Chapter 3

403 Words
February 1943 Dear Diary,  Today was interesting, nothing out of the ordinary but certainly interesting. I was walking home from school with Marcella and we stopped by our family's private island. It was given to my father from my grandpa and soon after I leave earth I will pass it to my children. It was the only part of the island that was clear and beautiful and not littered by trash. we both saw something on the other side of the island that caught our attention. there was a military boat anchored on shore and it didn't look like the German boats. "Marcella! Do you see that over there?" she turned towards to the direction in which I was pointing at.  "Whose is that? this is the first time I've seen it" Marcella and I decided to get a closer look. Who we saw on the other side of the beach was no German soldier. This was another nationality that I've only heard about. The soldiers were unloading things off the boat and I heard the bell from the capital. The bell only goes off when there is a war going on. Marcella looked scared and we decided to leave the island. We were close to the gate when I heard a gunshot. it was loud and I was wondering what had happened. "Hurry Marcella we must hurry!" I was about two steps away from the gate when I turned around and didn't see Marcella behind me. Then that's when I saw a figure on the ground and noticed that it was Marcella. She got shot and I could hear the soldiers getting closer. I wasn't going to just leave her. I ran towards Marcella and she was on the floor still conscious. "MARCELLA! Hold on hang in there. don't leave" I watched Marcella trying to gasp for breath. As I helplessly watch my best friend die in front of my eyes. The soldiers were already surrounding me. "Get her" Ordered one of the soldiers and I was forcibly taken from my friend and dragged away to one of their tents where ill assume they'll put their prisoners and refugees. As I tried to fight myself out of their grip I immediately knew that I was going to be their first prisoner and refugee. Maybe even worse. I dare not say. Hope my father will find me on time before its too late.
