An unwanted mate

HAZELS POV "Hazel darling time to come down stairs breakfast is ready!" "yes mum I'm coming give me 5 mins" I cant believe I'm 18 today! I'm so excited today i will shift and meet my wolf for the first time. us werewolves shift for the first time when they become of age at 18 but we have always had our extra senses and strength since we were born that's one thing that makes us different from normal humans before we actually have the ability to shift. when we turn 18 its not only shifting we are able to do we can also find our mate! that's something I have been dreaming for since I was little. my mum is throwing me and my twin brother Harley a huge birthday party tonight. hopefully I will meet my mate at the party. My brother is my one of my best friends I love him so much he is tall around 6ft 6 with brown curly hair and baby blue eyes. all the she wolves and normal human girls try to throw them selves at him but he is waiting for his mate, he is really hoping our other best friend Hannah is his mate he's been crushing on her since he first saw her. I really hope they are mates Hannah is so beautiful they would make an amazing pair she is slim girl about 5ft 8 with long blonde curly hair and baby blue eyes. We met her at nursery at the age of 3  and have been best friends ever since. She turned 18 a week ago and hasn't found her mate yet. after i got out of bed and took a quick shower i needed to pick what I was going to wear for collage i decided on a pair of black high waisted jeans and a baby blue crop top with a cute white wolf howling on it and a pair of white converses. i added a little bit of mascara and lip gloss and shaded in my eyebrows a bit before looking in the mirror impressed with what i saw. I'm a very unique looking girl well that's what my mum always says I'm about 5ft 4 with long brown curly hair I'm a bit on the curvy side but I'm not fat i have a flat tummy i just have large hips and chest but my most unique part is my eyes i have different colour eyes one eye is as green as spring grass and the other is as blue as the clearest ocean. when i go to collage because of humans i have to put in coloured contacts so people just think i have blue eyes. When i get down stairs i can smell the bacon before i see it my mum normally makes bacon and egg sandwiches before collage but today she's gone extra and made a full English as its our birthday. "hey mum looks lovely I'm starving!" "good morning darling come here sit down ill make you a cup of tea" "thank you mum where is Harley is he still not down yet?" Just as i said that Harley strolls in all fresh faced hair still a little wet from the shower showing off his pearly white teeth "happy birthday hazel" he says in my ear whilst he gives me a hug. "happy birthday too you to Harley" whilst breakfast we are all having a laugh and joke before i realise we got 30 mins before first class starts. i quickly down my cup of tea and tell Harley to hurry up as he drives me. just as we are about to leave mum gives us a big squeeze before she starts crying again. "i just cant believe my babies are all growing up and 18 all ready soon you will find your mates and leave the nest" "We are not birds mum we are wolves" Harley laughs at her before she smacks him up the back of the head and says" Fine leaving your mothers den then" with one of her eye brows raised "that's better" as we are about to get into Harleys car mum shouts" remember to come straight home you need to be ready by 6! the Luna has invited four other packs including the Red moon pack so everything has to go perfect! have a lovely day love you both bye" " bye mum love you" we both shout at the same time. by the time we get to collage Hannah is already waiting at the front door for us." COMMON GUYS WE ARE LATE!" she shouts before dragging the both of us to our first class. the day went really fast and was quite a good day because it was a Friday the teachers are so much nicer.as the day came to an end we all met up at the front before getting back in Harleys car. " right Harley before we go anywhere we have to stop at my house so i can pick up all my stuff hope you have room in your boot!"  "of course princess" Harley says with a cheeky wink before Hannah turned bright red. as we waited for Hannah to collect her stuff Harley made sure the boot was clear but when we saw Hannah coming out her house literally looking like buckaroo with so many bags we literally burst out laughing. " IF YOU COULD STOP LAUGHING AND HELP ME!!" she shouted "sorry princess you just look so funny we knew you would have so much stuff thats why i cleared my boot yesterday"   "well its all important if we want to look beautiful for our mates "she said before she sat down in the backseat.as Harley got back behind the wheel i heard him say under his breath that he hopes its him. as we got home we rushed up stairs too get ready. Harleys gone to get ready with his friends whilst me and Hannah rush for both of to get showered. We both made sure we shaved every inch of our bodies just in case we meet our mates Because when u meet your mate you have an overwhelming feeling to claim and mate each other right there, of course you do also have a choice to reject each other but that is very rare as its such a strong bond that the moon goddess gifted us. we was almost ready I'm waring a beautiful baby blue Holter neck dress that goes to my ankles with a slit up the leg that hugs my every curve with my curly long hair flowing down my back with just the front of my hair pinned back to keep it out of my face. Hannah is wearing the same dress but in a dust pink with baby blue lace up stilettos whilst i wear a pair of dusty pink ones. We always do this we mix and match so we are matching but not the same.  " I really hope my mate is from our pack if I meet him tonight I heard the Luna has invited 4 other packs including the Red moon pack I really hope I'm not mated in to that pack they are so ruthless and scary" i could hear she was a bit panicked i don't blame her that pack is scary run by alpha Jacob grey he is only 20 and already is known as the most dangerous alpha in the world. also he treats the omegas in his pack like slaves.in our pack every one is treated like equals which is nice seeing as we are an omega family  its such an old fashion thing to treat omegas like that we can be strong and be warriors but people back then thought we was weak as its in our nature to be caring and loving and do house work and chores. "i know babes i feel the same but if i am mated in to the red moon pack then ill embrace it i can cook and clean as long as i can be with my mate " i answered her in calm voice she smiled at me "and don't you think its weird the Luna using yours and Harleys birthday to get all the packs together i bet its so they can see if they can find Mia's mate"  " her poor mate doesn't know what's coming ha-ha" we both laugh before heading downstairs to head to the pack house. Mia is the Luna and alphas only daughter she is one of them queen bee mean girls sorts i don't know where she gets it from as her parents are the fairest and kindest people. Mia on the other hand has slept with most boys from our collage and if you rank lower than a beta or gamma your nothing but useless to be honest her and Jacob would be perfect for each other haha. As we get near to the Packhouse which was only a 5 minute walk we see Harley and mum waiting outside. "hi sweetie we will go in mingle for a bit and in about 30 mins we are going to do the shifting so meet me here then and we will go do the shift by the lake as 7pm is when the moon starts to reflect on the lake do you understand" "yes mum " both me and Harley say at the same time" good well i already put your whites there also the Red moon pack will be here at 8 so we should be done Intime for there arrival" "okay mum thank you so much i love you" i gave her big hug before going in to the party. the pack house was filled the was some music not to loud though as its a formal event apparently. after about 20 minutes of me and Hannah mingling we met up with Harley" good luck you two I'm so happy for you guys and you have to tell me every detail and maybe later tonight we can go for a run" Hannah said with a wink " of course we will thank you so much we will see you in about an hour okay don't find your mate with out me" i say with my own wink but Harley let out a growl next to me which we both giggled at. like we agreed we met mum at the front of the house and started walking to the lake which is about a 10 minute walk. i bet your think why cant you do it in front of every one and why do you have to go to the lake when the water reflects the moon, good questions first we don't do it front of everyone one because it is painful and slow and it can be nerve racking so only alpha have there first s**t in front of the whole pack we also wear what we call whites so women wear like a white linen shirt and men wear white linen trousers so when we shift we don't rip our personal clothes and its just become a bit of a tradition also we go to the lake because if your birthday doesn't fall on a full moon the moons powers are not as strong so  it can cause the shift to take longer so the reflection helps its double the power as the water can soak in the moons power and reflect it. as we arrive at the lake we hug each other and mum wishes us both luck before she leaves as she said she will find it hard to watch her babies in pain. me and Harley  go too different trees to change in to our whites i fold my dress neatly so it doesn't wrinkle I'm just glad my hair wont get damaged in the shift apprently.as me and Harley step out and walk to the side of the lake i can feel my nerves creeping up to me. I know Harley can feel my nerves as he squeezed my hand and gave me a toothy grin and we stood waiting for the moon to fit the right spot on the lake. just as hits i could feel the power hit me and i let out a scream as i can feel my body starts to stretch slowly and bones breaking after about ten minutes of agonising pain it starts to slowly get easier then all of a sudden i hear a voice in my head "hello Hazel im star your wolf your other half i know right now your in pain but im here to help you through it now i just want you to picture me and feel the moon it will come to you easier you are special little one you can do this "  and with that i felt no more pain all of a sudden i heard a thud and i snapped my eyes open to see my brother in his wolf form with grey fur all over his back going in to white socks on his paws that's when i looked down at my self and saw i had fur as white as snow as i walked forward to see my self in the lake i saw my eyes glowing still one as green as spring grass the other as blue as the ocean. "star are you there i know you must be tired from your first shift and communicating with me thank you so much for helping me but i will need guidance to turn back i know we cant stay in our wolf form for long because its our first shift " "of course little one thank you for thinking of me we have just enough energy to turn back i will need a day to get my energy back but from then on you can shift when you like now lets start sit down and close your eyes picture your human form look at you fingers your nails look at your little nose your arms and legs look at how straight your back is now concentrate on your human mind and you will shift back it will not be as painful but you will feel so pain just don't concentrate on that " i start to feel my body to reline and feel my fur melt in to my skin and star was right it was not as painful of course i felt some pain my body was realigning but it was peaceful and relaxed as i sat there naked my brother passed me my dress he already had his trousers on." thank you your wolf was so beautiful and strong i cant wait to run with you when they have there energy back" " what do you mean Hazel your the beautiful one i don't think i have ever seen such an amazing looking wolf and your eyes were magical i think we should keep that between us until we find out why they glow that's not a normal thing" he said look at me so seriously " i think your right thank you now lets get back to the party " we walked hand in hand grinning to our self's back to the party when all of a sudden we hear a very loud growl that shook the tree and all i heard in my head was     "MATE!!"
