The Rejection That He Regrets

Chapter Five

Ava's P.O.V.

There was a bright light glaring in my face and a loud beeping. I slowly opened my eyes and looked around after they adjusted to the light. I looked around, and my eyes landed on my dad. "Daddy, he didn't want me. Why didn't he want me? Is there something wrong with me?" I croaked out. He came over to my bed and brushed my hair back. "No, baby girl, there is nothing wrong with you. As for him, he is nothing but a low-ranking Beta and it is his loss. You are strong and perfect, Ava, his pack will be dealt with," dad said. "Ava, my baby, are you okay? Do you need or want anything? Do we need to cancel the party? I swear I will kill him if he ever steps foot in our pack again." mom sobbed as she rushed through the door. "Mom, no, I will be okay. Eve said this had to happen. You worked so hard on my party. We will deal with this after everyone leaves," I said calmly. Everyone just looked at me in shock. "Please, I promise I will be okay. I also don't want to linger on something or someone who is irrelevant. If he doesn't want me, then, I don't want him," I said before getting up and walking out to go back to my room.

Everyone stood there before they realized I was serious. Jane, May, Ray, Mell, Kaitey and I all got ready for the party when Ray said, "My father and some visiting alphas are coming a little later. I hope you don't mind. They are coming to meet your dad for meetings tomorrow and Theo said to invite them to the party so they can get a feel for each other before they do business." I stopped for a second then just said, "That's fine, Ray, I don't mind. Maybe there will be a few matings that will happen. I can only hope someone else has better luck than I do today." This time Jane replied, "Well, I know a few of the alphas that are here haven't found their mates. Who knows, maybe I will find mine. I would choose you, Ava, if you gave me the chance," she said the last part with a sly smile, and we all burst into giggles. "I love you guys, and for the record, Jane, if you don't find yours soon, maybe we could just become the devoted aunties to all those pups that will be born the next couple of years." I said between giggles.

We finished, and I went to find my parents, who were greeting a few last-minute guests. "Hummm, do you smell that mom? It smells like ms. Bridges' famous chocolate cake and cotton candy," I said softly, walking up beside them. "I think I am going to make sure the guests inside don't need anything," I said before walking back into the house. I followed the smell, and it led me to the back deck door. I slid the door open and noticed there were a few people with my brother Drake drinking and horsing around in the field behind the pack house. I looked down and Drake yelled at me to come join them, so I started making my way down the deck stairs. When I reached the bottom, I looked in their direction and my eyes landed on the guy standing next to Drake. It was his best friend, alpha Xaver. Our eyes met, and I felt fireworks shoot behind my eyes. He stalked over to me, lifted me up and made his way through the house and the looks people were giving us made me blush. I pushed my face into his neck and took a deep breath and inhaled his scent. It felt like heaven. I saw my mom and Ray look at us and then my mom gave a huge, knowing smile like she knew this was going to happen. He walked to his room, pushed the door open and slammed it behind him. I thought he was going to reject me too, but to my surprise, he pushed me onto the bed laid behind me and pulled me to his chest. I just laid there not knowing what to do. "Eve, what is happening? Our mate rejected us, so why do I feel the mate bond with Xaver?" I asked my wolf. "I know he rejected you, he was supposed to remember? I can not tell you too much, but I can tell you, accept him. You must accept all of them." She replied before a kiss on my lips pulled me back to what was happening.

"Xaver, before this goes any further, you must know, I was rejected by my mate just a few hours ago. So I don't understand how I am feeling the mate bond with you," I said, stopping him from kissing me again. He just sighed and pulled me tight to his chest and planted kisses all over my face. "I know, Drake is my best friend," he told me the moment I walked away with you in my arms. I will never reject you. You will be my Luna," he said before kissing my lips. I kissed him back and then pulled away again and repeated to him what Eve told me. He sat there before he looked at me and asked, "So are you going to accept all of them? I am an alpha and I do not like to share, but for you Ava. I would change everything about myself just for you. If your wolf says you will have more mates than just me, then we will cross that bridge when we get there." We lay there wrapped in each other's arms for the rest of the night.
