Echoes of the Past

482 Words
When can it be said that we have found our soul mate? When can it be said that the love we feel is real? And when can we say that, until the end of our lives, he is still the one in our heart and mind? Let us witness the love of two people who were captive to their past and tested by fate to prove that their love is everlasting. Enrique Jose and Ana Liza's love story began when their eyes met. They immediately felt a strange sensation for each other—"LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT" as many calls it---but they did not know that something from the past would emerge to test their growing love. Enrique Jose is an Espinoy (Español-Pinoy), of Spanish and Filipino descent. He grew up in the town of Batangas in the Philippines, so he is well-acquainted with Filipino life, culture, and traditions. He is tall, fair-skinned, and handsome. Although Spanish by race, his behavior is very Pinoy—humble, considerate, hardworking, kind, and loving. His father was a Spanish soldier, and his mother was a Filipina housewife. A little bit of history about Enrique Jose: It was a time of war in the Philippines against Spain when Enrique's mother was pregnant. The day before the war, Johnny Erick promised his wife that she would give birth in his country (Spain), but that promise ended when the leader of the Filipino soldiers suddenly killed her husband. She didn't expect that to happen, so she had no choice but to stay in the Philippines and give birth to the child she was carrying. After the war, when the baby was born, she couldn't endure the pain of losing her husband and died shortly after childbirth. The midwife, unable to care for the child due to her own difficult circumstances, took him to an orphanage, hoping for a better life for the baby. From infancy, Enrique was adopted by a couple who were childless. Fortuitously, the man was the brother of Enrique’s late father and also Spanish, while the woman was a Filipina relative of his late mother. They named him Enrique Jose Lenon Jr. in memory of his father. A little bit of history about Ana Liza: Ana Liza grew up in the town of Batangas, Philippines. She has pure Filipina blood, which her parents are proud of due to her angelic beauty. Besides that, she has many good qualities and only a few bad ones. Her mother remarried after losing her life partner, who was a leader of the Filipino Army. Despite Ana Liza being the fruit of that marriage and love, her mother found a new lover—her deceased husband's own brother. Ana Liza's parents deeply hated the Spaniards because of what they did to her father and brother. Enrique and Ana Liza did not anticipate the many obstacles that would challenge their love.
