THE MOTHER THAT LEFT MEChapter 1 — The Child She Left BehindI used to wonder what it felt like to have a mother who would fight for you.A mother who would choose you.A mother who would look at you and say, “Don’t worry. I’m here.”But growing up, I didn’t really know what that felt like.My mother had remarried and started another family. She had three daughters with my stepfather. And when she married my father, she took one of my sisters with her. They became a family. But me?I grew up somewhere else.In a different environment.A different background.A different kind of life. And as I grew older, I started noticing the difference.I watched my siblings grow up around the people who were supposed to love and protect them, while I was learning how to survive things on my own.Sometimes I asked myself:“Why wasn’t I the one she chose?”I didn’t hate my siblings.Actually, I wanted the opposite.I wanted us to be close.I wanted sisters who would love me, cherish me and protect me.I wanted us to be the kind of family that would stand together when life became difficult. But that wasn’t the family I got.Sometimes my siblings fought among themselves.Sometimes there were insults, arguments and hurtful words. And sometimes, I became part of the fight. There was one particular time I had a misunderstanding with one of my sisters.Instead of feeling protected, I felt completely alone.I remember my mother holding me while my sister beat me.That moment stayed inside me.I couldn’t understand how the woman I wanted to protect me could be standing there while I was being hurt.I kept asking myself:“Am I really her daughter too?”I tried so hard to earn love.I sacrificed.I helped.I gave whatever I could.Even when I didn’t have much, I still thought about my family. But somehow, it never felt like enough.Nobody saw the little girl inside me who was simply asking to be loved. So eventually, I learned something very painful:Sometimes you can be surrounded by family and still feel completely alone. At nineteen, I finally left.I didn’t leave because I hated my family.I left because I needed to find myself.I needed somewhere I could breathe.Somewhere I could become the woman I wanted to be.I didn’t have everything figured out.I didn’t have money.I didn’t have a perfect plan.I didn’t even know exactly where life was going to take me.But I knew one thing.I couldn’t continue living a life where I constantly felt unwanted. So I walked away. And that was the beginning of another chapter of my life.I started learning how to survive on my own.I learned my work.I hustled.I made mistakes.I cried.I fell down and picked myself back up.No one handed me the life I wanted.I had to build it myself. And even today, I’m still building.I’m not married.I don’t have children.I’m still focused on becoming something.Still working.Still hustling.Still trying to give myself the life that little girl once dreamed about.Sometimes I look back and wonder what would have happened if my mother had chosen me differently.Maybe my childhood would have been different.Maybe I would have felt more loved.Maybe I wouldn’t have spent so many years wondering whether I was enough. But I’ve stopped asking “Why me?”Because I have realized something. The girl who was once left behind didn’t disappear. She grew up.She survived. And she became me.I may have been the daughter who felt left behind, but I refuse to let that be the ending of my story. This is only Chapter 1.

The sister i love
THE SISTERS I LOVED Chapter One: The Sister I Thought I Could Trust SCENE 1 — THE HOUSE I CAME FROM NARRATOR: I grew up with my father. For most of my childhood, my father’s house was the only home I truly knew. Life there was not always easy, but I learned how to survive, how to keep my feelings to myself, and how to be strong even when nobody noticed that I was hurting. Then, at some point in my life, I went to stay with my mother. I thought going to my mother’s house would finally give me the family connection I had always wanted. I was wrong about many things. But one thing I got right was meeting my sister. She was my biological sister. We shared the same mother. We shared the same father. For the first time, I felt like I had found someone who truly belonged to me. Someone whose blood ran through my veins. Someone I could call my sister without explaining myself. And I loved her. Not halfway. Not because I expected anything in return. I loved her genuinely. SISTER: “You know you can always count on me, right?” NARRATOR: Whenever she said those words, I believed her. And whenever she needed me, I tried my best to be there. We laughed together. We talked about our problems. Sometimes we fought like normal sisters, but somehow we always found our way back to each other. I thought nothing could break us. I didn’t know that someone else was watching our relationship from the shadows. ⸻ SCENE 2 — THE OTHER SISTER My mother had another daughter. She was my stepsister, born from my mother and my stepfather. At first, I tried to love her too. I never wanted to be the sister who treated someone badly simply because we did not share the same father. I believed family was family. But with time, I began noticing something about her. Whenever something involved my stepfather’s relatives, she was quick to defend them. But whenever she felt that someone outside that circle had done something wrong, she could become extremely aggressive. Arguments started over the smallest things. A word. A misunderstanding. A mistake. Sometimes, she would shout. Sometimes, she would become violent. And whenever anyone tried to correct her, she would somehow turn the situation around until she looked like the victim. I often wondered how someone could hurt people and still make everyone feel sorry for her afterward. But I kept quiet. Because I didn’t want trouble. I kept telling myself: NARRATOR: “She is still my sister.” I didn’t know that one day, those words would become painful. ⸻ SCENE 3 — THE MONEY One day, I had finally saved enough money for something important. I had plans. Big plans. I wanted to use my savings to start a small business. It wasn’t a lot of money to other people, but to me, it represented months of sacrifice. There were things I had denied myself just to save. Food I had skipped. Things I wanted but refused to buy. Every little amount mattered. Then something happened. My money disappeared. And I knew who had taken it. I confronted my stepsister. NARRATOR: “That money was mine. I worked for it. I was saving it to start something for myself.” Instead of apologizing, the situation became a fight. Words turned into shouting. Shouting turned into violence. And before I knew what was happening, she attacked me. I stood there in shock. Not just because of the physical pain. But because I couldn’t understand how someone who called me family could hurt me over money that I had struggled so hard to save. That night, I cried alone. I looked at my empty hands and wondered: NARRATOR: “If this is what family means, then who am I supposed to trust?” But there was still one person I believed I could trust. My biological sister. My safe place. Or at least, that was what I thought. ⸻ SCENE 4 — THE SISTER I DEFENDED My biological sister had her own struggles. She wasn’t perfect. Neither was I. But I loved her. There were times when people criticized her, and I defended her. There were times when she made mistakes, and I tried to understand her. When she was pregnant, I was there emotionally. When she eventually gave birth, I was happy for her. I thought our bond would become even stronger. But after she had her baby, something changed. She started spending more time away from home. And eventually, she went to stay around my boyfriend’s place. At first, I didn’t think anything of it. Why would I? She was my sister. I trusted her. I trusted my boyfriend too. Two people I believed would never intentionally hurt me. But sometimes betrayal doesn’t come from strangers. Sometimes it comes from the people you never thought you had to watch. ⸻ SCENE 5 — THE CALL One day, I heard something that made my heart stop. I discovered that my sister had been getting involved with my boyfriend. At first, I refused to believe it. I told myself there had to be another explanation. Maybe someone had lied. Maybe I had misunderstood. Maybe people were simply trying to destroy our relationship. But deep down, something told me I needed the truth. So I confronted them. I called them together. My hands were shaking. My heart was beating so hard that I could hear it. NARRATOR: “Tell me the truth.” Silence. I looked at my sister. Then I looked at my boyfriend. The two people I had trusted most. I didn’t know which betrayal hurt more. The betrayal of a man I loved… Or the betrayal of a sister whose blood was the same as mine. I had spent so much of my life believing that blood meant loyalty. That sisters were supposed to protect one another. That when the entire world turned against you, your sister would stand beside you. But that day, I learned something painful. NARRATOR: “Being related to someone doesn’t automatically mean they will protect your heart.” I walked away from that situation carrying a wound nobody could see. From that day forward, I still loved my sister. But I stopped trusting her the same way. And that was the beginning of the biggest lesson my family ever taught me. Sometimes you can love someone deeply and still have to protect yourself from them. TO BE CONTINUED…
