Chapter 18

Sages POV

Everything happens so fast. Guards is running threw the doors, shifting into their beasts. I'm ready to shift as well but Valens stops me.

"No, Sage." His stern gaze holds mine and I see every emotion in his cobalt orbs. Fear and anger. I shake my head.

"I can help you. Please let me." I try to go past him but he pushes me behind him, shielding me from the fight outside.

"No. Please for once, just listen to me, Sage. I need you in here and help the kids in safety." His pleading eyes makes me nod.

"Fine, I won't go out." He gives me a smile, peck my lips before he runs out the door. I walk to the large windows and look at the fight outside. Rogues attacking the guards from every side. They are everywhere. A cry pulls my eyes away from the windows and I look behind me. Kids is gathered in a large group with me maids and I'm reminded of my task.

"Please everyone, follow me." I say with a loud voice, making sure everyone hears me. The maids gives me a nod and I walk down the corridor next to the kitchen. Jay showed me the safety room the other day. Valeria and her mother, Victoria, follow behind the group, making sure everyone was following.

We reach the safety room and the kids hurry inside. I close the door and look at Valeria and Victoria.

"I need to help Valens." I say and walk up the stairs.

"Sage, you can't. He told you to stay in here." Valeria objects but I only shake my head. Suddenly I feel the same warm sensation in my body and I feel dizzy. I reach the top stairs but fall to my knees, my head spinning like crazy. What's going on?

"Sage! Are you okay?" Victoria is beside me, trying to help me up but I feel weak all the sudden. Pain radiates through my body and I gasp from the pain.

"I don't feel good." I whisper, sweat is dripping down my forehead. Victoria and Valeria helps me up and follows me to the elevator. I try to stand but my legs gets weaker. What's happening, Sia? 'I don't know, Sage. I feel the same pain.' Her voice is small, barely hearable. We reach my room and they help me in.

"Maybe you're getting sick? I mean, it's not like you can go into.. ehm you know. Heat." Valeria looks at me with a puzzled look. She looks at Victoria. Heat? I can't go into heat. Only marked females go into heat.

"No, it's not heat. It's sound far to painful and you're not marked either, so it can't be it." Victoria explains and I nod in agreement. The pain subsides a little and I take a deep breath. The scent of Victoria and Valeria invades my nostrils and I gulp. I don't want their scent in my room.

"I feel much better now, thank you both so much." I manage to stand up and gently push them to the door.

"Are you sure you want to be alone, dear?" Victoria asks and I fight back a growl. Just get out of here! I'm close to losing my patience and I give her a small smile.

"Yes, thank you." I manage to push them out the door and close it. I can hear the talk on the other side but eventually they go to the elevator. I exhale and pain settles in my abdomen again. I cry out in pain and fall to my knees. The pain hits me more than thousands lashes of wolfsbane. I crawl to the bathroom, desperately wanting the cold water to hit my hot body. I don't bother taking of my clothes. I just need the cold.

I have never experienced anything like this pain. I would rather get lashes with a spiked whip then endure this kind of pain. I cry as another wave hit me. I need you, Valens. I need you.

Jaydens POV

The rogues are everywhere! How the hell did they get this far without being noticed. I bite my way through several rogues, fighting side by side with Valens and Kyle. They keep coming no matter how many we kill.

Screams echo through the forest and Valens snaps his head towards the town. How did they get past us? 'Go check on Sage.' Valens' voice orders in my mind. We look at eachother before I nod and head to the packhouse.

I run past our fighting guards with one goal in mind, keep Sage safe. That is my duty as a beta. I take out a few rogues on my way before I reach the town square. Our guard have the situation under control and I run towards the packhouse. I shift when I reach the stairs and run up. The guard opens the door immediately and omegas is standing ready with clothes. A foreign smell invades my nostrils and I frown. What is that smell? My wolf, Riley is pressing forward, searching for the source.

I see Valeria and Victoria standing in the hall with their eyes glued to the big windows. We can hear the fight outside. I walk over to them, looking around after Sage.

"Where's Sage?" I ask them when I can't see her.

"In her room. She was feeling a little - off." Valeria says with a frown.

"How off?" I ask with a similar frown. Victoria takes her eyes off the fight outside.

"She was a little warm." I take a deep breath, inhaling the scent one more time, it's only getting stronger by the minute. I look at the guard by the door. He's sweating and holds his breath. I walk over to him.

"Dustin, what's wrong?" He doesn't answer. I shake his shoulder and he growl.

"I'm sorry, Beta. I can't stay in here." He opens the door but I stop him before he goes anywhere, I want to be certain before I link Valens.

"What is your wolf telling you?" His body trembles and I have my answer.

"Run." I tell him and he sprints off into the woods as his wolf takes over. Valeria and Victoria comes over to me with wide eyes.

"What's going on, Jayden?" Valeria asks with wide eyes.

"She's in heat. I need to get Valens here and some mated warriors. Stay in here, do not open this door for anyone." I explain to them. This is not good. I mindlink Valens instantly. 'You need to get here, she's in heat!" I yell down the link. 'I'm coming." He snarls back to me. Poor rogues getting in his way.

I mindlink two mated wolves to guard the palace. 'Galvin, Hector, I need you in the palace, other unmated wolves will cover for you in the field. The Luna is in heat.' I command them. 'Yes Beta.' They respond immediately. I sigh out when Valens appear in front of me.

"Mindlink me if you need anything, I will cover for you." I tell him. He nods before running up the stairs. Valeria stands next to me and look up the stairs. A scream sounds from above, echoing through the palace.

"How is it possible for her to be in heat? They haven't marked each other yet?" Valeria voice out the question we all have. How is that possible?
