Today is the day, its the Mating Ball. The first chance I get at leaving this pack for good. I stood in my room and packed my small suitcase. You see, every female must pack a suitcase and bring it to the ball. This is so their mate can take them to their new home right after.
Once I packed my clothes, I placed my mother's picture on top of the rest of my clothes. I smiled lightly before standing straight and looking into the mirror within my room. I wore the dress that my stepmother, Caries, gave me. I couldn't help but be shocked at how well it fit. It was a full-lengthed dress that hugged the top-half of my body and then flowed freely. The sleeves were a beautiful lace.
I also had put on some light makeup. My foundation covered the scars on my face, and luckily all of my bruises have faded away. I made my eyes stand out a bit more with some dark eyeliner and mascara. I allowed most of my hair to flow freely in waves down my back, but I pulled the from strands into braids that connected at the back of my head.
I actually felt pretty.
I looked at the time, 5:30 pm. The ball starts at 6 pm sharp. Thankfully, it was being held by my pack this year, the Eclipse pack.
"Hurry up, b***h!" My father yelled at me.
I sighed softly and grabbed my suitcase before slowly walking down the stairs, careful not to trip. I looked around the living room once more and saw my youngest brothers, Dyami and Dyani, the twins, sitting with their mother.
"I hope we never see you again," Caries stated and both of my brothers nodded their heads.
I lowered my gaze and walked out of the house where my father waited with Chayton. Chayton was about three months younger than me, so this would also be his first mating ball.
"Get in." My father said simply.
I did not say a word as I got into the back of his black BMW.
After a 20 minute drive, we finally made it to the pack house, where the ball was being held. My father wished my brother luck before looking back at me. "I hope I never see you again."
I nodded my head and looked down as I slowly exited the car. As I did, I pulled my suitcase with me. At the door stood a few workers. I walked up to one who smiled kindly at me.
"Name?" He asked.
"Aliya Menashi," I stated and watched as he checked my name off of a list. He then took my suitcase from me and put a tag on it.
"Good luck," He told me.
I smiled kindly at him before walking to the doorway. I took a deep breath before entering. I followed the crowd of people as they made their way to the large ballroom. Inside, I saw hundreds of wolfs. Many of them were talking to friends and a few I assumed were lucky enough to have already found their mate. I bit my lower lip as my nerves flared up and my heart started racing.
Calm down I thought to myself. I took another deep breath before walking farther into the room. I weived between people and walked deeper into the crowd. As I did, a strong scent made its way to my nose.
Mate! My wolf chirped happily in my head. I gasped and looked around. I did not see him in my general location, so I decided to follow the smell.
As I walked towards the smell, I started to recognize what the scent was. It was pine. I just kept walking forward, hoping to find him soon. I needed to find him.
As I continued to walk, something suddenly hooked itself around my ankle and caused me to fall to my hands and knees on the ground. I gasped as I did before looking behind me to see who tripped me. As I did, I saw five boys laughing and high-fiving each other. Instantly I recognized the group. My bother, Chayton, the future Alpha, Dell, and their friends: Foster, Nickson, and Maverick. Instantly, I realized Maverick was the one who tripped me.
I looked down at my hands as I was about to push myself back up. Before I could, though, the scent of pine became stronger yet. The scent went right past me with a small breeze. I slowly looked back at the group of boys and became shocked at what I saw.
A man with dark brown hair now held Maverick up by his shirt. I knew the man just have said something, but I could not make out what it was. Soon after, he punched Maverick right in the nose, causing a loud crack to be heard. I gasped and watched the man throw him at the group as if he weighed nothing.
A second later, the man turned back towards me and knelt down next to me as he wiped his now bloody hand on his pants. He looked straight into my eyes and I felt my heart flutter and my wolf go crazy inside of my head.
"Mate," we both said at the same time.
I did not know if I was more scared or excited to have found my mate. I was excited because, well, it is my mate. But, I was scared due to the fact I just watched him hurt another without a hint of remorse.
I was about to say something as he picked me up off of the floor. He adjusted me so he was carrying me bridal style before walking towards the exit of the room.
At the door I entered, he stopped and looked at the worker I gave my suitcase to earlier.
The man saw me and did not even ask my name before going into the room where the suitcases were stored and grabbed mine. He handed it to my mate, "here you go, Alpha Xavier," He said to my mate.
Alpha? My mate is an Alpha?!
