Cole opened the door of his apartment with trembling hands.
Once again, he had been hit by reality. A blow that had opened his eyes and that, without a doubt, had finished confirming what everyone already knew.
That Jax was with Amy.
That they were more than friends ...
"No one would come out his home to receive another person in his pants ... and nothing else!” - He thought as he remembered the scene he had seen from the door of the stairs, "
and Amy... the way she was caressing his face..."
Cole slammed the door and, throwing everything on the floor near the entrance, went to the cabinet where his bottles of liquor were.
A few seconds later he had taken them out and, dropping into one of the armchairs, began to drink from the first of the bottles.
Moron.
He was a complete moron...
How could he have thought that Jax could still be interested?...
How could he have thought that, at the very least, he still had some chance of fixing everything and start again with the man?.
What was he thinking?!
“You are an i***t, Cole ... an i***t who has tried to deceive himself” - murmured the young man in a loud voice as he left the bottle, already empty, to the side to take a new one,
"yes, you already knew it... he had already told you this same morning with all that damn date! "
But no...
He had not wanted to remember it ...
Not the girl, not the date ... not even that damn bunch of flowers!
And now...
Now he must be ... with HER.
Kissing her ... caressing her ... After all, why would she go to her apartment at that time if it wasn't for that?
To heal his wounds?
"I'm the only i***t who had thought to do just that!"
The only one who was worried about Jax and his injuries.
But, once again, he had to accept that he was no longer anyone in Jax's life.
That now ... now there was someone else who would take care of him and all his needs.
Cole laughed while thinking of which kind of needs Amy was now in charge of, to immediately let out a sob.
"I need to forget..."
"I need to stop thinking ... or I'll go crazy"
So, with a quick movement, he brought the new bottle to his lips and, without stopping, drained it to the last drop.
After which he took another bottle.
And then another ... finishing more than half of them all.

Mrs. Powell smiled as she watched her granddaughter sleep in her old bed.
The woman was happy, watching their little angel resting after having been playing all afternoon with her grandfather and her.
"At least she has forgotten about the party ...” - she thought while letting out a slight sigh of relief.
After all, just remember the face of her granddaughter when she had realized that her schoolmates were not going to appear, her heart almost stopped.
"It's not fair ... it's just not fair to do something like that to a little girl!"
But the worst thing was that, maybe, it was her fault.
Her's and her husband's.
They were the ones who had insisted on taking her to that school, one of the best in the country, even though her son had commented that it did not seem to be a good idea.
But, as always, her husband had ended up getting his way.
“Your child will be around the ones from the most influential and important families of the country” - her husband had said to the young man who, with glassy eyes and deep circles under his eyes, was lying on one of the sofas of the Health house where he was staying.
“But ... we are not from their world. I do not think it's a good idea ... it can end badly".
But her husband had not wanted to listen to him.
Much less in the state in which Cole was.
After all, he was the head of the family, and Cole ...
Cole was just the son who almost ruined his good name. A son who, finally, had done only one good thing in his life ... that was to have Ellie.
Because in the rest of things... he had turned out to be a complete failure.
Mrs. Powell sighed, trying to forget the hurtful words and bitter gestures of her husband.
"If only he was able to understand ...” - she thought while stroking the little girl's head,
"I already did ... I accepted that ... that we were wrong"
But not him ...
He couldn't change his mind...
Not even when his son had needed him.
But Cole had managed to get out of the abyss into which he had gotten because of the alcohol.
With a lot of effort, but he had achieved it.
But now...
Now that man had returned to their lives ...
And she was starting to fear that.. that things will end in a bad way.
Mrs. Powell looked at the girl's face.
"I will not allow Ellie to suffer again ... even if I have to face my husband or my son” - she vowed with a determined expression on her face.
Yes.
She would face anyone ... even, if necessary, Jax Singleton himself.
No one would hurt his son again ... nor his granddaughter.
Never again!
