Melody
I arrive in front of the door to Josh"s flat and nervously double-check his instructions. Two doorbells sit to the side of it, one will ring like normal, but the other will light up a connected lamp in Josh"s room, meaning that he can get visitors like everyone else.
I press the second one, hoping it works right.
Time seems to pass slowly, but it"s mostly down to the nerves of being invited over to his flat for the first time. I know that this is a big deal, but after a few dates in well-lit restaurants and cafés, I think both of us want some time we can spend away from other people.
The door opens and Josh smiles at me from the other side, waving his hand in greeting.
I shift the box of food I"m holding so my own is free, cursing myself for not thinking of that before I arrive
