- Pemberley High School of Academics

Jane Austen's Beloved Characters in a modern steamy high school twist.

“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune and brains, must be in want of a trophy girlfriend.

However little known the feelings or views of such a man may be on his first encounter with a poor girl, this truth is well fixed on the working of the mind of such a man”.

May faith play a role in how people meet at the right time, right place, right life.

Intro & Chapter 1
Love to hate you - Pemberley High School of Academics  “It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune and brains, must be in want of a trophy girlfriend.   However little known the feelings or views of such a man may be on his first encounter with a poor girl, this truth is well fixed on the working of the mind of such a man”.  May faith play a role in how people meet at the right time, right place, right life.  Written and loved by Darla Benedict Kisses xxx Chapter 1- I think the beginning of something great will always feel like the end.  Elizabeth, or Lizzie as most people called her was starting a new high school. She originally started year 13 at the local 'Longbourn Heights'. After Mr. Bennet got a new job as a biology teacher at the prestigious Pemberley High School of Academics. Lizzy was forced to move with her father and change high school. Not like she had anything to say. Her father was the adult, she was the child. Lizzie always wanted to be an adult. In many ways she was expected to be an adult by her father. She always had to cook for herself, clean, do her homework and so on. Mr. Bennet always had some test to read or a lecture to prepare. He did not have the time for a child.  Her father told her what a great fortune they had been blessed with. He said, "this is our chance to start over".  After Lizzie's mother and four sisters died in a tragic car accident two years ago. Lizzie's life had never been the same. She missed her beautiful and kind big sister Jane. Jane was the Sun to Lizzie's Moon. Yin to her Yang. The part of her soul would now forever be missing. Her kind Yin Sun was six feet under. Life felt… empty.  Her parents Thomas and Fanny Bennet used to sleep in the ground room, which after the accident Mr. Bennet turned into a library with a bed. Catherine “Kitty '', Mary and Lydia had the big pink room on the second floor. When Lizzie's little sisters lived the room looked like a pink fluff of clothes, teddy bears and glittering stuff. Now it looked like a dusty mess. The house was filled with laughter. All the sisters were chasing each other around. Playing music. Singing. Arguing. Laughing. Now it was just… just quiet.  Lizzy and Jane had the attic room with a big double bed, big “bumped-out” window seat to daydream on, Lizzie had her art and Jane's sewing was all over. Jane loved pastel colors, lace and flowers. She was a magical nymph. Everybody thought that the sisters were wearing designer clothes. Fanny Bennet always said that Jane, her beautiful daughter, had a taste like no other. Lizzie remembered all the pretty dresses Jane forced her into. She regretted all the time kind Jane had to listen to her nagging about the clothes. Why could she not have been more grateful towards Jane? Lizzie had put all of Jane's best work and memories in a big moving box. She also packed a big suitcase with Jane's dresses. Her father had sold the house and they were going to live in Pemberley. Forever. The end! No arguing with Mr. Bennet when his mind was set. Her fathers “fresh start” felt like the end of time.  Moving people were putting all the boxes in a big blue truck. Lizzie hated her 17 year old life. She hated the past two years in general. She had to say goodbye to everything that was left of her memories. To deal with Jane's death was easier when she could still picture Jane in the house, in their room… But her father had sold it all. Sold what was left of Lizzie's soul to God knows who. All she felt was sorrow and emptiness. Life was turning sour.  “Daddy I wish you could understand how much this is breaking me. Mom and my sisters would not be happy that you are moving us to the other side of this country. When will we visit their grave… or light lights in the lake to honor them?'' Thomas Bennet had made up his mind, “Lizzie I am doing this for you. We don't talk much, but you have to.. to.. move on. Not just sit under that tree, walk in the woods, read books in the attic or cry. Yes, I can hear you. This is why we are moving.  I have great opportunities now. You can attend whatever college you want after attending Pemberly.  We need a fresh start and not live an empty life. Make new friends Lizzie.'' How can he say that? To love is great, but when it ends. The ultimate finale ending of death. Love is cruel and breakable. Love will then turn into deep… deep longing.  The last of the boxes was put in my fathers old gray-green Ford. I took one last look at our charming three bedroom house, with the little garden and old white fence. Goodbye memories. Goodbye house. I will feel you forever, my wonderful old life.  The trip to Derbyshire was a blur. Road after road, little towns…. people.. faces… Eight hours later I could see the grand building of Pemberley.  A big sign said:  Welcome to Pemberley High School of Academics.
