After a few days in the hospital. it was time for Cathy to be released. The only question in her mind was where she was going to be released to. The officer had reassured her that the temporary protective order would help keep her safe but she didn’t feel confident that a piece of paper would do her any good. With the help of the hospital social worker, they had arranged for a set of clothes from a local church, then they scheduled an officer to pick her up and take her to the apartment. Technically the protective order gave her the right to remain in the apartment, but the process server hadn’t been able to locate him yet to serve him.
