No Such Thing

Your parents will tell you, ‘There is no such thing as…..’ when you are young. And, as you grow up, you will believe them. You will tell your own children, ‘There is no such thing as …. ghosts, vampires, fairies, trolls, werewolves, Lycan… No such thing as the monster under the bed. No such thing as the dead that walk the streets at night. The fairies that fill the trees and flit across the waters when no one is looking. There is no such thing as the shadow that darts across the hallway making you think you’re seeing things and it’s really, nothing? Just your ‘imagination’? Your parents will tell you and you will hand this down, it’s your ‘imagination’. There is nothing there. You did not see the fairy, you did not see the vampire, you did not see the troll under the bridge in central park as you chased your ball down the hill. You didn’t see the red eyes, deep in the bushes looking back at you as you took the trash out after dark. No, nothing was at the side of the road as you drove by and watched it suddenly disappear. It was just your eyes playing tricks on you. You’re tired, etc... And gnomes. Don’t get me started on gnomes. People just use those as an excuse to explain missing socks and angry yard ornaments. Talking trees? I don’t think so! It is just folklore, stories passed down from a time long gone. When you see a circular arrangement of mushrooms near the creek. No, they aren’t really fairy spaces. The twisted and tangled web of trees and vines in the darkest part of the forest does NOT belong to The Witch of the Woods. And dragons! NO WAY! Please! Flying lizards? Nope. NEVER. Gargoyles, demons…. Not real? And wizards? That school of witchcraft and wizardry. Is FAKE. A book. More fantasy to feed into the imagination. Aliens? That is always a touchy subject. Don’t be ridiculous, there is NO SUCH THING as magic. There is no such thing as the unknown, the magical, the mythical or the mystical. No such thing. It’s NOT real. You are being ridiculous! Time to GROW UP! Reality check people! Can you imagine a creature that walks the night, hides in the shadows, lives off of blood and can fly? I mean, really? No SUCH Thing! Am I right!? Or, is there? Never seen one, so it has to be stories! No one knows! We do.
