Chapter 7: The Peace Treaty

1095 Words
Xavier set me down and wrapped a protective arm around my waist as the car pulled up. Once parked, my father and Alpha Ramos stepped out. They both walked over to use, the Alpha looking cheery and my father looking, well, like my father. He had a frown on his face as he looked at me. I assumed he never expected me to be mated to such a powerful wolf, but here I am, with the arm of Alpha Xavier Fortescue wrapped tightly around my waist. "Alpha Fortescue," Alpha Ramos greeted my mate, holding out his hand to shake.  Xavier did not even acknowledge it as he sent a death glare at my father. He slowly looked back at Alpha Ramos as his hand fell and gave him a nod. "I am sure the messages have got to you well, so you know what this meeting is about?" Alpha Ramos asked, acting as though the rejected handshake did not happen. "I did," Xavier said in a deep but strangely calm voice. "Perfect," Alpha Ramos said with a large grin once again, "may we go in and talk about it, then?" Xavier's eyes shot to my father, who was looking blankly at the arm around my waist and the scars that were obvious and showing. "I do not think that idea is wise, Ramos," Xavier said, "you see, I do not wish for my mate to be in such close courters with the man who abused her for years." My father froze and looked straight at Xavier. "W-what do you mean?" Alpha Ramos said, looking between me, Xavier, and my father in shock. Then, his arms fell on the scars that littered my visible arms.  "Just recently, I found out about the poor treatment my mate suffered under the care of your Beta, so I do not see farther discussion about a peace treaty necessary." My father looked enraged and looked at me, "You b***h!" He yelled at me, and Xavier pulled me closer to him in a protective manner, "how dare you spread lies about my care!"  "Nosh! Enough," Alpha Ramos said to my father in his Alpha voice and my father immediately stopped talking. Alpha Ramos then turned back to Xavier, "I did not know of this maltreatment," he tried to explain, "If I had, I would have done this long ago." Alpha Ramos looked at my father, "I strip you of your role of Beta of the Eclipse Pack." I gasped as I saw my father stare at his Alpha in shock, "Y-you can't do that!" He growled, "You will never find a Beta more loyal." Alpha Ramos shook his head and said, "I expected better from you, Nosh, but you have made me look like an i***t for too long. No one in your family will bear the title of Beta again." My father looked defeated and stared at me with a glare.  "Now, you will go and stay in the car until I am finished talking with Alpha Fortescue," Alpha Ramos used his alpha voice once again. My father walked to the car and sat in the driver's seat, looking like a child who was put in timeout.  "Now, I hope my decision here may change your decision on the peace treaty." After a few hours of sitting with Xavier and Alpha Ramos in Xavier's office, listening to them discuss peace treaty options, Alpha Ramos was finally on his way. Both him and Xavier were happy with the outcome, which was a good sign. A peace treaty was made, but Xavier's only condition was that my father was to be demoted to the position that he forced upon me for so long, an unranked wolf. I was amazed to see how much my mate had actually cared about me throughout the day, as he did everything in his power to keep me safe.  After the meeting, Xavier and I sat down to dinner that was made by one of the Omega's of his pack that he paid to do so. Yes, paid. He actually treated his pack quite well and ensured they were all comfortable and that everyone was paid for their hard work and dedication to the Blood Moon Pack. It was something that I admired. Our dinner was simple but delicious, spaghetti and meatballs. It was one of my favorite foods. During dinner, we ate in silence but, it did not bother me as it was comfortable.  But after dinner, when we went up to our room the conversation began. "Why didn't you tell me about your father before today?" Xavier asked, his voice was soft for once. "I-I didn't know how to bring it up," I mumbled, looking down. "How about you explain to me why he did such terrible things to you?" "It's a long story." "We have time," Xavier told me, pulling me onto his lap as he sat on the couch. "Well..." I looked down, taking a deep breath before beginning, "my father never quite understood the point of waiting for his mate," I said. "He decided he would rather f**k as many wolves as he could before he had to settle down. But you know the legend, I'm sure." "About what happens when two unmated wolves have a child?" Xavier asked me, "I do know of it." "Well, after my mother and father met, I was conceived. I was the child of two unmated wolves," tears filled my eyes and I blinked them back, "but my father left my mother. He went home to his pack and forgot about her, until she showed up eight months later, pregnant with me. By that time, my father had found his actual mate, my step-mother. They were expecting their first child in just a few months, so my mother's random appearance was not appreciated. But, my father allowed her to stay until I was born. Obviously, I was not one of the pups born with defects, so my mother passed away and I was stuck with my father. "Ever since then, my father punished me for his mistakes. He hated the fact that he was stuck with me, his bastard child," I couple tears left my eyes and Xavier rubbed my arm's soothingly, "I never knew my mother, or where she came from. I suspected she was from a faraway pack, though. But I never know where, to who she really was. All I know is that we look so similar and that her name was Adela." I finished. Xavier turned my head to look at him, "I will never let him hurt you again," he said in a stern but comforting voice.  His words comforted me and I laid my head on his chest, allowing him to hold me tight.
