Chapter Seventeen
For a few seconds Meikah remained frozen, stunned by Danton’s abilities. It took a couple more seconds to remember that Strike was the name he’d given her. She raced forward, attacking two spirits that Danton had been backing away from. A third one joined the attack, surrounding her. She didn’t have time to check how Kellan was doing, she was too busy defending herself.
Rafe rushed out of the shadows, a dagger in each hand, flames engulfing the blades. He attacked one of the spirits surrounding Meikah. “Why didn’t you attack them first? Why wait so long?”
She didn’t have the breath to answer. The spirits kept her busy blocking each of their attacks. A spirit shattering caused light to fill the area and she half closed her eyes at the brightness.
