Chapter 3: My Mate... And His Family?

1395 Words
I was in shock. How could I, the unranked and abused wolf of the Eclipse Pack, be mated to an Alpha? I swear, the Mood Goddess has an interesting sense of irony.  Alpha Xavier is what the worker called him. Why does that name seem to ring a bell? I raked my mind to figure out what pack Alpha Xavier was from. You see, I was never good at remembering the names of all of the Alphas of different packs, or all of the different packs to begin with. So, if I remember Alpha Xavier, it must mean... Shit. Alpha Xavier of the Blood Moon Pack. Alpha Xavier is known for being the most ruthless alpha of the time...  I closed my eyes in fear as Alpha Xavier readjusted me so he could carry me with a single arm and grab my suitcase at the same time. He didn't even thank the worker before beginning to walk again. I slowly opened my eyes to see where we were going. Ahead of us sat black SUV with dark tinted windows. Outside stood a man who looked to be in his early to mid-twenties. You could not call this man ugly, either. He had dark brown eyes, a natural tan skin tone, and golden blonde hair that was a bit unruly, but the slightly messy hair worked for him. "You know, you did not need to yell through the mind-link, Xavier," The man laughed, "I would have gotten the car even if you whispered the request."  I was shocked at how easily the man spoke to the Alpha. He must be a friend? Perhaps the Beta? Alpha Xavier did not respond as he let go of my suitcase. The man, seeming unfazed by his behavior, instantly opened the back door of the large vehicle.  I was set into the seat and Alpha Xavier leaned over me to buckle me in. "I-I could do that myself," I stumbled over my words, trying to look less worthless. Alpha Xavier just growled and ensured I was strapped in before shutting the door. For a moment, I sat in the car alone as the two large talked outside.  I let out a shaky breath and looked down at my hands. I watched them shake as I did. I just closed my eyes and leaned my head back on the seat. I tried to think calming thoughts, but my mind kept drifting back to Alpha Xavier, my mate. My mind flashed to how he picked Maverick up as though he was nothing and just broke his nose. I knew he could have done worse. Perhaps he was holding back? My thoughts were cut short as the passenger door opened and Alpha Xavier slid into the seat. He didn't even glance back at me once. I jumped slightly as I heard the back door close, and I assumed that the other man put my suitcase in the back. My heart was racing again. I was leaving my pack. At least I won't have to see my father again... Right? But, I was unsure if Alpha Xavier would be much better. He seemed to have a short fuse, something I prayed that my mate would not have.  The driver's door opened as the blonde-haired man got in. Soon after, the car started and we were off. At some point, I must have fallen asleep. I was suddenly awakened as the car hit a pothole. A gasp left my lips and soon after, Alpha Xavier's eyes met mine.  "I see you woke up," He plainly said in his deep voice that sent shivers down my spine. I bit my lip and nodded my head. I could not bring myself to speak. I was still terrified and nervous. A second voice spoke up, and I realized it was the blonde-haired man. "We will be at the mansion in about ten minutes," He stated.  I saw his eyes looking back at me in the rearview mirror. I knew that both of the men could see my nervousness and fear. But they did not say anything about it.  The man was true to his words as ten minutes later we pulled up to a giant house. Well, mansion. It was made from brick and looked to be at least three stories tall. This is where I will be living? I guess I should not be surprised, after all, I am the Alpha's Mate. After we parked, Alpha Xavier got out and opened my door. Before he could, I unbuckled myself. I tried to get out on my own, but obviously he had another plan. He picked me up bridal style once again and I gasped. I heard my wolf cheering and yipping inside of my head once again due to the close contact, but I felt the opposite way. "I-I can walk, you know..." I said with a stutter without thinking. Xavier, once again, just growled as a response. He seemed annoyed with me already. Well maybe if you weren't such an unthankful mate, my wolf yelled at me inside of my head, you have only known him for a few hours! And here you are, being ungrateful. I knew my wolf was not trying to make me feel bad, but my stomach dropped. Was I really being ungrateful? I was happy to have a mate, don't get my wrong. I was just scared by who my mate was. It did not take long for Alpha Xavier to bring us into the house. Inside, I heard a loud commotion and I looked around to see where it was coming from.  A young boy, who looked a lot like Alpha Xavier, except his hair was much lighter, ran down the open staircase with what looked to be a book. He stopped suddenly in front of us, "Xavier! We did not expect you back until tomorrow!" Once again, this boy only used Alpha Xavier's first name.  Another person came running down the stairs a second later. This time it was a girl who looked just a bit younger than me. Her dark brown hair was straight as it flowed behind her. "Harvey! I swear to the Moon Goddess, if you don't give me back my-" like the boy, Harvey, she stopped in front of Xavier and me. "Xavier!" She gasped and then looked at me. A large grin made its way onto her thin but beautiful face. "Is this, is this your mate?" She asked. I did not hear Xavier respond, but I assumed he nodded his head. "She's beautiful!" The girl exclaimed and my face heated up.  A second later my feet hit the floor as I Xavier actually put me down. "Leigh, you are embarrassing the girl," The boy, Harvey stated as he watched me with a wary eye. I knew I must have been shaking slightly as the two examined me. "Harvey, just shut up," Leigh rolled her grey eyes and hit him upside the head with her hand. I flinched slightly as she did, but it barely made a sound. She then grabbed the book quickly from the boy and turned to me. "As you probably figured out, I am Leigh and this i***t is Harvey," She introduced herself to me. "A-Aliya," I nervously said.  "Aliya? That is such a pretty name!" She grinned. A second later, I heard the door close behind us. "Edric!" Harvey said and walked past us. My gaze followed them and saw the blond-haired man walk in with my suitcase. "Hey Harvey," Edric said and messed up the boy's hair with his hand, "Did you both stay out of trouble while we were gone?" He asked. "Us? Get in trouble, never!" He laughed. I never thought that I could feel more uncomfortable. I felt like the odd-ball out as all of them seemed pretty close.  "Okay, okay. I know you both are excited to see Edric and my mate," Alpha Xavier's voice came out, softer than I have heard it before, "but, it is 1 o'clock in the morning. Both of you two need to get to bed."  "But Xavier!" both Harvey and Leigh whined. "Bed!" He growled out. Both of them looked down and marched up the stair to their rooms I suppose. As they did, I could not help but wonder who those two are to Alpha Xavier? Are they his siblings? If his siblings are here, does that mean his parents are as well? "Well, Xavier, here is her suitcase. I should get back home to Mayda," Edric grinned, "you know her, she does not like me gone for long periods of time." Edric set down my suitcase and left me alone with my mate.
