Chapter 145

Griffin’s Pov... I walked through this enormous house, this f*****g house I hated so much, but couldn’t wait to return to. My family made this house a home. It’s just sad that I wasn’t part of it for 7years. At least there are pictures on the wall of me and Mia and Rosie, so in their minds, I was part of it, or so I hope. “Hey, dad.” I heard Rosie’s greed behind when the door opens. She smiled the most adorable smile, exactly how I pictured her to grow up. “Hey,” I said to Mia, who took Rosie’s bag and went to the kitchen. “Get dressed. I will make you a sandwich,” Mia speaks, and Rosie nods smiling again before she went upstairs. “Can help you?” I asked when she didn’t even look at me. “No, I’m good.” She answered in a low tone. “I can help Mia, you don’t….” “I said I don’t need your help. I’ve managed for 7years on my own.” She interrupts before I could finish my sentence. “Okay, I will be in the study or f*****g somewhere.” I don’t feel like arguing with her, and it’s not helping to push her, or f*****g crying like a baby. I’ve hurt her, and my promise now won’t mean a damn thing to her. I went upstairs to check on Rosie. “Mommy and daddy are fighting, but I know how much mommy missed my dad, so we just have to be patient.” She answered one of her dolls. I smiled, hoping that she was right, and the patience thing, yeah well f**k, I’m not good at that, so let’s see how long that can drag out. “You’re ready for your sandwich?” I called by her door. “Yeah, I actually had a lot of cupcakes at school.” I smiled. “Shhhh, don’t tell mommy.” I placed my finger on my lips and she smiles. Rosie went to the kitchen, and I guess Mia went to the study. I walked over to the study and opened the door where she quickly hides the bottle of booze under the table. “Sorry, I thought it was Rosie.” I kept quiet and hoped that this is not a habit if she tried to hide it from Rosie. I used to drink like that. I guess my fake death drove her to alcohol. “Don’t worry, I don’t do it in front of Rosie, and I kept my promise. I’ve always put her first,” she said, pulling the lid off the bottle and tilting her head backwards to drink out of the bottle. “What? You want me to use a glass?” she asked sarcastically. “I didn’t say anything.” I sit down in front of her On the chair, just staring at the woman I broke in a million pieces and I have f*****g no idea how to put the pieces back together. “You want some?” she asked, showing me the bottle. “I’m good, thanks.” She started laughing when I declined the offer. “Since when do you decline a drink? Or not just a drink, an entire f*****g bottle.” She gulps down on the bottle again. “Come on Griffin, where is the feisty Griffin who gave a f**k about anything in the world? What happened to the man I used to keep taps on and keep his temper in check? Did he finally grow up, or are you just disappointed that you killed me, slowly and over a long period?” she smiled a wicked smile. Everything she says is true, but it hurt like hell hearing her say it. “You want me to be the old Griffin?” I asked. “I know you are. It’s just a matter of time before another bomb drops on us,” she admits, like she expects just drama when I’m around. “Hey, Dawn said in the doorway.” She glared at Mia with the bottle in her hand. She doesn’t lecture her the way she used to do with me. Of course, she wouldn’t. Mia has always been the angel. “I’m taking Rosie for the night. We’ll have pizza and play board games,” she instructed Mia, and Mia nodded. “Okay, see you tomorrow?” she glared at me and looked over to Mia with sympathy. I heard the door close and grab the glass and overthink it to have a glass of whiskey. ” What, you're scared my demons are bigger than yours?” Mia mocks when I stare at the bottle. Fuck this, I know I’ve hurt her, but all this I did for them, so I’m done being the f*****g punching bag. If she wants my demons out, then let’s see who walks through the fire without burning. I grab an extra bottle from the cabinet. f**k the glass. I pull the lid off and show cheers to her and gulp down the burning whiskey. “I knew you would give in.” she smiles and took another drink. “What does that mean?” I asked curiously. “It means that in 7years of hell, you walked out it without a f*****g scratch. We’re I’m still bleeding and my wounds don’t heal. That’s what it means.” I down the bottle out of anger. “Don’t you think this 7years was hell for me? f**k Mia, I told you a million times I had to do it for you. I had to disappear to keep you and Rosie safe. Believe me, don’t f*****g believe me. I’m done defending myself.” She stands up and swings her fist to hit me, but I grabbed it before it could hit my face. My face is inches away from hers. Maybe I should’ve let her just hit me. “I know you're hurt, so am I, but you don’t get to punch me to feel better.” she smiled again, this time because she’s getting drunk. “Let me take you upstairs. You can have a bath and try to relax.” I try to take the bottle from her but she took another sip before she smashed it against the table. “Aw, look at you, being so thoughtful.” she’s seriously testing my patience. “If you want me to go to bed, then you’ll have to carry me.” she smiled, her eyes black underneath with the little mascara she had on. I picked her up, and she folded her legs around my waist. “I’ve missed how you carried me to bed,” she said with her eyes close. I know she’s drunk, but my heart melts at just hearing that she missed this. “Kiss me,” she said when I placed her on the bed. “Mia?” I said with a long sigh. She will hate herself tomorrow. “I remember the day we met. You hit me like a train wreck. I hated you, but secretly loved you.” She smiles. I sit down next to her, placing a blanket over her when she removed her close. I would f*****g love to my make love to her now. “You know I played with myself, imagining you touching me?” I can’t answer her. I just kept quiet, my mind racing, thinking about how she played with herself. Why the f**k is she doing this to me? “Yeah, I would take a bottle of wine drink it out, and lay in the bath and imagine myself sitting on top of you.” her eyes are still closed, she’s busy drifting away to sleep, which is a good thing because I’m about to pull her panties to the side to make her feel exactly how she imagined it. The room became silent and the only noise you can hear was the wind blowing outside. Mia is finally sleeping. I stood up and close her entire body before I walked to the door to switch off the light. “I love you,” She just mumbled and I froze for a second. I know tomorrow she would be back at hating me.
