Since I have no plan to stay at our tent, I am so eager to read the plans for my mother's project in solitude. I just simply shrug and I immediately stomp out of the tent. My father is the cook of the family, and he is doing homemaker's duties. He and my mother have their roles reversed. He is a writer. My mother is an archeologist, and she acts like the head of the family. She is the brain of the family and she is the one making every decision in our family, to cut it short, my family is matriarchal. And currently we are in Albenga along the Ligurian Riviera in northern Italy , for her biggest archeological project to date. We are here for a two month long research and excavation. The archaeologist job description is just her front for the human populace. My mother has an alter-ego, she is a sciscitator. A sciscitator is an important sector of Superno, our secret world, a world we keep so hidden that humans aren't aware of. She is like a seeker, a researcher, an investigator. Her job is to find clues, locations, and information about the Flagitor. Flagitors are a menace to the whole world. They can have vampire-like traits or a demon-fairy power. They hurt and kill people, they ruin lives, they bring death to the innocent. I am an aspiring sciscitator. In fact I am my mother's apprentice, when I turn eighteen I will be going through a series of trials and after that I will be recognized as a full-fledged sciscitator. And I can't wait for that day to come. I am a polymath, so that characteristic of mine would really help in my investigations and research. I have been traveling all over different places of the globe now assisting my mom in searching for the truth, discovering the whereabouts and informations of the menace to the humankind.when the moment comes that we are able to get ahold of the information about the Flagitor we report it to the Carnifex. Carnifex are the slayers,they are Superno's version of bringers of justice. Known as the executioners, they bring the Flagitors to their final and eternal sleep. We consider Flagitors as unliving rogues for they prey on every living creature, either from Superno itself or an ordinary human. They either absorb the life essence of their victim or they suck them out, either way draining the life out of its victims. I believe that I existed because I can solve mysteries so that I can help humankind and bring peace. Sciscitator are gifted with intuition, cleverness and ultra-intelligence. It's typical for sciscitator to excel in academics, competitions, sciences and jobs which need serious usage of mental faculties. My mom chose the job of an archeologist because that would give her the chance to dabble with historical sites and historical goods which are often the haven for information about the flagitors. Flagitors who are ancient have more strength and speed. They also lack traces of humanity hence they are very cruel. They can easily wipe out an entire village in minutes. Government usually cover up these events as viruses, plagues, illnesses or terrorism but the truth is flagitors are responsible for such crimes. Superno has connections with the government, the government respects Superno being a more advanced civilization and is thankful for Superno's benevolence on protecting humankind, Superno's condition is for the government to keep its existence and activities a secret. I like to study and learn things. I am fascinated with ideas, how people think, I devote plenty of my time pondering and introspecting and I like reading about historical events and figures. In short I spend my time in the library, in my room, in seclusion, because I'd like to broaden my understanding of human nature. Nothing is more beautiful than witnessing others' minds, especially how the minds of people metamorphosize throughout the passage of time and knowing yourself fully and completely. "that's why you never have a boyfriend Ella because you are more interested with staying up at night reading your boring ancient manuscripts and reading biographies of ancient dudes than staying up chatting with a hot guy or atleast having fun times with them." My best friend Nana would remind me that almost everyday. Nana is my fun-loving, spontaneous, adventurous and boy crazy friend. It's weird that we became best friends because we are totally opposite. She is tall, like supermodel tall, skinny, has fair skin, straight blonde hair, blue-eyed and has Greek nose which is characterized by a long and elegant bridge. While I am of average height 165centimeters only, have curves in the right places, olive skinned, large brown eyes that look out of proportion to my small face, brown wavy hair that's difficult to manage, a small button nose and sensuous lips. As Nana puts it, I'm like a present day version of Lolita which annoys me when she brings that up. Nana and I have different views of things but we are fond of each other, as she stresses I need her to put some" F" in her life, because according to her I seem to not know the meaning of the word fun. Currently her idea of being fun is dating boys and sleeping with them. Whatever, I believe that when time is right, the gods will lead the right person to me.. "Uh no, not again you and your ancient gods are really hopeless, he will not come to you, so take an action ella girl, or you'll be single all life long.''Nana would answer back. If I'll be single all my life but will be asked to do archeological and research projects one after another,and become the top sciscitator of Superno, a lifetime that I could fully use my mental faculties I'd be totally game. Who needs a man if you have knowledge at your fingertips, wouldn't it be a blessing that you could help humankind, and bring them a peaceful life indirectly? "At least think of yourself Ella, you are already seventeen, and in today's world you are turning into a spinster." Nana's nagging would sound like a broken record. I'm not, I am just plainly a late bloomer. Nana doesn't have any idea of my true identity, to most people, I am just an average teenager, tagging along with my parents when they work on their projects, but that's not the case. My life is exciting and thrilling but along with it comes danger as well,for you'll never know what truths you are going to unravel or who you will come across.
