Birthday

^^^KATHERINE ^^^ Today is my eighteenth birthday! f**k! You might be wondering why I would have such a reaction for my birthday, well it's because after today I'll leave my parents and never return. At least that's what they told me. Ever since I was a kid, I was hated by the pack members. They hated me because I was stronger, I was bigger and I was faster, what did they expect from the first born of their alpha. But them Hating me isn't the reason for my leaving. I have three bloods that flow in my veins, werewolf, vampire and witch. I'm what they call a tribrid, and for some insane reason the original vampires well apart from my grandfather and the most powerful witches want me dead. So I am practically on the run, though I wouldn't call it on the run because I'm not running, I'm just leaving to protect the ones I love. "Katherine dear!" My mom's soft voice called. "The door in open mum" I said then she walked in. Her eyes were red and swollen, I could tell she had been crying. "You look adorable my love." She said. My younger sister Emily picked the dress for me, it was a blue gown exactly as Cinderella's. She wanted my last birthday with them to be like a fairy tale. "The only thing missing is the prince charming." Think of the devil, she just walked in. "Who says I need a prince charming?" I smiled at her. "Mum you were crying again! Do you know how hard it was for me to do your makeup?!" She scolded mum. She's sixteen and she's 'a girly teenager' type of girl. She likes shopping, she's into Fashion and makeup, anyway enough about her. Mum smiled, "sorry love I can't help it. Your sister is leaving." Mum said "Exactly. She is leaving not dying. Stop crying like you will never see her again, I believe in my sister she is strong enough to kill those motherfuckers before they kill her. Don't worry she'll come back to us." She said. I looked at her with my big sister face, "what did I tell you about using such language." She rolled her eyes, "sorry sis but how else should I call the creatures that want to kill my sister." We all laughed. Then Seline one of the omegas walked in she bowed her head, "Katherine, Emily." she addressed me and my sister. "Luna" she addressed my mom respectfully. "The alpha is waiting for you outside. He's with Max and Martin." She said. Max and Emily have been "friends" for eleven years, they met when she was five and he was six. Even though she claims that they are just friends I know they both like each other, when the time comes I just hope they are mates. Martin is my good for nothing best friend, the only person who was okay with me being stronger and also the only person my age who knew I was a tribrid. He was always there for me, the thought of leaving him is killing me. Who ever the f**k are the big five witches and original vampires, I will find them and I will kill them before they kill me. "There is a prince charming after all." My mom said with a smile. "Mom Martin and I are best friends." I glared at her. She rolled her eyes, "fine" she said in a tone that says I'll believe what I want. Pss mothers. We went out to meet the three handsome men waiting for their princesses. "You look stunning my loves." Dad said as he and mum kissed, it's like their passion never grows old. Mates. I have come to accept the fact that I might never meet my mate or if I do I might be rejected because honestly who would want someone stronger than them as a mate. If I have a mate he should be a god or something. "Thinking about how you're still a virgin at the age of eighteen?" Martin teased. " Shut up dickhead like you're the one who has seen the inside of a woman" I know he was just trying to lighten the mood but I'm leaving, nothing will change that fact. "Come on Kathy I know this is hard for you, it's hard for all of us but let us make the most of this night." He said as he curved his hand and I hooked my hand in it. I smiled "Okay party boy let's get this party started. I looked at Emily and Max, boy they looked adorable, both were blushing and tongue tied. "Um. You. You look lovely." Max stammered. "You don't look bad yourself." Emily blushed. Like damn I can watch this all night but I had a party to be at. The announcer Announced our arrival. Mum and dad sat at the alpha table while my sister and I not forgetting our dates went to enjoy the party. I as the birthday girl had to interact with the pack members who didn't really seem happy to be there but luckily Martin never left my side. He was liked by the pack so he did much of the talking I just had to smile and say, "welcome to the party." "I'm going to talk to my family, try not to beat anyone up." Martin said looking at the direction his parents and sister where. "Yah I'll try." I said nonchalantly. "I'm serious Kathy." He said seriously. "I know dad, I'll be at my best behavior." I said in a kids voice. He left. As I was moving minding my own business "Emily I've been wanting to tell you something." I heard Max' trembling shy voice say. Oh my god this is the moment I've been waiting for, and I could hear Emily's heart racing. I quickly hid to nicely eavesdrop, eavesdropping has been my specialty since I was young. "Say it you know I hate the feeling of being curious." She said, and for a girl whose heart was beating a thousand times in a second she sounded very natural. Max courageously took a step closer to where Emily stood, "I...." He took another step, closing the space between them. I could not hear Emily's breath so I guess she held her breath. Being a tribrid, all my senses are more enhanced, I can feel and hear things miles away than an average alpha. So things like breathing and heart beat are a piece of cake. "I like you." He finally said. " What?" She choked out. "I said I like you" he bravely said. There was silence, no one said a word or even moved. They were both tongue tied and staring at each other. Emily looked at his lips then back to his eyes, he leaned in and kissed her, at first she froze then she kissed back. It then turned heated, I started questioning myself if I imagined their shyness at first. I waited for them to finish their kiss then I cleared my throat making them jump away from each other. "Gees Kathy I'm too young for a heart attack." Emily exclaimed while dramatically touching her chest. I roll my eyes at her, "Which is why you didn't have one." I looked at Max then back at her. "Friends, right I'll keep that in mind the next time you two kiss." I say with a teasing smile gracing my lips. "Well we aint friends anymore." Emily said. "You're not? I'm shocked." I say dramatically causing her to roll her eyes. "Anyway, Max I expect you to take good care of my sister." I told him. I know he doesn't know why I was telling him that but I knew my sister will remain in safe hands. "And please if you guys find out you aren't mates, break up." I told them, they both nodded. Martin walked to us, "There you are, for once I thought you've ditched your own party." He then paused to look at Max and Emily then he smiled with realization. "I can smell a new relationship" he said, I elbowed his abs. "Okay let's leave these two love birds alone" I said as I pulled him. "It's almost time for the ceremony." Martin told me. f**k I almost forgot about that. It's a ceremony every wolf goes through on their eighteenth birthday, I'll have to sniff everyone my age to ten years older to see if they are my mate. My parents have invited many young alphabet for the same ceremony. And if no one is my mate then I'll have shift alone in front of everyone into my lonely wolf. If I find my mate we both shift. Then we go for a run as mates, of which I know is not going to happen. "What's on your mind?" Martin asked pulling me out of my thoughts. "Do I really have to go through the ceremony? I mean we both know that I won't find my mate." I said with my voice a bit sad. He pulled me in for a hug. "Don't worry stupid, I won't let you run alone. Remember on my eighteenth birthday when I didn't find my mate, you never let me to run alone and I'll do the same for you." He said comfortingly. "Gash are you sure you are not my brother.'' I said. He hit my back, "No i***t I'd have to offend the goddess to have you as my sister. You are hell enough as a best friend what more as a sister." We both laughed. My mum then walked towards us. "It is time." She said with a worried face. "Mum you don't have to be worried, no one is going to reject me because no one is my mate." I said to her in the most assuring way I could. "That's what worries me the most. You'll run alone." Okay I love it that mum is worried about me but honestly I'm fine, I don't want a mate anyway. "Mum don't worry. I have Martin by my side, we'll run together. Her down face lifted a bit. "Okay love. Now hurry up and get to the stage." She said then left. "I wonder what mark you'll get." Martin whispered in my ear. Honestly I also wonder, every werewolf aged eighteen and above has a mark on there wrist. The mark is the thing that shows how powerful and strong you are. The mark is the shape of the moon, the weres with a full moon mark are considered ordinary wolf in every park, then there are the weres that have the half moon. The half moon mark is in two categories, the lighter shade and darker shade. The ones with the lighter shade are from the family of the gamma, the ones with the darker shade are from the family of betas. Then there is the crescent moon mark, which is for the alphas. Then lastly there's the strongest mark, a crescent moon with a star shape in the middle. So far no one has it. The wolves that don't get a mark are the weakest in the pack, the omegas. Most packs treat their omegas like trash here in blood moon pack dad makes sure they are treated equally. But most of them still do the jobs of a servant. "Hey, are you okay." Martin said pulling me out of my thoughts. "Yeah, I'm fine. I was just thinking about the mark." I said to him. I reached at the back stage where I changed the dress I wore into a traditional one fit for the ceremony, it was an ankle length pure white dress that was easy to remove. They make sure it's easy to remove because at the end of the ceremony I'll have to shift. "Are you ready for this." Martin said as he walked in, he had also changed into something easy to remove. He wore something casual and damn he looked even cuter in casual than in a tax. "Yeah I'm ready." I took a deep breath then I walked out of the back stage. I stood on the stage and faced the people who never accepted me and never will. With my enhanced hearing I could hear what some were saying, "This ceremony is a waste of time, no one would be unlucky enough to be her mate." I heard one the male wolves say. Then another, "Maybe Martin is her mate. He's the only one who seems okay with that freak." "No the goddess can't be that cruel" the first one said. Ugh they were irritating my ass, do I look like some sad she-wolf who needed some useless mate. Non of them even qualify to be my mate. If I was to be mates it would be to an alpha, a strong one to be precise. The ceremony went well I didn't find my mate, so it was time for the marking, honestly I was nervous I don't know why but I was. The priest got the marking liquid, a light blue liquid that glows. He said some chants I didn't pay attention to then poured all of it on me. I felt like my wrist was burning, goddess I was in pain. After what felt like forever the burning finally stopped and I was completely dry. The next thing I heard were gasps for the people around me. I looked at my wrist, there rested my mark. A crescent moon with a star in the middle. All the elderly people bow there heads including my dad. The young ones looked confused and so was I. "Behold the strongest wolf." The priest said and everyone were on there knees. " it's time." The priest said and I removed my dress then shifted into my beautiful white wolf. Like on cue Martin's deep brown wolf was beside me. "You're ready alpha?" He asked through mind link. "Always beta" I replied then we run. When we reached the woods I teleported us to our favorite cliff. We both shifted back, I used a clothing spell to dress us. We laid on the grass facing the sky. "I'll miss this place." I say as I let out a sigh. "Me too." Martin said. I looked at him surprised, "you're leaving." I asked. He looked at me, "What? you thought I'll let you go and explore the world alone, no sweetheart you're not getting rid of me that easy."
