A little secret

943 Words
My sister and I used the walk back to the packhouse for small talk. After that, she told me about her life here at the Daisy moon pack. Apparently, she found Sam the minute she stepped within the territory borders. Back then, she looked pretty much the same as I did the moment I "arrived". Her clothes were almost ripped to shreds and her whole body was covered in cuts and bruises. When I asked her to tell me more about her escape from the elders, she stiffened and refused. Which is understandable. However, she did tell me that Sam had taken good care of her from the moment they met. He made sure she had clean clothes and a shower. It took her a while to trust him, given her past. Yet Sam did nothing to break it. He kept her secret until this very day on and he helped her get back on her feet. It was then, he first introduced her to the rest of the pack. As a reward, she let him mark her. As she told me this, she proudly showed the two puncture holes at her marking spot just above her collarbone. The holes were created by Sam's canines as a sign that she is taken for. I turned around to see the guys just out of hearing distance. Emily did the same before dropping an unexpected bomb. " I really love him sis. I would actually die for him. I haven't told anyone yet but I think I might be carrying a pup. His pup". Her face beamed with pride and hope. I kept on walking knowing she did not want the guys to find out yet. It took me a while to process the turn of the conversation. Pregnant? How is that even possible? I mean, I learned about the birds and the bees but why would she allow herself to get pregnant? There is no way this pack can protect her and her unborn child? Especially against the elders? This can't be the world she wanted her pup to grow up in right? I felt a warm hand on my shoulder which shook me out of my thinking. "Please say something sis?" I realized then that I had been silent this whole time. I sighed before thinking of a way to formulate my thoughts. " I am sorry Em, but I just don't know how to react to that. I want to be happy for you but what about the elders? The pack of our parents wasn't strong enough to stop an attack of the elders. What makes you think this one is safe enough for your pup?" This made her slow down in her tracks for a second before catching up with me again. " I don't know for sure. I still need a test to confirm it. I just... I just want to be happy Elenora. I want to forget all of it and start a life of my own. Together with Sam and his pack. Even if it’s just for a little while." I understood her way of thinking and I knew I had to respect her choices. Even though I do not agree with them. I noticed the guys getting closer so I placed an arm over her shoulder. I kissed the side of her head before letting go of her. Sam was eager to take my place next to Emily. This made me smile until Jesse grabbed my hand. He pulled me back to slow down pace while Emily and Sam continued walking in front of us. Jesse wasted not a single second before asking me the question I was dreading to hear. " Those rogues smelled… familiar. Also, you waited with the counter-attack even though you had the element of surprise. Why? Did you knew them? Were they working for the elders?" While asking these questions, he pulled me to a stop. I answered with a single nod. We were on the same side now which meant that honesty would be the best card to play. "They were mine. My team." His face showed traces of confusion. " And yet you were able to kill them that easily? No doubts?" I shook my shoulders while placing my hands in the pockets of my pants. " The elders were forcing me to murder innocent people for years." He gave me a concerned nod and stayed quiet for the rest of the walk. I enjoyed the silence. It gave me a feeling close to relaxation yet I was always on edge. We arrived at the packhouse where we walked straight to Jesses office. He took a seat in his leather chair and let out a big sigh. His gaze was shifting from Emily to me and back. " If I understand correctly, this attack was the elders doing?" Emily stared at the floor. I was wondering if it was because of the shame of her past. Maybe she knew more than she led them to know. I took her hand in mine while giving it a tiny squeeze. Her gaze shifted to me as she gave me a sad smile. She looked so young and shy. It really felt like I had my little sister back, which is why I took the lead in the conversation. " I don't know if the elders had anything to do with the attack but it sure as hell was a sign. The real war is going to start soon and we need to be prepared for anything. Something tells me something big is coming. And it will be here soon.
