The killing machines

I froze on the spot. Did she just say, mate? Did she find her mate? I don't know if I'm supposed to be happy she found her one true love or sneer at her because she let herself be vulnerable in front of another person. She should have learned by now not to trust anyone? Not even her mate? And yet here she was, snuggling to his side, staring at him like he is the most precious thing in the world. He on the other hand softened his posture while leaning into her touch. “Well, well," he said with a while smirking. "Elenora is it? It appears you finally have a name, rogue," He chuckled while saying this. I growled and was about to take another step forward but froze once again as I saw my sister's begging eyes. I pushed the upcoming anger aside before responding. “It doesn’t matter what my real name is. Don’t get used to it, I will be leaving soon anyway.” This confession brought my sister back into reality. “wait, you are leaving me again? I just got you back! you know what? I will join you sister. I will not allow you to be alone again." It took a couple of seconds before either of us was able to react. Sam was the first to break the silence. “Wait, sister? I thought you said you were the only one of your family that survived?” I ignored him before answering her directly. “The war with the elders is not over yet. I cannot allow them to hurt or kill any more innocent people. I will end this war by hunting them one by one. I will not allow you to give up your happiness with your mate for me. Not anymore”. I turned around to leave when I bumped into a chest. The smell of cherries and cinnamon filled the sky and I scolded myself for missing the earlier signs of his presence. He pulled me into a hug which practically gave me a panic attack. It had been a while since I had any form of physical contact and the feeling of it was overwhelming. I pushed him back while twisting his arm behind his back. “Don’t ever touch me again, understood?” My wolf tried to fight for control. She wanted to be with him while I was the one thinking about the consequences. Creating a bond between us would only complicate things. A gunshot in the distance made me soften my hold on him. A glance at my sister was enough for the both of us to run towards the sound. It was like a flick of a switch. The guys were running close behind us. My sister and I both made a sprint to the closed tree. I climbed up until we were both crouched down on a giant branch. I gave her a signal to stay put before jumping onto another branch on the right. It would’ve been nice to have some kind of weapon right now, I thought to myself as I caught a whiff of blood. I jumped towards the next tree while my sister did the same thing on her side until we came close to a small clearing. The scene in front of me surprised me. There were three warriors, two in wolf form and one in human form. It was obvious that the warriors were losing the battle with some rogues. I observed the scene some more until I was certain that these rogues were the ones that I used to train. They increased speed and power yet they had the same flaws. I jumped down, right in front of the human warrior. The rogues paused for a couple of seconds before continuing their attacks yet this time aimed at me. My sister jumped down her tree as well while the warriors stumbled backward into the forest. My sister stood next to me, ready to back me up when necessary. My first thought was to reason with the rogues. I had hoped they would respect me enough to listen to me but it was in vain. The moment I tried to speak, one of them shifted to wolf form mid-air while landing close to my feet. I grabbed his maul and used his speed to throw him into the rocks behind me. It landed on its paws before continuing its attack yet this time the other rogues joined the fight. I signed my sister to finish the wolf while dodging the first fist, aimed at my face. I tried to fight back without actually wounding anyone. This thought of mind changed when some rogues turned to Emily to kill her as well. I knew their way of fighting. They were fighting to kill, not to capture. Rage clouded my vision. There was no way I was gonna lose my sister all over again. I grabbed the rogues arm before pulling her toward me. I span sideways while stealing her knife from her belt before using it to stab the next rogue in front of me. Sadness washed over me as I realized him to be the little kid named sam. There was no time to grieve because another knife missed me by just an inch. Unfortunately, I was unable to retrieve the knife from Sam's head before the next attack. Another rogue turned into its wolf and found the opportunity to bite down on my arm, dragging me down and making me scream in pain. My sister reacted by jumping onto its back and slicing it open with a sharp-looking rock. The wolf howled in pain while shaking her off. I took my chance by jumping over it while taking a hold of its head. The speed of the fall and my weight caused its neck to snap. I used the speed to roll back onto my knees. Two rogues left. The others were either dead, killed by my sister and me, or had escaped. I tried catching my breath while standing back onto my feet. "You have once more chance to surrender. Because we will kill you. You know it, you saw it". The rogues, a boy, and a girl seemed to consider the option, yet they decided against it. They ran towards us as we ran towards them. I jumped up just as the girl's knife reached my belly. I placed my hands onto her shoulders while swinging my legs up in the air. I used my body again as a lever, throwing the girl onto a tree. Her head fell onto her shoulder. The blast must have made her unconscious. My sister used another strategy. She slid underneath her opponent while using two knives to cut both of his hamstrings. He screamed in pain before turning around suddenly, walking straight with his throat into the weapon. I directed my gaze back to the tree but the girl was nowhere in sight. I followed the sound of hands clapping. Our mates were at the edge of the clearing. An amused look plastered onto their faces. It annoyed the crap out of me. I smirked while coming up with a plan. I reached to pick a knife from the ground. I studied it before throwing it at the tree close to my handsome but stupid mate's head. His eyes flickered from amusement to fear, making me chuckle. I walked over to my sister before giving her a long hug. I really missed having her by my side. I released her and grabbed her hand, leading her away from the clearing. Away from our stupid men. Well, her stupid man and my stupid mate. I don't think that I would ever be able to call him mine. Not as long as the danger is still lurking around in the shadows.
