Natty’s POV:
Before I did anything I asked Clifton if I could get settled before I came downstairs. “Of course Natty we’ll just stay outside for a little bit when your ready to go to the study so I can explain everything just shout one of us will come.” He said with another heart pounding smile. I nodded back to him and smiled back. After they closed the door I went to my bag that had the letter that I was to read today. Before I read the letter I put away everything after about 15 minutes I got everything situated. Then I sat on the bed and read my late Gramy’s letter.
My sweet Natty,
I know you must be having a hard time with my passing but baby just know that we will see each other again you just have to be a good girl until then. I’m writing this letter to you honey because I fear your mother wouldn’t have told you the truth about that nightmare you always had and the truth behind it. When you were five years old she and I erased your memory to protect you, because of that man in your dream the werewolf? Well I hope your sitting down…he’s real baby and that dream was no dream it really happened. I’m sorry I didn’t get the chance to tell you the truth. While I was still alive but I fear my memory won’t last much longer so whatever you do, listen to Clifton for he is your future husband. Your father made a pact with his and they arranged the marriage to always keep you safe. Now for the most important thing my sweet girl. You are a witch by birth from my side and from your fathers a hunter who has been serving the van helsing family for centuries. I know this is a lot to take in but you must survive no matter what! I love you Natty and I’ll love you for the rest of eternity.
Be good. ~Gramy
After I finished the letter I was at a loss for words as well as having a million questions but my main questions were just two. Who was the man from my dream? And why didn’t my mother tell me the truth about this? Hell I get not wanting to scare me but it would’ve been better if she’d just told me. I didn’t know it but I cried “before I call them I better go splash some cold water on my face” I said to myself. I don’t know why but I instinctily looked behind me, I don’t know why but it felt as though someone was watching but nobody was there so I decided to check and looked outside my room to make sure again nobody there. “I’m getting a real déjà vu feeling here” I said with a worried tone, I need to snap out of it.
After I calmed down and finished washing my face from the tears, I called for Clifton and Kyle they arrived quick just like they said they would and then they began to bring me to the study. I don’t know why but this castle seemed so familiar to me, I feel like I know what’s around every corner almost like I have been here before it’s really no wonder I dreamed of it and I had been here before. I guess Clifton noticed the face I was making as they guided me to the study “let me guess everything seems familiar like you have been here before yet you don’t know why your feeling this way? Am I dead on?” Clifton said with a smooth smile. All I could do was nod with a frown on my face, then before I could react I felt someone hug me so tightly and their smell it was just so familiar to me. I looked up and saw a woman who was about my mothers age, “Hi my Nathina” she said with the biggest warmest smile, I looked back at Clifton and then back to her with my head c****d. “I’m sorry but do I know you ma’am?” I said with a confused and sorry look on my face. “Yes you do know me sweetheart, I’m your godmother Irina and Clifton’s mother. I think it’s time we told you what’s happening with you now.”
After we got settled in this cathedral styled study, Irina began to explain but I had to cut her off and tell her about my grandmother. Since my gramy didn’t say I couldn’t trust anyone I’ll have to try and trust my godmother. “I hate to interrupt you Ms. Irina but my grandmother wrote me a letter before she died and I just finished reading it a little while ago. I have a few questions and I think you and Clifton can answer these questions.”
I said with confidence and determination, Clifton was smiling at me with a look of pride. “I think I should start with Clifton” I said he raised one eyebrow and said “alright what’s your question?” “Can you explain to me why our fathers arranged our marriage? And who that man was when I was 5?” I said with my arms crossed eagerly waiting for him to answer the question. After a few minutes he said “Our fathers believed that it would be a good way for both families to benefit plus they fact when you were a little younger you’d always ask your dad can I keep him?” My eyes widened when he said this to me, I have no memory of my dad I wonder did my mom erase that memory too? Clifton continued to speak “As for the second question you asked about that man your talking about, he’s the werewolf king William I believe and he’s trying to make you his mate, because that child would be the strongest hybrid in creation” I was at a loss for words “plus the fact he wouldn’t care if you accepted or not.” I gasped when he said that “don’t worry I’ll never let that happen to you” Clifton said as he held my hands while Irina hugged me. I really like her hugs their so warm and loving just like my moms. “Irina, why did my mother erase my memory of you and Clifton and even of Transylvania? I couldn’t have been just to protect me could it?” I asked her with slight concern “sweetheart” she said “that’s going to be a hard one to explain, but I’ll do my best but which time do you mean? The first when you were a little itty bitty baby? Or when you were 5?” She asked me “both please!” I said. Irina took a deep breath and let out a sigh.
