Chapter 1: Fall Down
Sia’s POV
“f**k Damon! You’re cheating on me!” I shouted at the top of my lungs.
Damon Stevens, my first boyfriend, and I have been dating for almost six years now. However, in some twisted play of fate, everything changed after I caught him kissing another woman at my best friend’s birthday party.
Celine, my best friend, told me it had been happening for a while now with the same girl, so it was more disheartening than catching them.
“S-Sia? Why are you here? I thought you were attending a conference meeting with your boss?” He panicked.
Damon dragged me outside the venue and went straight to his car. He then opened the door, pushed me inside, went to the driver’s seat, and started to drive fast home.
Damon had continued to received financial support from his parents by giving him allowances because I was only working as a real estate agent for six years.
“How could you?!” I yelled at him.
“For f**k’s sake Sia, can you please shut up!” He yelled back.
“You said you’re not going to do that! You know my situation, Damon! You know my story! Yet you did this to me? Shame on you!” I continued yelling at him while he was driving.
“Wait for us to get back home! I’ll explain everything, just calm down... baby... please,” He begged at me.
I continued crying in the car without looking at him.
My parents passed away in an accident with a car when I was a little kid, and Damon and I currently live in my apartment. I met him when I needed to survive life alone. Damon taught me that life was more than just figuring out how to get by on one meal a day. He made me feel loved and valued, and I was so at ease with him. However, after five years of dating, everything changed.
He grew aloof from me, never welcomed me when I arrived home from work, and always slept when I was around. We almost ever exchange words, and the fact that he never asked how my day was or even offered to cook for me now makes me sad because that was what made me fall in love with him.
We arrived at my apartment; I did not bother to wait for him and just got out of the car. I slammed the door before he could get in.
“She kissed me first, Sia!” Damon shouted after he got inside.
“I don’t believe you,” I replied, while tears streaming down my face.
“If you don’t believe me, then let’s break up,” he said firmly.
I slapped him and my face went completely dark from shock as I watched Damon’s eyes alter. He was going to hurt me, but he received a call from an unknown number, looked through his phone intently, and I assumed he recognized the caller.
He exited the room to answer the phone and left me here just standing. I walked to the sofa and sobbed more.
“How could he do this to me?” I asked myself, that’s the only question that keeps lingering in my mind right now.
The next morning, it was already 7:00 am when I checked my phone. Damon never returned home, and I had no idea where he was.
I was still upset with him. Did he actually end our relationship last night? I don’t believe that he was serious about it, but at least I wouldn’t be cheated on anymore, which made me happy and sad. I missed him.
I didn’t even realize that I had fallen asleep on the sofa. I gathered all my strength and got up, I went to the bathroom and glanced in the mirror and I looked like a complete mess right now, my makeup was all ruined, f**k. I called my boss and apologized for having said I couldn’t come to work today because I was not feeling well.
My phone rang and ‘Celine’ was the name that appeared on the screen.
“Hello,” I greeted her in a melancholy voice.
“What happened?” Celine asked.
“We broke up, I guess,” I said, then started laughing.
“Haha funny,” she mocked with an irritated voice.
She was the one who first pointed out to me that Damon was a cheater, but because of my love for Damon, I refused to believe her.
I didn’t respond to her; instead, I just started crying once more.
“I’ll come over. Don’t do anything silly, Sy. Wait for me, okay?” She said, then ended the call.
After a few hours, I kept hearing the doorbell ring. My dearest friend was here. She met me with a hug shortly after I opened the door. I started crying harder. I merely turned to Celine in situations like this.
“You see, I know he is no good for you,” Celine exclaimed.
“But he’s not acting like those years before,” I said. Even after what Damon did to me, I was still trying to see the good in him.
“Sia, you deserve better honestly, can’t you see he is just using you,” Celine tried to sway my opinion.
“Let’s avoid discussing him for the time being,” I murmured as I wiped away my tears.
“Okay, I’ll give you that but please promise me that this will be the last time that you’re going to cry over that stupid asshole!” she uttered.
“You’re such a brat” I said, then smiled at her.
“I am hahaha, but promise me?” She asked again, then lifted her pinky for a pinky promise.
“Promise,” I responded, then locked our pinkies.
“That’s my girl! Anyway, c’mon let’s go shopping!” Celine exclaimed excitedly.
“I kind of want to,” I said, then we both jumped off the sofa.
After we finished preparing, we already drove to the nearest mall in the area.
“What happened here?” Celine locked her eyes off the road.
“Hmm?” I murmured and put down my phone to look at where Celine was looking.
There’s a huge accident happened. A truck and a Lamborghini car crashed into a*****e. I saw so many men in suits and one of them was yelling. The rescuer was trying to get the person out of the car.
There were a lot of people, and it also caused traffic so we couldn’t drive past the commossion.
“Poor girl,” Celine commented.
“I wonder who’s at fault,” I said.
“Would you like to go out and check? C’mon!” Celine blurted out.
“What?! Are you insane?!” I refused.
“C’mon, we're just going to look really quick” Celine said, then opened the car door. I haven’t have any choice but to follow Celine.
At the scene, I saw the man cry his heart out while the rescuers were carrying the body of a girl. It must be his girlfriend. I met this man’s eyes and it was dark and scary.
“Clean this up, I don’t want this incident to be out in public,” The man who earlier was crying has now become a cold-hearted boss. He got into his car and drove so fast.
“Sia, she looks like you,” Celine gasped, then pointed the girl. I was not able to look at the girl because a lot of men in suits covered the area and forced us to leave. I felt kind of strange with that man’s aura.
