Jax left the room quickly, looking at his wristwatch.
"I'm late” - he thought with a frown on his face,
"and I have a meeting in an hour ... I will not be able to stop, even for breakfast!"
But the worst part, without a doubt, was the fatigue he was feeling.
The exhaustion from not being able to sleep at all during the night and ... if he was sincere ... the feeling of guilt that he had been controlling his mind and feelings.
Tormenting him as he thought about what he had done.
“What a face you have!” - Amy exclaimed from the table in the living room.
The young woman, sitting in front of a plate with some toasts, was drinking an orange juice while smiling openly at him.
As if nothing had happened...
“Amy..."
“Come on, do not look at me like that...” - the young girl murmured as she left the glass, already half-finished, on the table “you have not done anything wrong".
Jax shook his head.
After all, and no matter how hard he had already tried, he could not stop thinking about what had happened.
"It's my fault,” - Jax thought sadly,
"I should not have let myself go ... I should not have!"
And the worst ... the worst thing was that he had not realized Amy's feelings about him.
He had not even imagined it ...
Not until last night.
"Jax ...” - the young woman called him as she got up from the table and approached him with a worried gesture
“do not worry about it ... we are both adults, it doesn't matter at all!".
“It's just that ... that I ..."
I have not forgotten him yet.
I could not erase him from my heart as you did with Jay.
I...
I...
Even though I hate it ... I still LOVE Cole like the first day, maybe even more than before.
“I know ... I know” - the girl muttered with a sad tone of voice
“the only thing I ask for is ...that you let me be close to you, fight for your heart ... nothing more".
Jax bit his lower lip.
Finally, a few seconds later, he raised his face and fixed his gaze on the young woman that was in front of him.
Amy smiled slightly.
Zzzzz...rrriiiiiinggg....zzzzz
The sound of the alarm made Jax glanced at the clock that was hanging on the wall and, minutes later and with a slight growl, turned towards the front door.
“I'm sorry Amy, but I have an urgent meeting"
After which, he left.
Leaving the girl completely alone in an empty apartment.
Alone and with a broken heart.

Meanwhile, in an apartment on the other side of the city ...
Cole growled slightly as soon as he noticed the water that, strangely, someone had dropped on his face.
"Five more minutes ...” - he murmured with a thin voice.
However, the same person who had thrown the water on him began to shake him while giving him several blows to the face.
...
... Cole
... Cole!
“COLE!” - exclaimed Mrs. Powell as she tried, unsuccessfully, for her son to keep his eyes open even if only for a few seconds.
But the young man, sound asleep, hardly reacted to her attempts.
As it is that Cole, again in the arms of Morfeo, was sleeping with a slight smile on his lips while he remembered his days with Jax.
His days and ... even if it was hard for him to admit it, also his nights.
Those nights when Jax made him touch the sky while whispering how much he loved him.
Those nights when his Jax hugged him after making love while watching the stars that could be seen from the balcony of their apartment.
So many nights ...
So many memories...
“Jax ...” - whispered the young man making his mother, who had heard it clearly, frown.
A second later and with a snarl, she got up from the floor and went towards the kitchen door.
SPLASH !!!!
The water in the tub awakened Cole completely, and with a slight cry, he sat down on the floor to look at his mother with an expression of bewilderment on his beautiful face.
“Mum !!"
Mrs. Powell, however, ignored her son's anger and, with a stern face, left the empty bowl on the nearest table.
“COLE POWELL!” - exclaimed the woman with a voice so loud that it made her son cover his ears.
“Shhhh ... lower your voice, my head hurts” - murmured the young man as he removed his hands from his ears and began to rub his red eyes.
His mother, immediately, came and took him by the arm, making him get up.
“How could you be expecting anything else after all you've drunk!” - exclaimed Mrs. Powell as she pointed to the little pile of empty bottles that were next to the young man
“tell me ... Do you want to return to the same thing? Do you want to return to the Health Center once again?"
Cole shook his head quickly.
No...
He did not want to...
He did not want to go back to those days of pain and madness, he did not want to see his daughter crying while he was so drunk that he was barely able to get up from the sofa that was in their living room.
But...
But Amy's matter was the last straw ... the last stab in his battered heart.
A heart that could not stand anything else.
“I'm sorry ...” - murmured the young man quietly while looking down at the ground.
“Stop drinking!” - exclaimed her mother as she picked up some of the bottles and put them in a plastic bag
“and call your work! It's late and ... after looking at you, you better ask for the rest of the day off".
Cole sighed, thinking about how Jax would react.
"I do not think he would even care ...” - he said to himself as he remembered Amy,
"especially now that ... that Amy is with him."
Yes ... maybe his mother was right and it would be better to ask for the day off.
After all, he needed time ...
He needed to rebuild the barriers around his heart and accept that ... maybe ... it was time to say goodbye to Jax.
To kill any hope he could still have that... that the young man would finally return to him.
To live ... even if it was only for his light, for his Ellie.
