Chapter 6: My Father's Visit

1331 Words
A month has passed since the Marking Ceremony and it has been a rollercoaster, to say the least. Xavier has shown little knowledge of my presence since then, as he is typically locked in his office. When he does leave, he ignores me. Except when we go to bed, as obviously we share that. At night, we typically fall asleep on opposite sides, but by the morning his arms are wrapped around my waist.  It was currently 9 a.m. and I was about to leave the bedroom for the first time. Before, I looked at my nightstand table and smiled at the picture of my mother that I had set there. When I originally placed it there, Xavier was confused by it. He thought that the pregnant lady was me, as the resemblance between my mother and I is so uncanny. But, I had to explain to him that it was my mother and how she died giving birth to me. You see, as a werewolf there are certain... Rules that we have to follow that the Moon Goddess has set. The main one was that a wolf can not be impregnated by anyone other than their mate. My mother and father disregarded that rule when my father and she met a few months before the mating ceremony in a neighboring pack. They knew they were not mates, but slept together. After all, until my mother most believed the repercussions to be a myth.  When a werewolf conceives from someone other than their mate, they will typically be more ill during their pregnancy and the outcome is one of two things. Either, the child will be born with many defects and die at a young age or, as in the case of my mother, the mother will give birth to a healthy child and die at birth.  So, when 8 months pregnant with me, my mother ran away from her father and ran to mine. She believed that I belonged with him if the second outcome were to be true. Sadly, this decision was the worst one she could have made. Though she couldn't have seen my years of torment coming, so I don't blame her. She did what she thought was best for me. I never knew much about my mother, as my father refused to tell me. But, he allowed me a single picture and her necklace. The necklace I wore every day. It was white gold with a purple stone pendant.  I sighed softly and wiped the single tear that left my eye away before turning around and walking towards the door. Slowly, I made my way down to the first floor and saw Leigh and Harvey arguing, per usual. A smile found its way onto my lips as I watched their petty disagreement. How I always wished my siblings and I could be normal like this.  After a moment, Leigh looked in my direction and her face lit up, "Aliya!" She greeted. "Morning, Leigh," I said, forcing myself to smile wider at her. "There is breakfast waiting for you in the kitchen, but after you have to get ready to go to a meeting with Xavier," She explained. "Yeah, your father and the Eclipse Pack Alpha are coming," Harvey added on, expecting me to be happy about the news of seeing my father. Instead, my smile flattened and I could feel the color draining out of it. "M-my father?" I asked. "Yep," chirped Leigh, not noticing the change in my mood, "are you excited to see him?" "Definitely," I lied through my teeth. Oh, this was going to be interesting.  I took my time while eating, trying to delay the inevitable. Seeing my father. Once my plate was empty and I knew I could not stall any longer, I stood up and walked up to the top floor and into Xavier and my bedroom.  Once in there, I grabbed a nice shirt that I got during my shopping trip with Edric. The shirt was a baby blue color with long sleeves. The front of the shirt buttoned up as well. It was a thin shirt, so  I also grabbed a white tank top to wear underneath so my bra did not show through. Along with it, I grabbed a pair of black jeans. Knowing that Xavier would not walk in, I decided to change in the bedroom so I could see myself in the large mirror that was placed to the right of our bed.  I slowly stripped off my clothes until I was in my bra and underwear. I then examined my body in the mirror, looking at the many scars that were littered around it. Some of my worst ones, though, were on my back where my father used a silver dagger that he brought home from work. He used it around a lot of my body, but the deepest cuts were there. As I was about to put on my clothes, the door opened and I froze where I stood. In the reflection of the mirror, I could see Xavier walking in and stopped when he saw my half-naked form. A growl left his lips as I tried to hide as much of my body with some clothes draped in my arms. I quickly turned around and looked up at his tall figure. "Move your arms," He growled again, looking down at me. He looked angry, and a bit sad? I slowly dropped my arms and the clothing that I held. He looked at my body as if studying it for a moment and taking in each and every detail. Before I could realize what was happening, his fingers were tracing some of my scars. "Who did this to you," He growled again. I did not speak, but instead, I crumpled to the floor and started to sob. I could not speak, the images of what my father did to me swarmed my mind and caused more pain. Xavier crouched down next to me and lifted my face so I was looking at him. He brushed away my tears gently and repeated, "Who did this to you?" I tried to speak between sobs, but nothing would come out. "Was it your father?" Xavier then asked, a look of realization coming onto his face. I couldn't stop myself from nodding my head. "That bastard is going to pay," he growled before doing something he has never done before. He hugged me and held me in his arms until I stopped crying. Once the tears stopped, Xavier looked down at me and stood up, carrying me in a bridal style. He walked me to my closet and sat me down the fabric ottoman in the center.  "We are going to show your father that I know about what he did to you. I will make him fear what is to come." Xavier was mumbling under his breath as he walked around my closet before pulling out a light green sundress. I don't know why I bought such revealing clothes, honestly, but I did. Not like sexually revealing, obviously, but skin revealing. He handed me it and waited for me to put it on. I did, not wishing to question his orders. Then, I pulled my mother's necklace out from underneath the material and let it lay between my breasts.  "Beautiful," Xavier told me, and the heat of his body told me he was standing right behind me.  His arms snaked around my waist and I was shocked. This was the most attention he has given to me since the Mating Ball. He placed a kiss on the top of my head before letting go and I turned to face him. "They will be arriving soon. We must meet them outside, but I do not intend for them to enter the house," he explained to me, "until farther notice, the peace treaty they wish to enact is out of the question." I just nodded my head before I felt my feet leave the floor once more. I gasped as Xavier carried me down the stairs and out the front door. Just as we left the building, I saw a familiar car pull up.  My father was here.
