The sky was already deepening into shades of indigo when Joon and Sera reached the hill.
The path was slightly damp from last night’s rain, the grass still carrying a faint scent of earth and freshness. The air felt cooler here, quieter—like the world below had been left behind.
Joon adjusted his cap, glancing at Sera walking just a step ahead of him. She looked different under the fading light. Softer. Almost unreal.
“Are you sure this is the best spot?” Sera asked, looking around as she hugged her arms lightly against the breeze.
Joon nodded. “Trust me. I came here yesterday… the view from the top is even better.”
They continued walking until they reached the highest point. The city lights were barely visible in the distance, replaced by a wide, open sky stretching endlessly above them.
Sera stopped.
“Wow…”
Her voice came out almost like a whisper.
The stars had already begun to appear—small, scattered lights blinking through the dark canvas of the sky.
Joon smiled faintly, watching her reaction instead of the view.
“Told you.”
Sera slowly sat down on the grass, pulling her knees close. Joon followed, leaving a small space between them—though it didn’t feel like enough.
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
The silence wasn’t awkward.
It was… comfortable.
“So,” Sera finally said, glancing at him, “you brought me here just for the view?”
Joon scratched the back of his neck. “Well… not just that.”
He hesitated.
Then added, “There’s supposed to be a meteor shower tonight.”
Sera blinked. “Seriously?”
“Yeah. I checked the forecast. Clear sky, perfect timing.”
Her eyes lit up, and for a second, she looked almost like a child discovering something magical.
“You planned this?” she asked.
Joon shrugged, trying to look casual. “Maybe.”
Sera smiled—soft, genuine—and something about it made Joon’s chest tighten.
“Thank you,” she said quietly.
Joon looked away, suddenly aware of how close she was.
“It’s nothing.”
A faint streak of light suddenly cut across the sky.
Sera gasped. “Did you see that?!”
Joon laughed. “Yeah. That’s the first one.”
They both tilted their heads upward, eyes fixed on the sky now.
Another streak followed.
Then another.
Each one brief, fleeting—but enough to leave a trail of wonder behind.
“It’s so beautiful…” Sera murmured.
Joon didn’t respond.
Because he wasn’t looking at the sky anymore.
He was looking at her.
The soft glow of starlight reflected in her eyes, making them shimmer. Her lips parted slightly in awe, her expression completely unguarded.
This… is dangerous, Joon thought.
Because in that moment, everything felt too real.
Another meteor shot across the sky.
“Make a wish!” Sera said quickly, closing her eyes.
Joon blinked, caught off guard. “…You still believe in that?”
“Just do it,” she insisted, eyes still closed.
He hesitated for a second… then slowly closed his eyes too.
I want…
His thoughts stopped.
Because for the first time, he didn’t know what to wish for.
Fame?
Success?
He already had those.
Instead
A different thought slipped in.
I want to see her again… even after this.
Joon opened his eyes.
Sera was still there.
Right next to him.
And somehow, that felt more uncertain than any wish.
“Done?” she asked, opening her eyes.
“Yeah.”
“What did you wish for?”
“If I tell you, it won’t come true.”
Sera narrowed her eyes slightly. “That sounds suspicious.”
Joon smirked. “Maybe it is.”
Another meteor passed overhead, longer this time.
Sera leaned slightly closer to him without realizing it.
Or maybe she did.
Joon felt it.
The small shift.
The distance between them shrinking.
His heartbeat picked up.
“Sera…” he started, his voice quieter now.
“Hm?”
He hesitated again.
Don’t do this.
But the words slipped out anyway.
“when you said we looked like a couple…”
Sera froze for a second.
Then slowly turned to him.
“Yeah?”
Joon swallowed.
“I didn’t hate it.”
Silence.
The kind that suddenly felt heavier than before.
Sera looked at him, her expression unreadable.
“Joon…”
“I know,” he said quickly, letting out a small breath. “It sounded weird. Forget I said that.”
But before he could look away
Sera spoke.
“It didn’t sound weird.”
Joon blinked.
“What?”
She looked back at the sky, her voice softer now.
“It just… sounded honest.”
Another meteor streaked across the sky, illuminating them for a brief second.
Joon didn’t know what to say.
Because his thoughts were already a mess.
And then
Without thinking
His hand moved.
Just slightly.
Brushing against hers.
Warm.
Real.
Sera didn’t pull away.
Instead, her fingers shifted just enough to lightly hold onto his.
Joon’s breath caught.
Neither of them looked at each other.
But neither of them let go.
Above them, the meteor shower continued—quiet, fleeting, beautiful.
And somewhere in between those falling stars and unspoken words.
Something changed.
Not rushed.
Not loud.
But certain.
Like a wish that hadn’t been spoken out loud…
yet somehow, was already coming true.
