I was not expecting to find a motorbike parked up for Luke. He hands me a helmet and I look at him dumbstruck.
“My suitcase?” We have not even collected it from baggage claim.
“I have paid for delivery services, it is likely already on its way to our home.” He offers me the helmet again. “Have you been on a bike before?”
“Yes actually,” I slide the helmet on before climbing onto the bike behind Luke. “Never with my cousin though.”
Luke laughs and tells me to hold his sides if I am uncomfortable wrapping my arms around him. I do just that.
It takes us around thirty minutes to reach Luke’s house, his bike is amazing. It is smooth on the ground and the thrill of being on it zaps through me. Luke drives us through some fancy ass estates before pulling up to this massive house. It looks more like a mansion.
I climb off and Luke follows suit. I hand him my helmet as I gawk at the house.
“Apologies but we have company,” Luke tells me with a smile. “Come on.”
We go into the house and the place is huge. I don’t have chance to take it all in though, Luke takes my arm and pulls me through the house into the garden. There is a large structure built out here. Like a very large shed but better built. On the side of the building is spray paint. It says ‘new rogue’.
Luke leads me into the shed building and my eyes need a second to adjust to the dark atmosphere. Two sets of eyes are staring back at me as the room becomes clear.
“Boys, this is my cousin, Radleigh. Rads, this is Juke, Ithan and Regan.” Luke sits in a chair and leans over to speak with Ithan.
Ithan has short blonde spikey hair, a ring through his nose and eyebrow. He smiles at me with a nod before talking to Luke.
“Hi,” Juke stands and offers me with his hand. I shake it. “How was the flight?”
“Fine,” I tell him and look him over. He has dark auburn hair styled into a short mullet. He doesn’t appear to have any piercings but he has stars tattooed down the side of his neck.
He pulls out a chair for me and gestures to sit down.
I sit down and glance over at Regan but he hasn’t looked at me yet. He is watching something else, when I glance to the left I notice a pole in the corner. A girl is currently dancing there in her lingerie. I look back at Regan and roll my eyes.
Pig.
I have to admit, he is decent to look at. Dark curly hair tousled on his head. His shoulders are broad under his T-shirt and tattoos peak out of his shirt.
“Regan,” Luke calls out and he finally turns toward us. “What’s the -“
“No,” Regan says and his deep authoritative tone surprises me. It also sends a little shiver down my spine but I won’t admit that any time soon. “We do not talk business in front of strangers.”
Luke scoffs, “she is my cousin. She is not a stranger. I am responsible for her so she will be around a lot going forward.”
Regan looks at me with distain but all I can take in is the fact his eyes are a deep green.
Fuck me, I do love green eyes.
He scrutinies me and openly looks me up and down.
“If she wants to be in here then she can make herself useful. She isn’t one of us.” He says the words harshly.
I scoff this time, “and who the f**k said I wanted to be here?” I stand from the chair. “Don’t talk about me like I’m not sitting right across from you. Your rude ass might find it acceptable, but I certainly do not. I am also not some lowly skank who is going to strip off and dance around a pole for you. The only part of me you will be seeing, is my ass as I walk out that door.” I turn and begin walking. “Bye bye.”
I storm across the grass and toward the house. What an asshole, he cannot speak to people that way. He doesn’t even know me.
“Radleigh!” Luke calls after me and I stop so he can catch up.
“I know he handled that badly but I swear he isn’t a bad guy. They will be here a lot so I would appreciate if you could try and get along with them.” Luke pleads with me.
“I will just avoid them if that’s okay?” I ask and Luke nods.
“Let me show you to your bedroom,” he offers and I agree.
