Chapter1
Anne was passionate about her career and was ready to establish her own path. She was in her mid-20s. The Anne family owned and ran a successful business that had been in the family for decades. Anne wanted the good of the company and was doing her best to ensure it grew and was successful. On a particular day, Anne's father called her for a serious conversation. He told her about the family business and the challenges it is currently facing. He explained some of the financial difficulties and how the company has been in a serious struggle. Keeping up with competitors is a strong issue the company is facing. The father explained to her that the only way out to ensure the company survived and bounced back to its suit was for Anne to marry the son of the wealthy billionaire Billy. Anne said to him, “Dad, I understand your fear and worries about the current situation the family business is facing, but it won't be that easy for me to just accept to marry someone I have no feelings for and don't even know. She said it in a low and calm voice. I have my own future and dreams to chase; I believe there must be another way to resolve this without intruding on my happiness.” The father paused for a moment and looked at her and said, I have already been in a conversation with Billy's family, and the billionaire is willing to put a considerable amount of money into the family business in exchange for marriage." Anne's father held her hands and said to her, This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that we can afford to miss out on. Anne's father talked more in the deep tense, saying to her, You need to understand the intensity of this situation; this is a golden opportunity you ought not to miss. His voice increased. At this point, it's not just about you; it's about the family legacy and the future. I'm certain that Billy's family wealth and influence could be the passcode we require to save our family business. Anne felt so much better; she understood. She knows how valuable the business is to her dad and family, and she can't stand the thought of seeing the family business go down, but the proposal of marrying Billy for the sake of the company was unacceptable to her. She said, "Please"Dad, let's think this through. We should look out for other options we haven't even thought about or considered yet." She pleaded, hoping to make her father see beneficial reasons to believe her. However, her father was ready to accept her plea. He strongly believed that this marriage plan was the only way the family business could survive, and he was willing to ensure it happened, not even minding Anne's approval and acceptance of it. Feeling disappointed and unhappy, Anne discharged herself from the discussion, moving to her room with tears in her eyes and a heavy heart. She thought of this for days, and with so much heaviness in her heart, he thought deeply about her love for the family business and her choice for her career and aspiration. Day by day, her father continued to pressure her, becoming very aggrieved, annoyed, and angry at her refusal to comply with his demands. The father reminded her of the price he had paid to build this business to this height, and he admonished her that it was her turn to ensure that the family business continued to succeed. Anne acknowledged the significance of the family business but couldn't give it out herself, and the thoughts of this arranged marriage were more about securing the family fortune and legacy than even considering her own self and happiness. Anne seriously wanted to look for a way out to help bring back the family business without having to trade her career for it. After days of restless thoughts and deliberation within herself, Anne decided on a conclusion with confidence. She approached her father and requested a conversation with him. She spoke with a calm voice, explaining to him not to accept this marriage plan no matter what the outcome. I understand the importance of this business, Dad, and am really working hard to contribute my part. But I can't forfeit my own career, dreams, and happiness for it. She said this with so much determination. Dad, we should look at other options and ways. I am determined to work with you for a solution. But marrying Billy won't work; if the family business closes, so be it; my happiness is important to me. The father was full of anger, and his face changed very intensely. The father contends and appeals; Anne maintains her decision; she understands that this is a very challenging moment for the family, but she was not willing to give in to their father's proposal. Anne and her father had a long conversation, which didn't end well. The father was heavy-hearted and couldn't believe Anne's refusal to marry Billy. He knew there was no better option than marrying Billy, the billionaire's son. He became very cold for some time and thought of any other better options he could explore, but he could not think of any. He expressed his dissatisfaction with her refusal to accept his proposal to marry Billy. Anne's father continues to think of what to do and how to convince her to marry Billy; seeing the family business go down day after day makes him feel bitter, and Anne is still standing her ground on her decision not to marry Billy. Anne, on her own, was putting effort into securing new investment from different sources to help the family business, but what the family business needed at this point was a serious investor with huge capital. The process and journey weren't that easy for Anne; her decision to chase her dreams and aspirations was very tough. She had the family business at heart, but her happiness was of optimal importance to her. As days kept passing by, Anne’s dad and family were facing a difficult situation that increased his worries and frustration and fear on the way out of his job. He decides to approach his son, Anne's brother Mark, to help convince her to marry BIlly to save the family business from dying.
