Packed with food, supplies, and a black Labrador retriever named Barney, the Mehtas’ Ford Expedition is ready to roll. It’s early Thursday morning, and the Fourth of July is tomorrow. Samir, Su’s father, wants to get up to Winnipesaukee early to beat the holiday traffic. Probably a good idea, even though I can’t imagine much traffic in New Hampshire. After the rush of getting to Su’s and loading up everything, we all pile in and I have a chance to examine Su’s parents more closely.
