Anna I woke up with a cold f**k me honestly Daniel is coming back I have to pick him up, I have to cook for him but all I want to do is sleep the things I'm doing to keep my mother happy and to get my inheritance are borderline insane but I promised my father, so here we go, I guess. Daniel is insane in my books but an easy target for a quick marriage five years and I'm out how did we get here dear diary it's a f*****g rollercoaster so buckle up I run my company I have my own money so why am I married well out of spite because my Because my mother would rather hand the family empire to Kelvin my i***t brother has a talent for destroying companies the way termites destroy wood. quietly and completely. Daniel is a typical bad boy, so when I allowed him to be my husband, he didn't have a choice but to say yes i put on anaward-winning performance. sold the part flawlessly. He truly believes I’m hopelessly in love. That I would wither without him. Pathetic. ooh look at the time its late lets shower so we can conquer this day after shower i need coffee to deal with today's nonsense. I drove like a maniac I couldn't keep Mr. Kingsley waiting by 15:45 I went to Kingsley's company I met with his assistant shes a little annoying but I have seen worse she directed me to his office Anna: hello Mr Kingsley Zain: Mrs Cole nice to meet you Anna: My name is Anna Hayes I would appreciate it if you call me by my name Zain: My apologies miss Hayes Anna: lets get back to business shall we the meeting took one hour and Mr.Kingsley was so professional after that whole debacle even though he couldn't help himself but throw little jabs about my marriage money is money I guess by 18:30 I got home took shower eat my takeout dinner and waited for my honorable husband drama I was scrolling on my page suddenly I got new message from Nicky saying this time she has a weapon against me I smiled cunningly shes stupid just like her mother they have one thing in common they never learn she was flaunting her diamond ring my bad her fake diamond ring that she got from her boyfriend, Daniel called me saying something came up he won't be coming home tonight see I told you easy target it allows me to work on my side project victor we are going home get the car ready I didn’t leave to meet Vera’s ex-boyfriend because I was angry. Anger is loud. Anger rushes ahead of itself. What I felt was quieter and far more dangerous. I locked my door carefully, the click of the deadbolt grounding me. I chose my coat, my shoes, the version of myself that made people listen instead of challenge. I’ve learned that pain lands harder when it’s delivered calmly. When the person across from you realizes you’re not there to argue you’re there to finish something. Vera tried not to cry when she told me about him. That was the worst part. She minimized. Softened. She wrapped her hurt in apologies she didn’t owe anyone. He wasn’t always like that,” she’d said the drive was short but silence mixed with anger. I found Max at the door. I told him to wait outside. I smiled at him the way you smile at a knife before it goes in wide, hopeful, stupid. Evans saw it and took it as permission.“b***h,” he said, like he was testing the word on his tongue, seeing how easily it fit. My body betrayed me before my mouth did. A sway. A dip of the shoulders. Weakness, performed so well it almost became real. I asked him why he did that to Vera. My voice was small, shaking, wrapped in the language of love. I talked about love that stays. Love that shields. Love that doesn’t leave bruises where no one can seeHe laughed. Then he snapped. “Shut up.” The words cracked like a whip. “I’m a man. I do whatever I want. You’re commodities. Things. I can break you whenever I feel like it. Something ruptured inside me. Not softly. Not cleanly. The room felt red then not with blood, not yet, but with pressure. Like my veins were screaming. Like every insult he’d ever thrown was circulating, hot and furious, begging for an exit. So I gave it to him. My hand moved before fear could stop it. Skin met skin with a sound so sharp it felt final. The slap split the air, split the moment, split whatever throne he thought he was sitting on. His head snapped to the side. A thin line of blood bloomed at the corner of his mouth, small, almost polite but it ruined him. He stared at me as I’d just rewritten the laws of gravity. Shock hollowed his face. Not pain. Not anger. Shock that I dared. That thing spoke back. That a commodity struck a king. My palm burned. My heart pounded like it wanted out of my chest. I tasted iron maybe from him, maybe from me, maybe from the rage that had finally learned how to bite. In that second, I wasn’t weak. I was dangerous. And he knew it. He looked at me as if I might bite. Good. I would have been insulted if that had been enough to stop me. Fear is only useful when it ripens into regret, and I was never the sort of woman who left things unfinished. I would make him remember the day he saw Vera as the beginning of his undoing the quiet day that later refused to stay quiet in his mind. He was the kind of man who called himself untamable, mistaking recklessness for strength. Men like that always imagine themselves as predators. They never consider how easily they bleed. I didn't want to break his body. That would have been crude. Temporary and forgettable.
