a MRI machine and CT scanner. I built it myself. It's going to take pictures of your insides so I can look at those too and compare to the others. I know basic dragon anatomy. In a past life I was a supes doctor. I know just about everything about everyone. Yes child I know your going to say why do supes need doctors? Well, dearie sometimes they end up with one ailment or another and I was the one called in to help. Now you need to change into this gown and lay down."
She did everything she was instructed to do. Then she closed her eyes as the machine did its thing.
Moxie ran several more tests on her then had her go get Ryker for his turn. He was standing there with another man who looked alot like him.
They both looked at her as she stepped towards them. The new man stiffened up and looked completely uncomfortable. She stood there and said, "Ryker it's your turn in there."
Her nodded at her then said, " I want you to meet my Uncle Raiden. He's a pure blood as was my father."
