Sarah’s POV
I stared at my wristwatch, "Maria, aren't we there yet?"
"I'm sorry, Not yet. Just hang on a little bit longer my lady.”
I sighed and tilted back in my seat in the white Benz.
My eyebrows creased and i grasped my fists as the past got me more devastated and all of a sudden i felt out of air. I looked out the window and the cold air tousled my hair roughly, making me feel a little bit better.
We had just got off the plane to Rome an hour ago and we had been driving ever since, but in my opinion, that was too long.
Maria was cajoling me in being patient claiming we were close. But i knew i wouldn't be able to be so patient.
Maria exhaled as the driver took a turn. She began typing on her phone.
Perhaps our destination was very close?
"Are we there yet?” Just as i asked, The driver pulled over in front of an elegant gate.
"Yes, We're here my lady."
I immediately pushed the door open the moment he halted at the front of the gate.
I wondered what they laid behind the gate. All i could see was a glimpse of a light blue roof beyond the gate.
Maria traded words with the driver in Italian and collected the car keys. The driver curled into a bow and then left.
"Where is he running off to? What did he say to you?" I asked Maria as she began to unlock the gigantic lock which bound the gate.
"Nothing much, He was telling how the house had been stocked up with the food and stuff you'll need to stay for a couple of weeks."
Minding my steps, I stepped into the gate after Maria had unlocked it. My eyes squinted as I was astonished by the design of the house. It had a credible linger of medieval on the awning and walls of the house.
Maria opened the entrance to the house, unlocking it with its key, I stepped in. The designs were all modern and that was surprising. The floors were marbled and a black sculpture sat by the top corner of the sideboard. The walls had white-colored paintings which gave the house a more aesthetic appeal.
A pleasing aesthetic view, I guessed was what the actual owner of the house was opting for. It also counted as the perfect hideout because judging from the outside of the house, it seemed older and looked abandoned than it was.
Maria and i freshened up and relaxed but it was only when i had laid on my bed that i realized that i could not 'relax’ so i opted to watch a movie instead.
It was a horror movie. Unfortunately, the main character survived a plane crash just like me but died at the end due to undiscovered internal bleeding. Every scene of the crash in the movie seemed relatable to me. The movie instilled a fear of death in me. Making me feel like it would come for me later on.
I quickly turned off the TV and went into my room's closet. I picked out a seductive red gown which i had bought before the crash.
I picked up my glittering lipgloss and applied it gently on my lips.
"My lady…." Maria whispered lousily to my tap.
"Come on! Wake up, let’s go clubbing."
"What!? Clubbing? At a club? Why…"
I grabbed the tip of Maria’s ear until it turned red and she was screaming for me to let go.
I sighed in disgust feeling a slight itch on my skin. I let go of her ear.
"What else? To find me a husband, of course! We don't have time to be sleeping like bats! You should know that already." I yelled, and turned away, my hips swaying as i stormed out of her bedroom.
I understood well that i wouldn't be able to relax at all. So instead of sitting around passing out time to waste, I may as well proceed to carry on the mission Edward assigned me to do here in Italy. I had to do something different and fun to get my adrenaline all pumped up.
Only that way would I feel more about myself and my existence.
I drifted to the living room, grabbing a hold of the file that Edward had given me before. I flipped it wide open, A picture suddenly popped up.
"Maria, Did Edward say anything about that other guy?"
I was in the car with Maria in the driver's seat, firmly navigating the steering. Right in front of us was a classy club with a 'b***h’ label not quite far from it.
"Here we are my lady. This is the place Franklin Star frequents almost every night."
A smile proceeded along my lips and a feeling of supremacy crossed through me as i inhaled the scent of my forthcoming victory. I smiled as though i had won a jackpot,
"Very good, Then there's no time to delay,"
I opened the door of the car, Maria interrupted, "My lady, I have a bad feeling about this.”
“Why?” I said, cursing.
“I'm just worried he'll be a cheater. Frequenting a club like this one almost every night should be a red flag."
"That's your opinion. But mine is as long as he would help me achieve my purposes, Then I don't f*****g care what he does."
I opened the car door wider and stepped out despite Maria’s fervent protests.
While Maria was parking the car, I went to the club's security who immediately insisted that i bring an invitation card. They had an air of hostility about them which i knew i couldn't win them over with just a smile.
However, when i came across a tall, huge, fit man dressed in a nice red suit. He walked in front of me, holding firmly an invitation card between his index fingers.
I unlocked my inner w***e as i instantly closed the distance between us, placing my arm around his shoulder.
The soft scent of Vodka and ice filled my nostrils but I ignored it and spoke to the bouncers with a fake smile plastered on my cheeks. "Hey, I'm with him!"
An instant silence fell upon us. I felt him step away from me causing my arm to lower to my side.
"Please, She is not," Just that simple phrase he said, had me feeling like crap.
Never have I ever been that embarrassed in life.
In my twenty-five years of living on earth i have never been rejected by anyone before.
He was around and I caught a glimpse of his face, I immediately understood the reason behind his rejection.
