Joon chapter 11

1205 Words
By the time they reached Sera’s cabin, the night had settled completely. The soft glow from the porch light welcomed them, casting warm shadows across the wooden walls. The quiet around them felt different now no longer just peaceful, but filled with something unspoken. Something lingering. Sera pushed the door open first. “Come in.” Joon followed, slipping off his shoes as he stepped inside. The familiar scent of her home light, warm, comforting wrapped around him instantly. “Sit,” Sera said, already heading toward the kitchen. “You must be hungry after climbing up and down the hill.” Joon let out a small laugh. “You can tell?” “I can hear your stomach from here.” “…Hey.” She glanced back at him with a teasing smile. “Ramen okay?” “More than okay.” A few minutes later, the sound of boiling water filled the small cabin. Joon leaned against the kitchen counter, watching her move around so naturally like this was her world, and he had somehow been allowed inside it. “You cook a lot?” he asked. “Only when I’m not being lazy,” she replied casually. “Ramen is my specialty.” “That’s reassuring,” Joon said, earning a small laugh from her. Soon, they sat across from each other with two steaming bowls between them. “Careful, it’s hot,” Sera said. Joon nodded and took a bite anyway. “…Hot.” Sera snorted. “I literally just warned you.” “I thought I could handle it.” “You clearly can’t.” Joon shook his head, laughing softly as he cooled his noodles. “Still tastes good though.” “Of course it does.” They ate in comfortable silence at first. But not the awkward kind. More like… the kind that felt easy. Every now and then, their eyes met and just as quickly looked away. “So,” Sera said after a while, resting her chin on her hand, “you bring all your ‘not-fans’ to watch meteor showers?” Joon raised an eyebrow. “You’re special.” The words slipped out so naturally that even he paused. Sera blinked. “…That sounded smoother than you expected, didn’t it?” she said. Joon coughed lightly. “I didn’t plan that.” “Sure you didn’t.” They both smiled. And just like that, the air softened again. Then Knock. Knock. Knock. Both of them froze. Joon frowned. “Are you expecting someone?” Sera shook her head slowly. “…No.” The knock came again this time louder. “Sera? I know you’re inside.” Sera’s expression changed instantly. “…Jessie?” Joon blinked. “Jessie?” Sera turned to him quickly, her voice dropping to a whisper. “You need to hide.” “What...why...?” “No time to explain. Come on.” Before Joon could argue, Sera grabbed his wrist and pulled him toward her room. “Wait, Sera ...” “Shhh!” She pushed him inside, glancing back toward the door. “Stay here. Don’t make a sound.” And then She closed the door. Joon stood there in the middle of her room, completely stunned. “…What is happening?” Outside, he could hear the door open. “Sera, finally,” a woman’s voice said. “Why is your phone so hard to reach?” “I was… busy,” Sera replied, trying to sound normal. Joon looked around quickly. Her room. It felt… too personal. Too close. His gaze landed on her bed. “…No way.” Footsteps. Coming closer. Joon panicked and immediately moved slipping behind the side of the bed, crouching slightly. This is insane. “I need to stay here tonight,” Jessie said from outside. “There’s something urgent about the magazine.” Joon froze. Stay? “You’re staying?” Sera sounded surprised. “Yes. It’s too late to go back, and we need to talk about your father’s instructions.” Joon’s eyes widened. Her father…? “I’ll just sleep here tonight,” Jessie continued casually. “…Here?” Sera repeated. “Unless you want me to sleep outside.” Joon could practically hear Sera thinking. “…No, you can stay,” she finally said. Joon silently pressed a hand over his face. Great. Just great. Time passed slowly. Painfully slowly. Joon didn’t dare move as voices came in and out, conversations about work, deadlines, and things he didn’t fully understand. Eventually, the cabin grew quiet again. The door to the room opened softly. Joon looked up. Sera slipped inside, closing it carefully behind her. They stared at each other for a second. Then Joon whispered, “Your father?” Sera immediately pressed a finger to her lips. “Not now.” He frowned but nodded. “She’s sleeping in the living room,” Sera whispered. “So…” She glanced at her bed. Then back at him. Joon followed her gaze. “…No.” Sera sighed. “You want to go out there instead?” “…No.” “Exactly.” They both stood there, silently negotiating reality. Then Sera sat down on the edge of the bed. “…Just sleep. We’ll figure it out in the morning.” Joon hesitated. This was Too much. But at the same time… He didn’t leave. Slowly, he sat down on the other side. They lay down carefully, both facing opposite directions at first. The space between them felt Too small. Joon stared at the ceiling. This is dangerous. He could feel her presence so clearly. Every small movement. Every breath. “Joon…” Sera whispered. “…Yeah?” “Don’t overthink it.” “…Too late.” Sera let out a quiet laugh. And somehow That made it worse. Minutes passed. Neither of them slept. Joon shifted slightly. Then froze. “…Did you just move closer?” he whispered. “No,” Sera whispered back. “…You did.” “I didn’t.” “Your shoulder is literally touching mine.” “That’s because the bed is small!” “…This bed is not that small.” “Then maybe you’re too big.” “…Hey.” Sera let out another quiet laugh, quickly covering her mouth. “Shhh, she’ll hear us.” “Then stop accusing me,” Joon whispered. “Then stop moving closer.” “I’m not!” Silence. Then— “…Okay maybe a little.” Sera turned slightly toward him. “…Why?” Joon hesitated. Then answered honestly. “…It’s warmer.” Sera paused. And for once She didn’t tease him. “…Yeah,” she whispered. Slowly Carefully The space between them disappeared. Not rushed. Not forced. Just… natural. Joon could feel her hand brush lightly against his. Neither of them pulled away. “…Joon,” Sera whispered again. “Hmm?” “…You’re really bad at staying away, aren’t you?” Joon let out a soft breath. “…Only from you.” Silence. But this time It felt different. Softer. Closer. And somewhere in that quiet, shared space Between awkward whispers and stolen warmth They finally drifted off to sleep. Too close. And maybe A little too comfortable.
