Episode one
Sarah’s POV I felt blood drip out of his mouth and dripped profusely onto my gown due to the glass piercing into his heart through his back, The words he had told me earlier resounded in my brain as i held onto him in tears. “Everyone strives for power and affluence, but they fail to recognize this simple truth.” He said to me. I looked at him perplexed “Wisdom is power, Sarah. you know that right?” He questioned gently. I glanced at him and beamed, Dad had a few grey hairs mixed with the dark ones. It was balding in the middle of his head but that didn't cease him from thinking intensely and uttering wise phrases out of nowhere. “Certainly father.” I moved my eyes, “You agree with me, that sentence has been hurled around, right?” I nodded slowly. “My lovely girl, That is the problem. People underrate its value just because the phrase is popular and that is exactly what makes them miss out.” His lips paled due to the amount of blood which he was losing. He settled his gape upon me, distinction fierce in his gaze. As the plane came crashing down on the cliff, I felt his clasp around my body tighten while i shut my eyes as gravity pull took its course. I held back a scream, I was quavering and couldn't encompass my scream any longer as we were trashed around by the plane in the middle of nowhere. The speed of the plane became faster as it made its way down to the side of the cliff before tossing us down to the ground. The plane crashed at once, but my father’s tight grip on my body remained firm, even as we were thrown to a bulky tree inside the woods. For an instant, everything went black and the only thing that surrounded my senses was the smell of blood. **** Gradually, I got my eyesight senses and iI woke up, I was aware of the body that was stiff on top of mine, and also especially the large amount of blood that had oozed out of the body and absorbed my shirt. “Father,” I murmured, understanding that he was already dead. I felt his hands. They were cold against my body, making me slightly shiver. His eyes…always lively, filled with light and joy is currently hollow. The front was still in place. In the pilot's seat, I could see the pilot’s neck dangling out the broken part. I got terrified by the sight of it and it made me take a glare down at my body to be sure if any part of me was detached or broken but luckily for me, there was none. Apart from my leg and arms being sore, my body ached a little bit but i was well. All thanks to my father for protecting me. It all looked like some kind of dream. I had this survival instinct that hit me to break loose and i carefully loosened my father’s tight clasp on me and somehow crawled out through the shattered glass window. Hastily inhaling fresh air, my lungs did and my body ached for relaxation. But my mind was frantic, even as I lay on the wet grass and stared at the sky, My thoughts brought a reflection of the point that got us here. I'd been eating my favorite chips in my bedroom when my father suddenly barged in and told me to join him for a quick morning walk. I'd felt it was his normal call for the excursion so hurriedly, I put on a simple tee shirt and a pair of blue vibrant pants. I joined him for his affairs only to get there and find out that my father conned me to go with him to a summit which was piled up with people of various high caliber, including media personnel. I didn't see it as a big deal, because my father always took me along almost everywhere. But then, he made an unexpected statement that shook the industry and hurled me off my normal state. He announced i, Sarah Bush as the heir to everything he owned publicly. When we left the summit room, I was quick to ask, so i asked him why he did that because I knew my relatives had been mumbling bitterly about gaining his inheritance for a long time. But to my utmost dismay, I was chosen instead. My question seemed to have fallen on deaf ears, father kept me silent. He had given me a brown file and asked me to keep and guard it with all I had and to study it at the right time. Well then, I guess the right time is now. Who would have thought that it would happen so soon? I desperately reached for the file which seemed to be a little bit close to the fire which had just begun. I quickly got my hands on the file, feeding my eyes and studying its content. However, things only got alarming the more I flipped through the pages. I fell on my feet, dazzled by the content of the documents. My uncle who happens to be my mother’s elder brother, married my mother out for his affluence but when my father refused to give it to him, he developed hatred for him. Currently, it was under work that my late mother’s landed properties were also transferred to him. At that time, I was irresponsible. As an 18-year-old, I had gone to a nightclub. My uncle had paid someone i thought was my friend to mix stuff into my drink, I wasn't r***d or harmed that night. But i drove back home drunk. How i was able to drive myself back home, remained a mystery. I quickly flipped the file down to its last page. There was a profile of a young man who seemed quite wealthy. The photo appears blurry, in the black and white theme so i couldn't see it. A name was attached to the photo. Adam Maxwell, 31 years old. with the zodiac sign Capricorn. From the information on the file, he was the owner and co-owner of many successful companies in the world. I didn't know why his profile was in the file. I closed it because it was unimportant to me right now. The truth about the man i respected so much was much more astonishing. I didn't have any doubt that he might be responsible for the plane crash that happened. My father always made sure everything was in place before he boarded on any medium for transportation. I could still recall vividly the faint scream of the pilot. But I wasn't sure what it was about. It would be a failure. I was announced as the heir to my father’s multi-million dollar company and i’m sure some people weren't happy about it. No matter who was at the bottom of this, I wouldn't let it go. Especially not my ‘so-called’ uncle.. From the upside-down parts of the plane, I was able to reach my father's phone from his pocket. The screen and back glass of the phone were badly damaged. I went through the contact list and called my father’s most trusted aide, Edward. I told him what happened and without wasting much time, he had come to my rescue by tracing the location of the phone down to the woods in another country. Laying on the wet grass, I got soaked with the thought of being the only survivor of such a drastic plane crash.
