Bound by Moonlight and Magic Chapter 3: Secrets Unraveled

1244 Words
The words she spoke hang in the air, heavy and suffocating, like a storm waiting to burst. Something is coming. But what? And why is it connected to us? My mind races, trying to piece together the fragments of what little she’s told me, but the truth seems to slip through my fingers like smoke. Before I can speak, the Alpha’s growl reverberates through the room. The force behind it is like the growl of a predator, a beast on the edge of losing control. He steps toward my sister, his eyes narrowed with barely-contained fury. “You’re telling me nothing,” he snarls, his voice low and dangerous, his eyes glowing with the faintest trace of gold. “You come here, bring my mate into this mess, and you leave me with more questions than answers. What the hell is going on?” My sister doesn’t flinch. She meets his gaze with a calmness that borders on eerie, as if she’s seen this all before. She raises her hand slowly, as if to placate him, but the tension in the room only grows. “You won’t like the truth,” she murmurs. “None of us will. But it’s already here. You’ve felt it, haven’t you?” I glance between them, confusion clouding my thoughts. What truth? What is she talking about? I can feel the heat radiating off the Alpha, the wolf within him demanding answers. But the only thing I can focus on is the growing, almost unbearable pull between us. It’s like a magnet—powerful, demanding, consuming—and I can’t escape it. The Alpha’s eyes flicker to me, and for a brief moment, the raw intensity in his gaze cuts through me like a blade. There’s a hunger in his eyes, an animalistic need that makes my pulse spike. “You,” he growls, his voice rough with desire and frustration, “You feel it, don’t you? The connection.” I can’t breathe. The heat between us is suffocating, pulling me in, drowning me. His proximity makes everything sharper, more electric. I want to run, to escape, but my body betrays me. The pull is too strong. The bond we share is undeniable, and it’s beginning to crack open, revealing something darker, more dangerous than I ever imagined. Before I can answer, my sister takes a step back, as if sensing the rising tension. Her lips curl into a faint, knowing smile, but there’s no humor in it. Only regret. “It’s too late to turn back now,” she says quietly. “The prophecy has already started. The bond between you two—it’s not just a curse. It’s a doorway.” A doorway? My heart stutters, the confusion overwhelming me. What could that even mean? What are we opening? “I don’t understand,” I whisper, the words barely leaving my throat. “What do you mean a doorway?” Her eyes darken, and I see something flash behind them. Fear. Fear. My heart lurches in my chest as she steps forward again, closer to us. “The bond between you two,” she begins, her voice grave, “is the key. It’s not just a mating bond. It’s the thread that binds us all—the witches, the wolves, the magic itself. You two were chosen because you’re both crucial. Together, you will unlock something. But not just power. Something far worse.” My stomach turns, a cold sweat breaking out across my skin. I don’t know whether to run or to give into the heat that’s building in my chest. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I say, my voice shaking. “But I can’t—I can’t be with him. I can’t be with an Alpha.” The words fall out of my mouth before I can stop them, but they feel wrong, empty. As if they’re the words of someone else. Because deep down, I know I want him. I need him. The bond between us is becoming unbearable. It’s like my body is no longer my own. The Alpha steps closer, his hands reaching out to grip my wrists, his touch searing through my skin. His lips brush against my ear, his voice a whisper that sends a shiver of desire rushing through me. “You’re already mine.” I gasp as the words hit me like a physical blow, the heat flooding my body, burning through every rational thought. His hands trail up my arms, slow, deliberate, until they cradle my face, tilting it up to meet his gaze. His eyes are darker now, almost black with desire. The wolf within him is clawing to get free, and I can feel the edge of his control slipping. It’s like he’s battling something inside him, a primal hunger he’s trying to tame, but it’s slipping away. “You can fight it all you want,” he growls, his breath hot against my lips. “But you won’t win. You’re mine, and that’s all there is to it.” The intensity in his words makes my breath catch, and a rush of heat floods my core. God, I can’t think. I can’t breathe. The desire between us is overwhelming, and I don’t know how much longer I can fight it. But just as I think I’ll lose myself in him, my sister’s voice breaks through the haze of lust and confusion. “Don’t let him claim you yet.” The words hit me like a slap in the face, and I pull back from the Alpha, breathing heavily. My pulse is racing, my body trembling with desire and fear, but I force myself to focus. “What do you mean?” I ask, my voice hoarse. “What are you saying?” My sister steps back, her eyes wary, as if she’s watching a dangerous game unfold. “If you let him claim you now, the bond will become permanent,” she says quietly. “Once the mating is completed, there’s no going back. You’ll be his, and the prophecy will be set in motion. The world will change.” I can feel the weight of her words, the gravity of what she’s saying sinking in. The decision is mine. But how can I choose? How can I choose between the Alpha who is tied to me in a way I don’t understand, and my sister, who is warning me of something I don’t want to face? The Alpha growls low in his chest, a predatory sound, and his eyes never leave mine. “You feel it,” he says again, his voice low and irresistible. “You want me. You’ve always wanted me.” His words strike deep, igniting a fire that I can’t control. The heat in my core burns brighter, stronger, urging me to give in, to let him have me completely. But my sister is right. Once the bond is complete, there’s no turning back. I take a step back, breathing heavily, trying to gather my thoughts. “I—I can’t…” I stutter, but my words are drowned out by the intensity of the moment. “I need to understand more. I need answers.” The Alpha’s eyes darken with frustration, but he doesn’t move to stop me. He stands there, watching me, waiting for me to make my choice. And I know, deep down, that whatever I decide, it will change everything.
