Destined with you

Sitting at the New York airport waiting for her flight to California,Ara was reminiscing how her life had played out until that moment. Ara was just a little girl when her family decided to move down to Nigeria after the death of her grandfather, after her father heard the news he decided that their whole family would be going down to Nigeria for the burial of his late father. On getting to Nigeria the whole family had to get used to the Nigeria weather as they prepared for the burial, her mother being an American found it difficult to cope and only wished everything should be over so they could return to the states but things didn't go as planned because after the successful burial of her grandfather her father decided to settle down in Nigeria with his family but their mother wasn't able to come to terms with the whole idea, she was always complaining as she wasn't used to such living conditions; after her mother's series of complaints she finally fled as she disappeared leaving her and her sister alone with their father,Her father was really devastated as he had loved her so much and tried to do everything he could to make her stay but all was for naught as she still ran away leaving him without a word and this was what broke him more,he channeled all his anger into working and trying to his best to make his daughters happy and he succeeded as everything was going well for them. Their father remarried a loving lady who was just like an Angel to Ara and her sister Temi,Lilian treated them with love and all the care in the world, she cared for them like she would her own children and even after having her own child she still treated them with love, and she and Temi was excited to have a baby brother and they were all happy. Their happiness lasted a while but not for long; just as Ara gained admission into the university did everything started going south as her father who had taught them how to be proud of their root, to know their worth and always to stand proud and confident among their peers was diagnosed with cancer and this was how things started going downhill for them as they spent almost everything they had to fight her father's cancer but to no avail, they all watched how life slipped away from their father, how he became a shell of himself, how he still acted strong despite all the series of test, injections and drip and they all watched him took his last breath and this shattered them as they were all in pain, they mourned his death for so long and Ara almost didn't start school that year but Lilian forced her and encouraged her to go to school that it was what her father had always looked forward to and she conceded deciding to go to school after the burial of her father, she was in so much pain but decided to bottle everything up and go back to school. By the time Ara resumed school she had missed almost half of the semester but she didn't allow anything to discourage her as she went about her clearance, paying her school fees,her hostel fees,as she registered her courses for architecture and as she settled down in school and tried to catch up with her mates in school . She tried her best but she wasn't satisfied with it, she started applying to different scholarship programmes but she couldn't get any and she decided to….. “We are sorry to announce that the flight going to California this evening would be postponed until tomorrow morning” this was what dragged Ara from her thoughts as she heard what was being announced and she was a bit flustered cause she would have to make changes to her plan for the cab that is supposed to pick her up from the airport in California the following morning she was still in thoughts as she stood and didn't know when she bumped into someone as she almost lost her footings but was held by someone who smelled soooo good and as she looked up to see who it was she was greeted by a mesmerizing face and she was starstruck as she ogled him she forgot she was still in his arms until someone cleared their throat and she saw it was a man who was standing beside the tall good looking man who had stopped her from falling and embarrassing herself and she apologized and thanked him but he just nodded walking away without saying a word and this made her embarrassed but she just shook it away and considered him being rude and she started towards the counter where she was originally heading to before her encounter with the rude man, on getting there she exchanged pleasantries with the lady there and went ahead to enquire about the reason why the flight was being postponed until the next morning and the lady only apologized without giving her any reason and she returned to her seat disappointed and went ahead to make changes to her plan for the following day upon her arrival, few minutes into doing so she heard some girls giggling and talking about something and it peaked her intrest as they were talking about the reason why the flight was being postponed and all; she later found out that the man she had bumped into was the reason for the whole flight postponement as he was someone of high social rank in the united state and doesn't like flying with locals and the girls were giggling and wishing they were dating him and how fine he was and this pissed her off the more as she considered him not only rude but selfish as she went back to srolling through her phone only for her to remember that she wasn't done with changing her plans for tomorrow as she decided to give the cab man that was supposed to pick her up from the airport in California a call about the change in time and the reason as she apologized to him and she went ahead to get something to eat as she continue to wait for her flight for the next morning.
