Three months had passed since my last vision.
To say that I wasn’t scared, would be a lie. I was more than scared.
Skoll did tell me about Warg.
Apparently Warg is Skoll’s younger brother, which makes him my Uncle.
According to my good old dad, he and Warg had a huge fight and argument over none other than yours truly.
Warg wanted to be the one to create me, but Skoll said that there was no way he was going to be the creator of the moon goddess while he was still breathing.
Warg took that as a challenge as so the war began.
They fought and argued for centuries over it apparently.
Then, I guess it was the universe’s decision to end the feud.
Warg was kicked out of wherever it is they were and could no longer go back there or turn into human form.
The only reason my father Skoll didn’t get kicked out was because he was defending his destiny, however because there was blood shed and fur flying in all directions, his punishment was he too could no longer change back into human form.
I didn’t hold the fact that Skoll failed to share this piece of vital information from me against him, but I was certainly pissed off at him none the less.
It was summertime now, the days were hot, the nights seemed even hotter, and I could not for the life of me cool down.
Jade had gone on some little pilgrimage. Apparently she needed certain flowers and leaves and whatever else that were only available at a certain spot during the summer months. So that meant that for the whole summer, I was pretty much going to be on my own.
Well, except on the days Skoll comes to visit.
I decided seeing has how it was a beautiful morning; I was going to head down to the pool and go cool down.
The water was amazing. Cool and refreshing.
I sat on a rock in the water and watched how the ripples glided over my skin.
This was bliss.
“Luna?” A female voice whispered.
Pulling me from my revelry.
“Whose there? Who said that? Show yourself!” I snapped.
On the other side of the pool, stood a young woman. Her eyes were a gorgeous burnt orange colour, I was certain I had seen those eyes somewhere before.
“I didn’t mean to startle or upset you Luna, my apologies. My name is Athena. I was one of the six wolves you saw.” She replied.
I got out of the pool and sat on the edge.
“Please, come sit by me.” I patted the ground next to me.
She warily came over and sat next to me. We dangled our feet in the cool water.
“So, Athena is it?”
“Yes.”
“What brings you here, this is my little sacred pool, and I am not usually one to share my things with strangers.”
“Oh, Haha no I fully understand that, no you see, the others and I have met you before.”
“How? That is impossible, I’ve only been here a short time. There is no way we h…..!” I made an O shape with my mouth, just then I realized where I had seen her eyes before and what she meant by her, and her pack had met me before.
“You remember then?” Athena questioned.
“Yeah, I think I do.” I replied.
“Well, the others would like to meet you officially as well, if that is ok with you of course.”
“Umm yes of course, ahh how about we all meet at my home in a days’ time?”
“Sounds great.” Athena jumped up and clapped her hands together excitedly and left.
I went to stand up, I felt a little dizzy, so I sat back down again.
I could feel my eyes roll to the back of my head, hmmm that was new.
Then I saw myself standing in front of six figures.
The rogue wolf pack.
Once I came out of my vision I sat for a minute.
Then, right on que a little thought spark popped into my mind.
And I knew exactly what it was and what that vision meant.
I jumped up and ran as fast as I could to the house.
“Jade, Jade!” I yelled as I was running up to the gate.
“My god girl, what a re you yelling about?” Jade stood up from the garden that she was attending to.
“Do I have enough blood in the bowl?” I puffed.
“Ahh yes, I think so, why? Why are you so bloody excited?”
“Too many questions, don’t have time for questions.” I shouted as I ran inside.
Jade followed me.
“Luna, what is going on?”
“I properly met one of the rogue wolves, the one with the burnt orange coloured eyes, she introduced herself to me as Athena.”
“Okay, but what has that got to do with anything?”
“Well she said that the others would like to properly meet me as well, so I said sure, come by my house in a days’ time.”
“Right.” Jade said.
“Well, after she left I got another vision, only this time I felt my eyes roll to the back of my head, I felt dizzy then I had the vision.”
“Luna, will you just get to the point already?” Jade was getting impatient.
“Those six rogues will be my new elder pack!” I exclaimed.
“Wow. Really?” Jade was now starting to get excited.
“Yeah so, between now and a days’ time I have to write out everything to do with the elders that I have swimming through my head currently.”
As much as I was excited, I was also equally as nervous.
I, for the first time in history was going to perform a ceremony to establish an elder pack, who will help me make sure all rules, laws and regulations are upheld.
I grabbed my little bowl of blood and a quill and begun writing down the Book of Elders.
It was well after midnight when I had finished writing the first part of the book of elders.
I re-read what I had already written, made sure it was all in order, that there were no mistakes.
After all, once the ceremony was done, this pack of rogues were going to be the new elders, and they were going to have responsibilities and their own set of laws to uphold, as well as helping me sort out a lot of other stuff along the way.
I finished up and headed upstairs to bed.
I needed to get at least a few hours sleep before the ceremony.
I awoke to the sounds of several voices in my house. Two I recognised and the others I did not.
I could smell eggs cooking.
A few days ago, Jade decided that we needed some chickens, so we ended up with about a dozen chooks and a rooster.
I got dressed and headed downstairs.
Everyone was sitting at the kitchen table; Jade had obviously conjured up a few more chairs so that everyone had a seat.
“Morning Luna.” Every said with mouthfuls of scrambled eggs and toast.
I just nodded at them all and sat down in my place at the head of the table.
“So, the rest of you must be the others I haven’t met yet.”
They all nodded.
“Ok, so let’s go around the table and you can all introduce yourselves to me, before I tell you what is going to be happening today.”
Everyone nodded.
I had already met Athena, her eyes were a burnt orange colour, yet still bright.
Before the other rogues introduced themselves, Athena mentioned that their wolves’ also shared their human names.
“Okay, that is something that I am going to have to address in the next day or so.” I say to everyone sitting at the table.
Jade is busy taking notes down. Even though I too am writing things down, Jade decided to help, just in case I forgot something very important, which was more than likely a huge possibility.
Once Athena said her little piece, the introductions started from the left of her.
“Luna, it is an honour to meet you. My name is Aztec, I am thirty two years old, and I pretty much formed this band of rogues.”
I nodded.
Aztec had the bluest blue eyes I had ever seen.
“Hi Luna, I am Dakota, and I am Arcadia’s twin, we are thirty years old.”
“Luna, my name is Lance, and I am twenty two years of age.”
“Hi there Luna, as you can tell I am Dakota’s twin sister, Arcadia.” She smiled.
“Pleased to make your acquaintance there Luna, I am Kodiak, and I’m thirty three.”
I nodded again.
Dakota had pretty pale green eyes, while her twin had hazel eyes.
Kodiak had bright green eyes, and Lance had yellow eyes.
Everyone was silent for a moment and finishing up their breakfast.
“So, as you all may already know, I am apparently destined to become the moon goddess. Why I don’t exactly know.”
“Ahh Luna?” Arcadia said while raising her hand.
“Yes?”
“The day we first saw you we knew exactly who you are. We also found out that very same day that you were going to give each one of us our destiny.”
They were all looking at me, with so much hope in their eyes.
“Well, yes I am going to give you all your so called destiny, if that’s what you want to call it, I guess.” I said.
They all started whispering between themselves.
“Okay, well I actually already know what your destiny is. You all are going to become Elders. You will help me keep peace and order to our world, and to make sure that no human dies at the hands any supernatural and that all supernatural’s keep our existence a secret. You will also have your own packs to help the chosen alpha’s and their mates’ run. Not forgetting that you will all have certain laws to also abide by, otherwise you will be stripped of your rank as elder and be banished to live as a rogue.”
Again everyone nodded.
“Also, I am going to be needing you all to help me work out some laws and rules etc, that EVERYONE will abide by or else there will be severe consequences to those who disobey. These laws will be written down in my blood and Jade will be looking after the original documents, she will also produce a copy for each and every one of you to keep in your possession. Oh one other thing, my word is final.”
There was complete silence at the table.
The soon to be new elders were in awe and very surprised at what Luna had just told them.
“Luna, excuse my interruption, but um…how are we going to become Elders?, I mean look at us!” Lance said.
“Lance, that is why there will be a ceremony at the next new moon. I will make you all elders and give you your alpha and their mate.”
“Right, so what are we going to be doing in the mean time?” Athena asked.
“Good question Athena, so, here’s what’s gonna happen. You are all going to write down what you think are good laws to have, we will all discuss as a group and then once agreed upon I will write them down in my blood.”
Jade handed them all some blank scrolls, ink and quills.
“While you are all working on that, I will be working in my study on your ceremony.”
And with that I stood up and left them to do their tasks.
“I think we should just write down whatever comes to mind, we can sort it all out with Luna when we are done.” Kodiak said.
“I also think that we should take our time, be creative as well as fair and just. We need to set the standards, and if we can make the Luna’s job a lot more easier for her, then that is what we will do.” Aztec suggested.
They all nod in agreement.
“Remember guys, what ever Luna writes down in her blood is the final word and that will have to be obeyed, we need to make sure it all makes sense and that each and every rule or law is properly and carefully explained in a certain amount of detail” Lance added.
They all began to write and discuss amongst themselves.
“Luna?”
“Yeah Jade?”
“I think you chose well with this motley looking lot.” Jade giggled.
“Oh really? And what makes you say that my dear friend?”
“Well, just overhearing them all speaking to each other, and they seem to be grasping what you want them to do, they’re discussing with each other and there’s not one ounce of any of them trying to take the lead, they are already treating themselves as equals.”
“Well then half the battle has been won.” Luna smiled.
“How’s your ceremony planning going?” Jade asked.
“Hmmm I think I may need your opinion on this, tell me what you think!”
Luna handed over several pages to Jade.
As Jade was reading and putting a few little notes here and there, she couldn’t help but smile to herself.
Luna was going to make a wonderful moon goddess.
“Well Luna, I think that this is pretty damn good. You know what to do next.”
Luna nodded.
She grabbed out her little bowl of blood and began writing the ceremony down on a scroll.
A few days had passed.
Everyone was still writing and talking, discussing better wording and how that word works better with this word and so on and so forth.
By the fifth day, the future elders had pages and pages written down.
They took the pages to Luna and Jade.
“Wow, you guys really put some thought and effort into this, good job, well done.” Luna said.
Luna too had been working very hard on her side of things, she had lots of notes written down, but so far the only thing that was fully written out and ready to go was the Elder’s ceremony.
The new moon was still a week away.
“Ok then, so you guys have pretty much written the laws and rules book all out for me, good work.”
“Luna, we have taken our chosen roles, destiny if that’s what you want to call it, very seriously. We want to make sure that not only you, but everyone is treated fairly and if they have broken any of our laws, then they will be treated accordingly, and to the laws that you have made final.” Kodiak spoke with confidence and pride.
“How about we all sit down, have some tea and discuss, as we discuss each law, Luna can officially write it down.” Jade said.
Everyone agreed.
So I grabbed the book that was going to be used to document and make final all the laws, and Jade made everyone a cup of tea.
We only had a week to get everything written down. Well we didn’t have to, but I wanted to. I wanted to have it all written down by the time the elder’s ceremony came.
Of course over time there will be more laws added, some may even be obsolete and have to be removed, but for every law or regulation that is removed, another one has to take its place. It was all about balance.
So, we decided to put everything into categories.
For example we had a banishment section, depending on the severity of the crimes you would either be banished to the outskirts of your territory, or banished out of the pack completely, therefore having to live as a rogue.
Then there was the by death section which we later changed to execution. These were for the more serious crimes, things like murder, false mate marking, falsifying information, kidnapping, abuse/torture.
However, with permission from the elders, pack alphas' were allowed under strict guidelines and probable cause to use certain methods to extract information out of prisoners. But only if the elders are aware and there also must be a minimum of two elders in attendance at each information extraction.
Now, what I found most intriguing were the rules they had set for themselves and other future elders. I was very surprised at just how in depth they had made their laws to obey.
Things like, killing an Alpha is a no questions asked execution, using ones own power to benefit themselves is instant banishment to rogueville (that’s what Lance nicknamed it), killing or injuring another elder also led to execution.
Defying, lying to the moon goddess, yep you got it, instant on the spot execution.
To say I was proud of my decision to have these guys as my elders was very heart warming indeed. Not only were they taking their future jobs and roles very seriously, but they were also treating me with the utmost respect. It was a good feeling.
They had all worked hard on what they thought would be fair and justifiable laws to follow. And the fact that the laws they made for themselves to follow, just showed how much they valued not only their future roles, but their lives as well.
Ahh, I see you are progressing well my child.
Thankyou, Skoll. It’s so nice to hear your voice again.
Haha I’m glad my voice brings you comfort. So my dear, how are things going?
Great, I must say. I think everything is going to plan and is right on track, well for now at least.
Excellent. So I understand that the elders have a ceremony at the new moon.
Yes that they do, not yet sure on what’s going to happen after that, guess we will just have to wait and see.
Well, I will be in attendance for it, so I will bid you goodnight daughter and see you in a few days’ time.
And with that Skoll was gone and my head was quiet for a moment.
The next few days leading up to the Ceremony Of The Elders everyone just kind of did their own thing. We did actually have a little ceremony for my little pool. From now on it was going to be where all different kinds of ceremonies would take place. It was now sacred ground and there was to be no blood shed. This of course excluded blood needed for certain ceremonies.
It was the night before the new moon.
I was struggling to get to sleep.
Then I felt that familiar feeling of my eyes rolling to the back of my head.
I was about to have another vision.
When I came too I found myself lying on the floor. Ok. I sat up and felt for any lumps and bumps, there were none that I could feel. But then of course with my ability to heal really quickly they may have already healed.
I sat up and scooched on over to my bed and leant against it.
Lu, you there?
Yeah Luna, I am.
Wow, that was some vision huh?
Yes, well it seems that you will have this ceremony of the elders all sorted by the looks of that vision. Lu said rather excitedly.
Yup, you’re not wrong there. I just hope that it’s not painful. I said back to Lu.
I think that they will be ok. They look like they are strong not just in body but in mind and spirit. Lu said softly.
The moment of the ceremony of the elders had finally arrived.
Jade was next to Skoll.
The six future elders were all standing in front of me, their future moon goddess.
There was a soft and gentle breeze.
There was not a cloud in the sky.
I took a deep breath and begun.
“Before we get to the nitty gritty, I just want to say that this is not just a ceremony to make you elders, it is also a ceremony where I will give either your wolf a name or your human self a name, once the ceremony is over and you have fully accepted your destiny as elders, then and only then will your transformation be complete and final.”
Everyone bowed there heads in recognition to Luna’s words.
“Here tonight, the night of the new moon, I Luna future moon goddess will formerly give either you wolf form or human form a new name. Okay so when I say your name, you will step forward. Aztec, your human name will be Aaron and your wolf will stay as Aztec.” He nodded.
“Kodiak, your human name will be Kyle and your wolf will stay as Kodiak.” He bowed.
“Dakota, your human name will be Alice and your wolf will stay as Dakota.” She nodded.
“Arcadia, your human name will be Diana and your wolf will stay as Arcadia.” She nodded.
“Lance, your wolf name will be Cobalt and your human name will stay as Lance.” He nodded with a slight smile.
“Last but not least, Athena, your wolf name will be Skylar and your human name will stay as Athena.” She too had a smile and nodded.
“As future moon goddess I Luna, appoint Aaron and Aztec, Kyle and Kodiak, Alice and Dakota, Diana and Arcadia, Lance and Cobalt, Athena and Skylar to be the elders of our supernatural world. Do you all accept this role and destiny that I am about to bestow upon you?”
“We do, Luna!”
“And do you all promise to uphold and obey all laws old and new to keep our world safe and peaceful?”
“We promise, Luna!”
“Will you all also inform each other and myself of any and all miss doings of others?”
“We will, Luna!”
“Do you all promise to obey the laws of the elders?”
“We promise, Luna!”
“Very well, please hold out your left hands, palms up.”
As they each gave me their left palms, I blessed them and drew blood with my ceremony blade, the blood dripped into a small ceremony bowl. Once all their blood was mixed together, I then drew my own blood and let six drops fall into the bowl. I mixed all our blood with the blade, then I placed a blood mark on their foreheads using the blade. Once the last mark was done I continued on with the last bit of the ceremony.
“I Luna, future moon goddess now pronounce you all as Elders! Congratulations!”
Then the most weird, well no I won’t say weird. Instead I’ll use the word magical.
So anyway then the most magical thing happened.
They all fell to their knees and changed into their wolf forms. Their fur had remained the same colour that they were born with, however now they had gold tips added to their coats, and their eyes were much brighter, still the same colours, just so much brighter.
They all turned around and looked at themselves in the pool’s water.
“Well, what do you all think?” I asked them telepathically.
They all turned around and bowed their heads.
Once all the formal stuff was done and out of the way, I had to make sure that they and their wolves were happy with their names.
Which they all said they were.
“But what about your wolf Luna?” Diana asked.
“My wolf will still be and forever known as Lu.” I said.
“Fair enough.” Was all Diana said.
Skoll and Jade headed over towards us.
“Oh my, wow!” Jade exclaimed.
“what?” I asked.
“What? You mean to say that you didn’t see all those tiny little electrical like charges in the air after they all looked at themselves in the water?” Jade almost shouted.
“Ahh, nope.” I said.
“I saw them Jade.” Skoll spoke.
“Phew, glad I wasn’t the only one then, for a minute there I thought I was going crazy!”
“No, no you weren’t! In actuality, those little electrical like charges actually sealed the deal so to speak.” Skoll said.
“Really? So it’s all official now, they are my elders?” I quizzed.
“Yes they are.” And with that Skoll bid his fair well after more congratulations and left.
“So, how does everyone feel?” Jade asked. You could tell she was super excited by the whole thing.
“Well, I feel, I don’t know the word really, I guess the closest words I can use would be uplifted, spiritualized even.” Kyle said.
Everyone agreed with Kyle’s pick of words. They all could feel it too.
We all headed back to the house. Jade made us something to eat and drink and we all sat down at the table.
We talked about the evenings events. They were all curious as to how I went about giving them all new names. I told them that the night before I had a vision and believe it or not the vision and ceremony played out exactly the same as each other. There was nothing out of place or different.
“Over the next few days, we are all going to have to sit down and work out where you all are going to live, what territories and borders are going to be and whose going to run what!” I said with a yawn.
“Yep, we certainly have a lot more work to do yet!” Jade chimed in.
And with that, the elders left and went to their little makeshift houses, while Jade and I went upstairs, hugged then went to our own beds.
