As Ella walked through the opulent entrance hall, she noticed a familiar face. It was Miss Mary, the maid who had been there when Ella regained consciousness after her a*******n. Miss Mary's eyes widened in surprise when she saw Ella. Little did she know that Miss Mary was also in for a surprise, as Ella turned out to be a friend of her niece, Claire. "Hello?" Miss Mary exclaimed, her eyes widening in recognition. "Are you Claire's friend?" Ella's eyes lit up. "Yes, Miss Mary," she replied, a smile spreading across her face. "It's so nice to see you again." "It's wonderful to see you too, Ella," Miss Mary said, warmly. "Please, come in." Ella hesitated for a moment before explaining that she was there for the maid job interview. Miss Mary seemed taken aback, but she quickly recovered and ushered Ella into a sitting room. "I can't believe it's you," Miss Mary said, still sounding surprised. "I remember when you were here before. You were so scared and confused." Ella nodded, a wave of sadness washing over her. "I was," she admitted. "But I'm better now." As they sat down, Miss Mary began to ask Ella questions about her experience and qualifications. Ella answered as best she could, but her mind kept wandering back to the night of her a*******n. She couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. She informed him "Sir," she said respectfully, "I interviewed a young lady today for the vacant maid position. She seems quite capable and has impressive credentials." Easton, known for his decisive nature, responded without hesitation, "If she's good, hire her. I trust your judgment, Miss Mary." Miss Mary, grateful for Easton's trust, replied, "Thank you, sir. I'll proceed with the necessary arrangements." Easton, engrossed in his thoughts, didn't bother to examine the credentials of the prospective maid. He had utmost faith in Miss Mary's ability to make sound hiring decisions. As Miss Mary excused herself to carry out his instructions, He had no doubt that she had made the right choice. Miss Mary handed Ella a maid's uniform and took her to the servant's quarters. The servant's quarters were located in the basement of the mansion. It was a simple but comfortable space, with a communal kitchen, dining area, and bedrooms. Miss Mary showed Ella to her room, a small but cozy space with a bed, a wardrobe, and a dressing table. Miss Mary explained to Ella that she was free to stay at the mansion if she didn't want to go home or if she worked late. Ella gratefully accepted the offer, knowing that it would save her time and money on transportation. With that, Ella began her first day of work as a maid at Eaton Mansion. However, Ella insisted on staying to finish her tasks. While they were cooking, Ella heard the screech of tires outside. Eaton, the mansion's owner, had arrived back from work. Ella couldn't resist peeking through the window to catch a glimpse of him. She saw Eaton stepping out of his Rolls Royce, his handsome face illuminated by the evening light. After helping Miss Mary with the cooking, Ella decided to leave the mansion without being noticed. She slipped out quietly, eager to return home, She wanted to avoid any interaction with Eaton As she left the mansion that evening, Ella took a deep breath of fresh air. She had survived her first day, and she was one step closer to achieving her goal of financial independence. She knew that she would face challenges along the way, but she was determined to overcome them.
