A Midnight Game and an Unchained Encounter
On a city street shrouded in silence and a dark, gothic aesthetic, a shiny, metallic-black Rolls-Royce Phantom tore through the night. The vehicle's appearance was as royal and expensive as its speed was lethal. Resting on the steering wheel were the slender, elegant fingers of a young woman. Her dark gothic aura, sharp jawline, and enigmatic presence instantly marked her as someone far removed from an ordinary civilian. This was Ahana—a name whispered with equal measures of dread and reverence throughout the underworld.
Ahana glanced up at the rearview mirror. A sudden glint flickered in her deep, obsidian eyes. A dark, license-plate-less SUV was tailing her with persistent aggression. A sharp, sarcastic smirk touched her lips.
"You're picking a fight with the wrong person..." she muttered softly under her breath, her heavy accent dripping with disdain.
Without a moment’s hesitation, she slammed her foot down on the accelerator. The roaring engine echoed through the deserted expanse as the Phantom doubled its speed in a heartbeat. Behind her, the trailing SUV matched her pace, aiming to corner her. What they failed to realize was that they were not hunting prey—they were pursuing a predator.
Ahead lay a sharp, narrow blind curve. Ahana executed a masterclass in driving precision, whipping the steering wheel so smoothly that the car vanished behind an abandoned warehouse with a screech of burning rubber. The driver of the SUV slammed on the brakes in confusion. The occupants spilled out, frantically searching the surroundings to figure out where the black Phantom had disappeared into thin air.
They believed they had outmaneuvered her, but a split second later, metal tore into metal.
Ahana surged from behind the warehouse at maximum speed, T-boning the front side of the SUV! The deafening crunch of crushing steel ripped through the air. The impact was violent enough to spin the SUV directly into the road divider, deploying its airbags instantly.
Ahana brought her car to a smooth halt. Waiting for a moment as her racing heart settled, she opened the door and stepped out into the night. The sharp click of her high heels echoed off the asphalt. Clad in a tailored black blazer, the defiant intensity in her eyes served as a lethal warning to anyone who dared cross her.
She walked up to the wreckage and peered inside. The men were unconscious and bleeding, though still breathing. Reaching into her blazer, Ahana drew a customized, engraved handgun. The cold weight of the metal felt natural in her grip.
"Underestimating women... was your fatal mistake," she said coldly.
BANG! BANG!
Two gunshots echoed through the night without a trace of remorse. Her work finished, Ahana holstered her weapon, returned to the Phantom, and drove off without a second thought.
As she drove, her phone vibrated on the dashboard, the screen flashing: Brother.
Connecting her Bluetooth earpiece, she answered the call.
"Ahana! What is this?" a heavy, anxious voice demanded from the other end. It was Yuvansh, her elder brother. "I told you not to handle these things alone! What if something had happened to you?"
Ahana tightened her grip on the steering wheel, letting out a soft sigh. "Yuvansh bhai, you don't need to worry at all. Don't underestimate your sister. I am not so weak that I can't handle these vermin on my own."
"I know how strong you are, Ahana," Yuvansh replied, his tone softening slightly, though the strain of concern remained. "Still, you can't keep throwing yourself into danger alone. Where are you right now? Tell me."
"I'm on my way back home," Ahana replied.
"Alright, get back quickly. We'll have dinner together," Yuvansh said.
"Okay, bhai," Ahana said, disconnecting the call. If there was one place in the world where her guard dropped, it was with her brother.
A few minutes further down the road, she pulled up to a red light at a major traffic junction. Resting her arm on the frame, she casually glanced out the window.
Suddenly, her eyes locked onto a man standing near an open-air café on the sidewalk. In an instant, every trace of composure drained from her face, replaced by raw anger and hatred. It was the traitor who had betrayed their syndicate and vanished without a trace three months ago.
"So you're here... and we've been hunting for you everywhere," Ahana growled under her breath.
She immediately pulled the Phantom over to the curb, killed the ignition, and stepped out. She began tracking him through the shadows without making a sound. However, men of the underworld possess a heightened survival instinct; sensing eyes on him, the traitor glanced back. The moment he caught sight of Ahana striding toward him, terror seized him.
He turned and bolted.
Ahana broke into a sprint. Under the amber glow of the streetlights, a high-stakes chase unfolded across the night. The man sprinted desperately while Ahana pursued him with absolute focus. She was closing the gap when the man shoved a heavy wooden crate and some stray shop items backward to obstruct her path.
Ahana reacted quickly to avoid the bulk of it, but a sharp metal edge on the crate slashed her arm. The sleeve of her black blazer tore, leaving a deep cut that immediately began to bleed.
The pain didn't register; her mind was fixed entirely on her mark. Ignoring the sting, she surged forward once more.
Then, as she rounded a sharp corner, she collided head-on with a passerby!
The sudden impact shattered her balance, sending her crashing onto the pavement.
"Oh s**t! I'm so sorry... I was in such a rush, please forgive me!" The young man knelt down beside her immediately, his voice filled with frantic concern. He wore a crisp white doctor's coat, wire-rimmed glasses, and carried an air of unmistakable innocence—this was Ekansh.
Already fuming from the chase, the collision sent Ahana's temper over the edge. She pushed herself up from the ground and snapped, "Are you blind?!"
She whirled around to scan the street, but the traitor had already dissolved into the crowd. The alley lay completely empty.
Ahana clenched her fists in sheer frustration. "Because of you, my target got away!" She threw a scathing look at Ekansh and turned to walk off.
Before she could take a step, Ekansh reached out and caught her hand.
Ahana froze. In her world, touching her without permission was equivalent to a death sentence. Her lethal gaze dropped down to his hand, then tracked slowly up to meet his eyes.
"How dare you lay a hand on me?" Ahana's voice dropped to a register cold enough to freeze blood.
Yet Ekansh remained entirely unbothered. His voice was soft, gentle, and utterly calm. "Your arm is injured... it's bleeding heavily. You need a bandage."
Ahana snatched her hand back with a sharp jerk. "It's a scratch. It'll heal. You don't need to concern yourself—I can take care of myself."
She turned to leave again, but Ekansh stepped directly into her path, blocking her way.
"I am a doctor," Ekansh stated with absolute gravity and authority. "It is my responsibility to treat anyone who is injured. I cannot let you walk away with an open wound. You have to listen to me."
Ahana reached the absolute limit of her patience with his stubborn persistence. Every instinct urged her to draw her weapon and end this naive doctor right where he stood. But logic intervened: the traitor was long gone, and the cut on her arm was deep enough that blood was running down her wrist.
Faced with Ekansh's quiet determination, Ahana released a long, irritated breath.
"Fine," she snapped, shaking her head in annoyance.
Ekansh led her to a nearby 24/7 departmental store just down the street. Tucked into a quiet corner of the shop was a small table set with two chairs.
"Sit here for a moment, I'll be right back," Ekansh said softly before heading toward the pharmacy counter.
Ahana sat down, her face flushed with lingering irritation. Precision was the core of her identity; she loathed failure and tolerated incompetence even less. Though this setback had been caused by an oblivious doctor, her frustration was directed equally at the situation itself. Her fingernails tapped an impatient rhythm on the table, her eyes glinting with annoyance.
Within minutes, Ekansh returned carrying antiseptic liquid, cotton pads, ointment, bandages, and a basic medical kit.
He pulled up the chair opposite her, arranged his supplies neatly on the table, and extended his hand with quiet respect and care.
"Give me your hand, please," Ekansh requested with a gentle smile.
Without a word or an expression, Ahana extended her wounded arm, her razor-sharp eyes tracking his every move. She had no way of knowing how drastically this mild-mannered doctor was about to reshape her dark world.
