According to the locals artifacts have been found near the area where our camp was situated. That means we are likely to entomb the infamous Lord Aric soon . My mom is more enthusiastic than ever and today is such a busy day for everyone. So much digging is taking place today and when I say digging it is mainly carefully scraping away dirt with a trowel.
Then everything is recorded including the locations of features and artifacts, the profiles and layouts of units in each layer of soil. The context of a site after it has been destroyed is preserved by These measurements, drawings, and photos. In these ways and methods help archaeologists generate knowledge about humanity’s past.
We are indeed lucky that technology is present to make our jobs easier and quicker. Techniques like aerial and satellite photography, along with Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR), allow archaeologists to locate sites from above.
Aerial photography can also be used and it is very useful over cropland. The buried artifacts and other archeological goods may change the richness of the soil above them, either by causing the plants in their vicinity to grow more robustly or sparsely than the surrounding vegetation. This creates a pattern shape that can only be seen aerially.
Since I am done with my school assignment I started rearranging and cleaning my quarters. I then decided to visit the town proper again since this will be the last week for the town's celebration. I am hoping that I'll come across another exciting discovery.
"Ella are you going to the town proper again?"
"yes Dad"
"Then bring Cali along with you, he needs his exercise"
Cali is my 8 month old black shih tzu. He was given to me when I turned 17. Cali is just a shortened name for Caligula, I named him after the infamous Roman emperor because for such a small dog he can be extremely mean and evil. Cali is a gift from my mother, she jokingly said that I need to be more playful and fun, so she gave me Cali a reminder that I have to be less rigid and serious. Cali is not fun at all, he barks, whines and howls most of the time. And he barks like crazy when he notices that I have gone asleep only to stop when I gain consciousness. Sometimes I think he was given to me just to piss me. He likes to chew my stuff, those which I am extremely fond of are his favorite chew toys, especially my books, which is plainly mean of him because books are gods gifts to us, and he has the nerve to do that. What he does is sacrilege, stupid Cali. Now I have to be careful that Cali is with me, or he might get carried away with what he sees and smells.
It was kind of off but Cali was well-mannered today. He didn't chase or scare kids or animals away. He seemed calm which I find quite suspicious. Cali is always behaving badly. It's funny but Cali is like my unwanted pet, maybe that's why I am not fond of him. It's like we have some secret rivalry. I dropped by a local bookstore on my way back to the camp and I am grinning like crazy because I bought plenty of books at a very discounted rate. And they are ancient books so they are a great find. I love the smell of books, it makes me alert and excited about whatever information I can get from them. I consider them my friends. I don't have so many friends because of my introverted personality.I like to work on things independently and I shun public gatherings, so I've never been to parties, concerts or any events of that sort. Nana is someone close to me who is of the same age as I am. I am in a hurry to return to our camp since I want to start scanning the books.
I was so lost in my thoughts again when I felt a light tug of Cali's leash. Cali started giving a happy yip.
"What's the matter Cali? Home is right this way, come follow me. "
But I noticed that Cali is giving his full attention to the unknown object he sees. I know that Cali is excited over something and he sounds happy because he rarely sounds like that when I am with him. Whatever he sees, seems like his longtime friend. Whatever, Cali is really a stupid dog. I started dragging him, because he remained on his spot, eventually he followed me, which was a good thing otherwise I might be tempted to leave him there.
The gods must have blessed this very night because inside my quarters Cali isn't pacing around or chewing my books and howling like he used to do. He sits calmly on the corner, but he has that suspiciously alert look. I really don't understand this dog. It was three hours past midnight when I felt that sleep started to creep in, so I stopped scanning the books and I began putting them away when a thin booklet came out of a book I haven't scanned yet. It's an old booklet and judging from its appearance may have existed centuries ago. It has plenty of writings which I need to decipher and various illustrations which look very detailed. An illustration has caught my attention because it looks somewhat familiar, I tried remembering where I have seen it when suddenly my train of thoughts was cut off due to cali's happy bark. I don't know why Cali is happy at the moment, maybe he's plainly delighted because I couldn't remember things, such a really mean doggo.
I was woken up two hours after with my mother's loud laughter. And I know what it means when I hear that, my mother is extremely happy because she has discovered what we are here for and days will be busier than ever before because the tomb of the infamous flagitor Lord Aric has been found.
