Bound by Moonlight and MagicChapter 4: Breaking the Chain

1181 Words
The room feels like it’s closing in around me, the weight of the Alpha’s gaze suffocating. I can feel his presence pressing against my every nerve, every pulse. His power is overwhelming, the raw animal magnetism in him clawing at my senses, urging me to give in. I want to run, to scream, to break free of this pull—but my body betrays me. I try to steady my breathing, trying to ignore the ache deep inside of me. It’s like the air itself has changed, thick with desire, with him. My mind is screaming at me to run, to not fall for this, for him. But my heart, my instincts—they’re pulling me toward him. “You don’t understand,” I whisper, my voice trembling as I look up at him, trying to fight the overwhelming lust that clouds my thoughts. “I can’t just give in to you. I don’t know what this bond really means. What it will do to me.” The Alpha’s jaw clenches, his eyes flashing with the wolf inside him, but there’s something else too—a deeper pain, something raw. He steps closer, his presence now a suffocating force, his scent so intoxicating that it’s hard to think. “You’re already mine,” he growls, his voice low, rough, like it’s a fact he’s trying to convince himself of. “It’s too late for you to fight it. The moment you walked into this room, you were already mine, whether you want it or not.” His words send a shiver through me, a wicked twinge of desire that makes my body ache. The pull between us is undeniable, stronger than anything I’ve ever felt. It’s magnetic, intoxicating, like it has a will of its own. And yet… I shake my head, the voice inside me screaming to resist. “I can’t,” I say, my voice barely a whisper. “I can’t let myself be claimed. Not like this.” But the Alpha doesn’t give me a chance to breathe. His hand reaches out, his fingers grazing my skin with a touch so light, so soft, that it almost makes me want to beg for more. The warmth from his hand spreads through me like wildfire, igniting a fire that has been smoldering just beneath the surface. “You don’t have a choice,” he says, his voice low and dark with intent. “The bond between us—it’s already sealed. The more you fight it, the harder it will be. The magic—the curse—it’s already entwined with you. With both of us.” The curse. Those words strike fear into my heart. It’s not just some bond, some fate. There’s something darker here, something dangerous. But what? I take a step back, my breath coming in quick gasps as I try to collect myself. My eyes flick to my sister, who is standing silently in the corner, watching us with a cold, unreadable expression. “I don’t care about your prophecy,” I say, my voice shaking with frustration. “I don’t care about whatever curse you’re talking about. I need answers.” But my sister doesn’t respond right away. She just watches me, her gaze piercing, as if she’s weighing my words. Finally, she steps forward, her voice low but filled with an unsettling certainty. “You already have the answers,” she says, her eyes flicking toward the Alpha. “But you’re not ready to hear them yet.” I swallow hard, trying to steady my racing heartbeat. The Alpha’s presence is overwhelming, suffocating, and it’s becoming harder to think clearly. I’m caught between the pull of his desire and my sister’s warning. Between wanting him and fearing what this bond will truly mean. “You’re afraid of the truth,” my sister continues, her voice a whisper in the growing tension. “Afraid of what you’ll have to do to survive this. To survive him.” “Stop,” I murmur, my head spinning. “I don’t want to know. I don’t want to be tied to this. I just want to understand what’s happening.” The Alpha’s eyes narrow, his hands flexing at his sides as if he’s struggling to hold onto his control. His wolf is close to the surface, too close. I can feel the raw energy crackling in the air, the tension thick with something primal, something dangerous. “You don’t have a choice,” he growls, stepping forward, closing the distance between us. “I told you already. You’re mine. The magic between us—this bond—it’s unbreakable. And it will only get stronger. Whether you like it or not.” His voice is low, a constant growl, and I can feel his heat radiating off of him. He’s barely an inch away now, his breath hot against my cheek, making my skin prickle with awareness. My body betrays me, aching for him despite my mind screaming at me to stay away. The Alpha reaches out, his hand sliding around my waist, pulling me closer to him, the contact sending a jolt of desire straight to my core. I freeze, every muscle in my body locking in place, as the heat between us escalates. “Don’t make me force you,” he murmurs, his voice dark, filled with a dangerous promise. “You can fight it. But it won’t matter. Eventually, you’ll want this. Want me.” I close my eyes, a shudder running through me as I fight the wave of desire crashing over me. But even as I struggle, I know he’s right. The connection between us, the bond, it’s becoming too much to deny. I want him. God, I want him—and the truth of it terrifies me more than anything. His lips brush against my ear, his voice soft but with an edge that makes my heart race. “You feel it too,” he whispers. “I can taste it on you. You don’t have to fight this. You don’t have to be afraid anymore. We’re bound, and we’re meant to be together.” His words cut through my resistance like a knife. No. I can’t let myself fall into this. Into him. But when his lips brush against my neck, soft and teasing, my body betrays me again, shivering with an intense need that makes it impossible to think straight. The Alpha steps back, his eyes scanning my face, reading me like an open book. The hunger in them is palpable, but so is something else—something darker. A promise. A threat. “Let me claim you,” he says, his voice a low growl, almost too soft. “You’ll never be the same. But I swear to you, it will be worth it.” I don’t know what to say, how to respond. The words are stuck in my throat, and all I can do is stand there, trembling, trying to find the strength to push him away. But deep inside, I know—I can’t.
